Coronavirus PSA

Recommended Posts

To All,

The following might be of interest given the growing hysteria over the coronavirus. The coronavirus, enterovirus (colds and flu) and rihinovirus (colds) responsible for upper respiratory infections are all about the same size and shape with the same propensity and mechanism for spreading.

Accordingly, for the CHers on the anti-inflammatoy regimen, adding a gram or two of vitamin C a day can help. For CHers and Supporters not taking this regimen, taking at least 5000 IU/day vitamin D3, 1000 mg/day Omega-3 fish oil and 1 to 2 grams/day vitamin C can help immune systems combat upper respiratory viral infections.

For reference this combination of vitamins and minerals has an NNT of 2 in preventing viral infections.  The NNT = The Number Needed to Treat to prevent one case of the viral infection.  From CDC data, the best matched flu vaccine has an NNT of 12 to 40.

If you're interested in reading some fascinating studies about the 2019 Coronavirus outbreak, see the following link to medRxiv.  This is a preprint server for health sciences. These study results are published within 2 days of submission where acceptance  and publishing by the traditional medical journal can take an average of two months or longer.  These reports carry the following caveat:

Caution: Preprints are preliminary reports of work that have not been peer-reviewed. They should not be relied on to guide clinical practice or health-related behavior and should not be reported in news media as established information.

https://www.medrxiv.org/search/2019%2BCoronavirus%2BnCoV numresults%3A10 sort%3Apublication-date direction%3Adescending

I've done a cursory review of these studies and came up with the following:

  • Fatalities from the 2019 coronavirus appear to occur most prominently in people of Asian extraction[Comment: This makes sense as the CDC now warns travelers about “community spread” in six nations: Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.]
  • Fatalities appear to occur most prominently in people over age 50
  • Leading cause of death from the 2019 coronavirus is pneumonia (acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus) [Comment: Pneumonia successfully treated with high dose Vitamin C infusion]
  • Patients with coronavirus infections tend to have weak immune systems
  • T cells play a critical role in antiviral immunity and patients with the coronavirus infection have low CD4+ and CD8+ T-lymphocyte (T-Cell) counts. [Comment: Vitamin D3 plus cofactors can help build a strong immune system]
  • One study concluded "Our analysis reveals that eosinopenia (too few eosinophil white blood cells) may be a potentially more reliable laboratory predictor for SARS-CoV-2 infection than leukocyte counts and lymphopenia recommended by current guidelines."

First - The good news

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, Feb 21, 2020

Three Intravenous Vitamin C Research Studies Approved for Treating COVID-19

by Andrew W. Saul, Editor

(OMNS February 21, 2020) Intravenous vitamin C is already being employed in China against COVID-19 coronavirus. I am receiving regular updates because I am part of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board to the International Intravenous Vitamin C China Epidemic Medical Support Team. Its director is Richard Z. Cheng, MD, PhD; associate director is Hong Zhang, PhD. Among other team members are Qi Chen, PhD (Associate Professor, Kansas University Medical School); Jeanne Drisko, MD (Professor, University of Kansas Medical School); Thomas E. Levy, MD, JD; and Atsuo Yanagisawa, MD, PhD. (Professor, Kyorin University, Tokyo). To read the treatment protocol information in English: http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v16n07.shtml (Protocol in Chinese at http://www.doctoryourself.com/Coronavirus_Chinese_IV_C_Protocol.pdf

Direct report from China

OMNS Chinese edition editor Dr. Richard Cheng is reporting from China about the first approved study of 12,000 to 24,000 mg/day of vitamin C by IV. The doctor also specifically calls for immediate use of vitamin C for prevention of coronavirus (COVID-19).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC0SO9KDG7U

A second clinical trial of intravenous vitamin C was announced in China on Feb. 13th. In this second study, says Dr. Cheng, "They plan to give 6,000 mg/day and 12,000 mg/day per day for moderate and severe cases. We are also communicating with other hospitals about starting more intravenous vitamin C clinical studies. We would like to see oral vitamin C included in these studies, as the oral forms can be applied to more patients and at home." Additional information at http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v16n11.shtml

