Vanessa
Hi guys. My partner of 10 years is in this third cycle of cluster headaches. He has them every 3 years for 6 weeks and this year a few months earlier than normal. Anyone tried botox? He's currently on oxygen and the other standard medication ( forgot the names bit the blood pressure one and nasal sprays). Update. He's just locked himself in the bathroom crying. Oxygen not working. This is a bad one. Nothing I can do...
Dallas Denny
Hi Vanessa Sorry to read this thread! There's not really any new treatments as yet although we do finally have some real research in progress! Have him try energy drinks or shots at onset as that helps many folks And read up on the anti inflammatory vitamin D3 regimen in the files section.....its important to incorporate all of the co factors and have a blood test but it helps the vast majority of clusterheads who follow the process correctly Dallas Denny
CHfather
D3 regimen as a preventive, and energy shots (such as 5-Hour Energy) as an abortive, as Denny says. Upgrade his O2 system: 25lpm regulator and best mask http://www.clusterheadaches.com/ccp8/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=clustero2kit (Just a side note that for some reason when O2 level is low in the tank, it doesn't seem to work as well.) The blood pressure med is probably verapamil. Most people need more than docs prescribe -- as much as 960mg/day. And it should be the NON extended release form. If sumatriptan nasal spray isn't working, he should get the injectable kind. Taking Benadryl 4x/day (25mg, 25, 25, and 50mg at night) helps some people. Check the list of Triggers in the ClusterBuster files section. Edited July 27, 2018 by CHfather
xxx
Hey Vanessa, I've sent you a PM with information about the anti-inflammatory regimen CH preventative treatment protocol. For a read-ahead, download a copy of this vitamin D3 treatment protocol at the following VitaminDWiki web site. http://www.vitamindwiki.com/tiki-download_wiki_attachment.php?attId=7708 This treatment protocol works very effectively to prevent CH with no side effects or adverse events. Over 700 CHers have started this treatment protocol since December of 2010. Take care, V/R, Batch
LennyC
Amgen's new CGRP inhibitor Aimovig, a monoclonal antibody, should be available, and has had some success in cluster. Talk to your neurologist. Edited July 30, 2018 by LennyC
VDG
Steroid nerve blocks work very well but not every neurologist or headache specialist does them Look for one in your area on American Headache Society website