And on Feb 21, 2020, announcement has been made of a third research trial now approved for intravenous vitamin C for COVID-19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMDX0RSDp1k&feature=youtu.be

News of vitamin C research for COVID-19 is being actively suppressed

Anyone saying that vitamin therapy can stop coronavirus is already being labeled as "promoting false information" and promulgating "fake news." Even the sharing of verifiable news, and direct quotes from credentialed medical professionals, is being restricted or blocked on social media. You can see sequential examples of this phenomenon at my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/themegavitaminman .

Indeed, the World Health Organization (WHO) has, literally, met with Google and Facebook and other media giants to stop the spread of what they declare to be wrong information. https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/02/14/facebook-google-amazon-met-with-who-to-talk-coronavirus-misinformation.html?__twitter_impression=true

Physician-directed, hospital-based administration of intravenous vitamin C has been marginalized or discredited. Scientific debate over COVID-19 appears to not be allowed.

Ironically, Facebook, blocking any significant users' sharing of the news of approved vitamin therapy research, is itself blocked in China by the Chinese government. As for the internet, yes, China has it. And yes, it is censored. But, significantly, the Chinese government has not blocked this real news on how intravenous vitamin C will save lives in the COVID-19 epidemic. Here is the protocol as published in Chinese: http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v16n11-chi.shtml

Medical orthodoxy obsessively focuses on searching for a vaccine and/or drug for coronavirus (COVID-19). While they are looking for what would be fabulously profitable approaches, we have with vitamin C an existing, plausible, clinically demonstrated method to treat what coronavirus patients die from: severe acute respiratory syndrome, or pneumonia.

And it is available right now.

Now for the Disturbing News.

I was up most of last night reading through hundreds of papers about the 2019 Coronavirus (now renamed by the WHO as "COVID-19") published in the medRxiv website I posted about earlier and on Research Gate, a website I've been a member of for several years researching vitamin D3 and its role in preventing CH and MH.

As most of you know, I'm a 75-year-old retired Navy fighter pilot so clearly not a virologist or epidemiologist.  That said, I do read and comprehend a great deal of medical related information so here is my take-away in the following:

There are three papers that say Wuhan scientists took the North Carolina SARS with gain of function, which is already a biological warfare weapon, and they took the technology here behind this well-developed SARS HIV weapon and they all brought it back to the Wuhan a BSL-4 and tried to DNA genetically engineer it into a chimera, into a biological warfare weapon involving the coronavirus (now COVID-19), the HIV virus and gain of function.  The theory is one of the idiot scientists at the BSL-4 lab in Wuhan became infected with the COVID-19 but didn't realize it and went about daily activities in the Wuhan area including the fish market shedding virus wherever he went and that's what has lead us to where we are today.

BSL-4 = Biosafety Level-4 = A facility with the highest level of biosafety precautions, and is appropriate for work with agents that could easily be aerosol-transmitted within the laboratory and cause severe to fatal disease in humans for which there are no available vaccines or treatments.

Gain of Function = Weaponize.

Chimera = A fire breathing creature composed of the parts of more than one animal.  Real bad news as a chimeric virus is made up from the worst parts of two or more deadly virus.

Above comments in bold by Professor Dr. Francis A. Boyle, a leading expert in international law; responsible for drafting the Biological Weapons Anti-terrorism Act of 89, which was adopted into world law and the American-implementing legislation for the biological weapons convention.

One paper reported analyzing the COVID-19 genome and found it has a 98.94 percent identity with SARS-Coronavirus with additional genetic sequences (from one or more other virus) which would tend to support the assertion this is a chimeric virus.

Another paper estimated he R0 at 3.5, much higher than the WHO estimates.  The R0 or R nought or R zero of an infection can be though of as the expected number of cases directly generated by one case in a population where all the individuals are susceptible to infection.

Still another paper concluded "the COVID-19 epidemic doubling time was analyzed by Chinese province (January 20 - February 9, 2020).  The overall mean doubling time ranges from 1.3 to 3.4 days for Hubei" (the province with Wuhan).

Other papers say the incubation period from exposure to symptoms for COVID-19 is ≤ 4 days and that the infection runs in two phases 10 days apart.  In other words, a COVID-19 sufferer can appear to be well with no virus found and released from the hospital/quarantine. 10 days later the second phase starts making them a super shedding spreader of the COVID-19 virus.  People at greatest risk are infants, the aged and anyone with a weakened immune system.

------------------------- My Comments------------------------

At this point I am not running around with my hair on fire over all this, but I remain vigilant.  I don't have enough hair on the top of my head to worry about fire...  The stash... well that's another matter.  I'm confident the anti-inflammatory regimen my wife, family and I have been taking since October of 2010 with 10,000 IU/day vitamin D3 and the cofactors has our immune systems running at peak performance.  We've had no flu in the 9+ years we've been taking it and the colds that do hit, run at a frequency of less than one a year, are mild and short lived.  We also take 2 to 4 grams of liposomal vitamin C/day.

Take care,

I have been following Dr. Boyle and other stuff too. House full of old people. And we kicked our C up a week ago, just in case. Better safe and healthy than the alternative. We don't do flu shots due to over reaction -  i.e. sick for 3 days post shot. But, everyone is up to date on the pneumonia vaccine, no side effects. We have not had flu for years either! Vitamins are a good thing.

Thanks for the info Batch!

Hey Spiny,

Good on you.  A caller on Rush Limbaugh today said a 2008 study of people with Schizophrenia were given large doses of vitamin D3 and none of them contracted the flu for over a year.  I checked clinicaltrials.gov.  They were given 50,000 IU/week of vitamin D3 (an average of~ 7100 IU/day) for 3 months.  That makes my point about taking the anti-inflammatory regimen in spades!

A long-time friend and fellow fighter pilot asked about putting the CoVid-19 pandemic in perspective, so here are some facts and figures that do just that.

Comparisons:

  • Every year an estimated 290,000 to 650,000 people die in the world due to complications from seasonal influenza (flu) viruses. This figure corresponds to 795 to 1,781 deaths per day due to the seasonal flu.
  • SARS (November 2002 to July 2003): was a coronavirus that originated from Beijing, China, spread to 29 countries, and resulted in 8,096 people infected with 774 deaths (fatality rate of 9.6%). Considering that SARS ended up infecting 5,237 people in mainland China, Wuhan Coronavirus surpassed SARS on January 29, 2020, when Chinese officials confirmed 5,974 cases of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). One day later, on January 30, 2020 the novel coronavirus cases surpassed even the 8,096 cases worldwide which were the final SARS count in 2003.
  • MERS (in 2012) killed 858 people out of the 2,494 infected (fatality rate of 34.4%).

How contagious is the Wuhan Coronavirus? (Ro)

The attack rate or transmissibility (how rapidly the disease spreads) of a virus is indicated by its reproductive number (Ro, pronounced R-nought or r-zero), which represents the average number of people to which a single infected person will transmit the virus.

  • WHO's estimated (on Jan. 23) Ro to be between 1.4 and 2.5.
  • Other studies have estimated a Ro between 3.6 and 4.0, and between 2.24 to 3.58.
  • Preliminary studies had estimated Ro to be between 1.5 and 3.5.
  • An outbreak with a reproductive number of below 1 will gradually disappear.
  • For comparison, the Ro for the common flu is 1.3 and for SARS it was 2.0.

My take on all this remains the same.  My hair has yet to catch fire and we’re all taking the anti-inflammatory regimen with at least 10,000 IU/day vitamin D3 or a capsule a week of the Bio-Tech D3-50 50,000 IU water soluble vitamin D3.  We’re also taking 2 to 4 grams/day of the liposomal vitamin C.

As you’ll see in the following charts, the spread of the CoVid-19 continues. CDC now says it’s WHEN not IF it spreads across the US.  It’s the blue fog of war and what we don’t know that causes the most angst.  For example, we know the seasonal flu has an endpoint usually when the Spring and Summer sun comes out and the UV in sunlight attenuates viral aerosols and surface virus drastically lowering the rate of infection.  As the CoVid-19 causes an infection spread by aerosols and close personal contact like seasonal influenza, I suspect we will see a drop in the rates of CoVid-19  infection starting in late April to early May depending on the latitude and elevation where you live.  That is just a SWAG on my part.  SWAG=Sophisticated Wild-Ass Guess.

On the brighter side there appear to be some beneficial outcomes as a result of the CoVid-19 pandemic.  Supply chain managers are now starting to source needed supplies from here in the US and US suppliers are ramping up production.  Nowhere is this more important than the medical and pharmaceutical supplies as most of the Rx medications are presently manufactured and packaged off shore in China, Myanmar and Vietnam.

There are three RCTs in progress using a vitamin C IV drip to treat pneumonia and other life-threatening conditions arising from CoVid-19 infection.  The results from these studies will be HUGE as Big Pharma will not be able to blow them off.

The equities markets stabilized today and it appears movements are being generated by Day-Trader/Hedge Fund managers.   They wait for a morning gain the sell short and buy back early the next day.

Now for a few charts on the CoVid-19 pandemic from WORLD O METER at the following link:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#repro

The first two charts show total rate of CoVid-19 infection (linear and logarithmic) and rate of CoVid-19 infection outside China where South Korea has the most (linear and Logarithmic.)

MgSDGQH.jpgIvoclHe.jpg

The slope of the curve appears to be flattening - not great a good sign..

kEmqLCV.jpg

The slope of the curve appears to be increasing - Not a good sign

The following chart lists death rate by age.  This is about what we expected last week.

MqtkBJ5.jpg

The following chart lists death rate by comorbidity.  Again, what we expected last week as these comorbid conditions tend to insult/weaken the immune system.

t9VWY5K.jpg

The take away here is outside China and Korea, the CoVid-19 death rate is very low. That is a very good sign.

There still remain unanswered questions like is China giving us the real story and not reduced numbers.  Unfortunately, I have the same question about the CDCs numbers as there have been very few genetic tests for the CoVid-19 infections in the US.  Moreover, the CDC limits these tests to people suspected of having the CoVid-19 infection who had either traveled to China or who were on the cruise ship quarantined in Japan.  The CDC also shipped out defective CoVid-19 test kits that give false positive and false negative readings so are useless.  Now they want $2.5 billion to develop a CoVid-19 vaccine….

For thems that follow things like this, do any of you recall the Zika scare from 2016?  The CDC was given $2 billion to develop a Zika vaccine… no Zika vaccine delivered to date and still no shrunken Zika heads to be found.  What did they do with the $2 billion dollars?  Hmmm… The way I see it, Big Government Bureaucrats are not to be trusted… Need I remind you about the deep staters at FBI and DOJ?

Bottom line...  Keep taking the anti-inflammatory regime and at least 2 grams of vitamin C/day.  If you're not taking this regimen... you should.  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...  Is 50 cents a day too munch?

Take care,

V/R, Batch

Well... My hair hasn't gone up in a ball of fire over the coronavirus situation.  I actually got a haircut and the stash has grown even longer.

LGAju7z.jpg

My 83 year-old wife Joyce, wanted to play the slots on Wednesday, so I cut a deal.  Cut my hair and I'll drive you to the local casino.  She did.  When I picked her up four hours later, she jumped into the car with a big smile saying...  "We're $2200 ahead for the day."  So I took her to dinner at our favorite watering hole in Silverdale, WA.

Regarding the CoVid-19 situation here in the US. There were zero deaths attributed to CoVid-19.  That could be significant.  On the other hand, there were 6 people shot and killed in Chicago this week, but that news is nowhere in sight on TV or the newspapers.  Travel is now a No-Go for China, South Korea, and today, Itally was added to the "No Go" list.  I expect Iran will be added along with a few other middle East nations.  The stock markets tanked by 14% for the week so my 401k is now 301k. That's just on paper as I remain resolute not to sell.  At this point I'm waiting to see some really good news that will turn the markets around. That said, I suspect any news of that ilk will be months away.  If history has a way of repeating itself, a year from now the markets will be higher than they were last week.

Getting back to the low infection numbers and zero deaths here in the US...  The best information available has 62 confirmed cases of CoVid-19 virus infection and zero deaths as of this afternoon.  Although this sounds very encouraging, I suspect the CDC is under-reporting the real number of infections.  I say this as of 26 February, there have been 445 people tested for the CoVid-19 virus.  In comparison South Korea has tested 35,000 patients suspected of having a CoVid-19 infection.

There are reasons for the low numbers of infected people here in the US.  The CDC sent out CoVid-19 test kits three weeks ago, but these test kits were faulty and gave false positives and false negatives so were useless.  "New and improved" CoVid-19 test kits are being shipped out this weekend so results of this testing should start coming out early next week.  Look for the number of confirmed CoVid-19 infections to go up significantly next week.  As of this morning there were five states with lab test facilities capable of detecting the CoVid-19 infection, California, Illinois, Nebraska, Nevada and Tennessee plus the CDC.

There's been a lot of reporting on vaccines being developed for the CoVid-19 virus.  Even if one of the handful presently in development started human testing today, it would still be a year or longer before that vaccine was available to the general public.  To that I opine, the best flu vaccine well matched for the actual virus has an NNT (Number Needed To Treat to prevent one case of the flu) of 40.  That means 39 of the 40 can still catch the flu.

What we need to look for now are successful treatments for people infected with the CoVid-19 virus.  So far, hospitals in Wuhan, China may be way out in front on this count having registered the first RCT on the use of vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) IV to treat the pneumonia associated with a CoVid-19 infection on clinicaltrials.gov.  There are three such vitamin C studies about to start recruiting.  Watch for the results.

A quick check of cinicaltrials.gov reveals 93 studies of "corona virus OR CoVid-19" studies registered in the last 90 days, most in the last three weeks.  They're throwing everything including the kitchen sink at the CoVid-19 virus infection.  That includes Thalidomide, the drug given to pregnant women known to cause congenital malformation of limbs on babies.  Again, the RCTs to watch are the really safe ones using vitamin C IV or Oral Vitamin C.

As far as what to do... Play it cool.  The odds are high this CoVid-19 thing is going to get worse.  That said, as long as you stay healthy and practice good hygiene, you're in good shape. Wash your hands frequently, particularly prior to preparing or eating food.  Keep a bottle of Purel handy when out and about.  Above all, keep your immune system healthy by taking at least 5,000 IU/day vitamin D3 plus a good multivitamin/mineral and some vitamin C.  The best way to go about doing this is by taking the anti-inflammatory regimen treatment protocol I have up on my webpage at the following vitaminDwiki.com link:  See my first post in this thread for the proof that vitamin D3 lowers the incidence of influenza infections.

http://www.vitamindwiki.com/tiki-download_wiki_attachment.php?attId=7708

Keep your kids, grand kids and close friends on this regimen as well.  That way you'll have a very real herd immunity.

So there you have it, this week's PSA on the Coronavirus, a.k.a., the CoVid-19 virus.  Have a wonderful weekend and see you on Monday.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

Monday 2 March, 2020,

First the good news:  Today the stock markets gained back a third of what they lost last week and the CoVid-19 test kits started shipping out last Friday.

Now for the other news: 103 infected in the US and 6 dead as of 21:00 PST Monday.   Unfortunately this is just the beginning as many more will follow in both categories in the daze to come now that the test kits confirm the growing number of CoVid-19 viral infections.

Four of the six deaths in Washington that occurred in the Seattle area, were community dwelling seniors at a managed care nursing facility East of Seattle.  I expect the number of deaths to the CoVid-19 virus at that facility to go up over the next few days as it's clear the infection was spreading for more than a week before they implemented containment measures and the staff started wearing protective garments and face masks.

The first case in the US with the CoVid-19 virus recovered from the first phase of CoVid-19 infection then went back to school.  10 days later the second phase of CoVid-19 infection started so he was shedding virus at school for a few days before going back into quarantine. They closed the school when his second phase of infection started, but it appears there will be more cases of community spread CoVid-19 infection.

Taking 3 grams/day vitamin C and at least 5,000 IU vitamin D3 will help prevent CoVid-19 infection and should lessen the severity of this infection should it occur.  At least this is something proactive we can do besides following the CDC recommendations to wash our hands, cough into a tissue and avoid crowds.

The CDC has yet to acknowledge the 50 Ton shipment of vitamin C to Wuhan China.  Doctors there in China are getting their ducks in a row, treating CoVid-19 patients with plenty of vitamin C.  Not so for HHS.  They're off on a lark trying to find an expensive Rx antiviral treatment and a vaccine that will take over a year from phase 1 testing completion before it's available to the public.  It sure looks like the HHS has a Big Pharma mentality.  Maybe it's just me, but this sure looks bad for the CDC and Dr. Anthony Facci at NIH as vitamin C and vitamin D3 have proven antiviral capacities and are looking them in the face, yet they will not tell the public they can take them.  Insanity!

Take care,

Tuesday 10 March 2020

Well...  my hair has yet to burst into flames so I decided to keep my powder dry by not updating this thread over the weekend and it turns out, that was very likely a good move.

23 of our Nations 27 deaths attributed to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus occurred in, Washington state and 20  of those who died in King County were residents of Life Care Center, a nursing home in Kirkland, WA.   The residents and staff at the Life Care Center managed care facility were hung out to dry by the CDC, Washington State, and King County Public Health officials.  They knew there was a problem in mid February and the first confirmed US death due to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus that occurred on 29 Feb was a resident at the Life Care Center managed care facility.  They didn't get any help from the Fed's until Saturday when a team of 30 doctors, RNs, PAs and epidemiologists arrived at the Life Care Center.

Here's the world-wide view of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus as of 05:30 PDT this morning.

yXZT2U4.jpg

There are some interesting facts in this and related data.  For example, the number of deaths in community dwelling environments like the Diamond Princess cruise ship in a cold climate (Japan) was 7 out of 696 confirmed cases, but the cruise ship that sailed around Hawaii where there was plenty of sun had only 22 confirmed  COVID-19 novel coronavirus infections and 19 were crew who had not left the ship for over 3 weeks.  Hmmm...  Could it be that cutaneous vitamin D3 from all that sunshine played a role in the low infection rate among passengers on this cruise ship?

By now most of you have seen the markets tank over 2000 points on Monday and most of that was due to the collapse of the crude oil prices.  If you check the markets like I do, you know the futures are up by over 700 points this morning at 5:45 PDT and bond yields have doubled from all time lows.  These market numbers will surely jink around a lot today.  So what does this mean?  Stock markets move based on two major influences, fear of the unknown that causes prices to tank and greed in not wanting to miss a major increase in prices that cause markets to rise.  The big hedge fund managers lead the markets on both counts.

I received a call from my grandson on Saturday.  He wanted to know my thoughts on the COVID-19 novel coronavirus situation as he was writing an article about it for his high school paper.  This was a welcome surprise to me so we spent over an hour talking about it and I was very impressed with his questions.  I sat down and drafted the following email I sent to him Sunday morning so thought I'd share it with you.  It summarizes my thoughts and what I've found so fare by searching the Internet.

Hey Alex,

I'm so happy you're interested in information about the COVID-19 Coronavirus.  This is a very interesting and important topic everyone, particularly kids your age need to understand.  We all need to understand this virus and what it means to us as we go about our every day activities.

The two videos you need to watch are "Battlefield Cell" and a presentation by Dr. Linus Pauling titled "Preventing Illnesses and Diseases with Vitamin C." at the following two links.  Linus Pauling won two individual Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Peace.  He helped stop above ground nuclear bomb testing.

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x150im3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=7kGo0DfxQss

The following are the talking points your article in the school paper needs to address - get across to its readers.

Your teachers will likely ask you where you got all this information.  Tell them the truth.  Tell them my grandfather has been a vitamin D3 researcher since 2010 when he discovered 10,000 IU/day vitamin D3 plus its cofactors prevented his cluster headaches. He gave me some of the links I used in this article and told me how to search the Internet with search queries like (sequencing COVID-19 genome) and to find more links to information about the COVID-19 outbreak in Seattle by looking at the Seattle TV station web sites like KIRO-7 at https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/department-health-confirms-first-coronavirus-deatth-washington-state/XIDPHMLVOJAAREQ5YCL75367PU/

He also told me to search websites like Orthomolecular.org and vitaminDwiki.com for information on COVID-19.  Give your teachers a demonstration by using your smart phone to do a search of vitaminDwiki.com using the search term "COVID-19".

Here's a suggested title and talking points for your paper.

Hugs, Grandfather Pete

The COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus: What we all need to know about it.

Alex Batcheller

1.  No need to panic - The actual death rate based on data from Korea where there are no shortages of the RT-PCR test kits is currently 0.7% (50/7134 = .007 X 100 = 0.7%).  RT-PCR = Reverse Transcription - Polymerase Chain Reaction, a technique used to measure the amount of a specific RNA (Ribonucleic Acid - half of DNA). In this case the amount of the COVID-19 virus. Sources, Wikipedia at the following link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_transcription_polymerase_chain_reaction

Moreover, the death rate is highest among the elderly > 60 years of age and among people with pre-existing medical conditions as illustrated in the following charts.  These charts of COVID-19 statistics come from the following website:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

yXZT2U4.jpg

One of the primary cause of death from COVID-19 infection is pneumonia.

2. We need to view the COVID-19 in perspective.  For example, there were 74 people shot and killed in Chicago this year, but that is not in the news. There have been over 45 million cases of seasonal flu reported to the CDC during the present 2019-2020 flu season with an estimated 20,000 deaths but that is not in the news either.

The COVID-19 Corona Virus spreads like the flu through moisture droplets formed when people infected with it cough.  People get infected with the COVID-19 when they inhale these droplets like the flu through their nose and mouth or touch a surface contaminated with the COVID-19 virus then touch their mouth.

So far the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 remains low because the CDC just started shipping the RT-PCR COVID-19 test kits this last week. The test kits the CDC sent out in early February were faulty giving false positive and false negative results so were useless.  That means the actual number of COVID-19 infections are being under reported here in the US and the number of infections is more than likely going to increase rapidly as more people are tested with the CDC test kits.  The world wide COVID-19 status is illustrated in the following graphic.  Data from the following websites as of Saturday 7 March 2020.

The good news is President Trump met with the heads of the top medical diagnostic labs in the US (Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp). They will start doing COVID-19 testing based on CDC guidance.  We should expect the number of people in the US infected with the COVID-19 virus to go up even faster as these labs start testing.

3.  The current epicenter for the COVID-19 virus outbreak in the US is in Kirkland Washington near Seattle at the Life Care Center nursing facility where at least 10 of 11 deaths in King County originated.  It appears the CDC, Washington State and King County public health agencies dropped the ball on residents at this nursing home.  The first federal experts from the CDC arrived there Saturday, 7 March.  The first us death from the COVID-19 virus occurred when a resident at the Life Care nursing center died on 29 Feb, 2020.  In short, it appears this nursing home has been an incubator for the COVID-19 virus.  The two cruise ships with COVID-19 infections have also effectively turned into virus incubators infecting crews and passengers.

It is interesting to note the cruise ship that visited Hawaii where there was lots of sun had only three passengers test positive for COVID-19 so far.  Could it be that vitamin D3 from sunlight in Hawaii kept passengers on this cruise ship from being infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus?

4. We can do much more to prevent infection with the COVID-19 virus than what the CDC is telling us.  They tell us to wash our hands frequently, don't touch your mouth face nose or eyes, avoid crowds, and if you do experience a high fever, dry cough, aches and pains, and shortness of breath, stay home and call your doctor.

What the CDC, FDA and HHS are not telling the public is taking 3 grams (3000 mg) a day of vitamin C (1 gram with breakfast, 1 gram with lunch and one gram with dinner) and taking 5,000 IU/day vitamin D3 can go a long way in preventing viral infections like colds, the flu and very likely, the COVID-19 infection as illustrated in the following graphics from Grassrootshealth Nutrient Research Institute at the following links.  This is good news.  See the following websites for more details.

7TyoeqJ.gif

The other good news the CDC is not tell us, is doctors in Wuhan, China took delivery of 50 Tons of vitamin C two weeks ago. Think about that for a moment… why would doctors in Wuhan, China order this much vitamin C? Could it be they know it’s effective in treating COVID-19 infections?   It appears it is effective.

The CDC also won’t tell us that government officials in Shanghai are now recommending high dose vitamin C infusions (IVC) at 12 to 16 grams/day infused by IV two to three times a day to treat COVID-19 induced pneumonia.  See the following links for details on these and other benefits of vitamin C as it applies to treating COVID-19 viral infections:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-elCYFhqJs&feature=youtu.be

The last link to Youtube, comes from an American doctor in China who has been treating patients with COVID-19 pneumonia with IV Vitamin C.  I wonder if the ICUs and ERs in our local hospitals are aware of this treatment protocol. (Alex, call them and find out first hand if they're aware of this treatment protocol.)

5. There is also some disturbing news the CDC is not telling us.  Researchers in China have sequenced the COVID-19 virus genome.  They found it appears to contain genetic sequences from SARS-CoV (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-related coronavirus), MERS-CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-related coronavirus) and another corona type virus.  See the following Internet links:

https://www.silverdoctors.com/headlines/world-news/full-transcript-of-smoking-gun-bombshell-interview/

https://galaxynewsexpress.com/blog/coronavirus-bombshell-chinese-scientists-reveal-real-cause-of-outbreak-claim-amp/

If this is true, the COVID-19 has been genetically engineered to be a chimeric weaponized virus.  These articles also indicate this virus likely leaked from the BSL-4 facility in Wuhan, China a few blocks from the fish market where the COVID-19 outbreak started.  Biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) is the highest level of biosafety precautions, and is appropriate for work with agents that could easily be aerosol-transmitted within the laboratory and cause severe to fatal disease in humans for which there are no available vaccines or treatments.  See Wikipedia at the following link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biosafety_level#Biosafety_level_4

Some more bad news the CDC has not told us, is a COVID-19 infection can present in two phases with negative RT-PCR test kit results between phases.  Part of this news came out Wednesday afternoon in a during a televised press conference with Vice President Pence and Washington Governor Inslee in Tacoma, WA.  A detailed account of this two-phase COVID-19 infection came from the following link in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA):

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2762452
Research Letter
February 27, 2020
Positive RT-PCR Test Results in Patients Recovered From COVID-19

“Four patients with COVID-19 who met criteria for hospital discharge or discontinuation of quarantine in China (absence of clinical symptoms and radiological abnormalities and 2 negative RT-PCR test results) had positive RT-PCR test results 5 to 13 days later. “

“These findings suggest that at least a proportion of recovered patients still may be virus carriers. Although no family members were infected, all reported patients were medical professionals and took special care during home quarantine. Current criteria for hospital discharge or discontinuation of quarantine and continued patient management may need to be reevaluated.”

There is also evidence the COVID-19 virus is mutating as two strains of this virus have been identified.  https://www.covid-19.no/covid19-mutating-chinese-scientists-find-strain

6. Even with all the bad news, the good news is we can protect ourselves more effectively than by just washing our hands, not touching our face and mouth and bumping elbows instead of shaking hands by taking vitamin C at 3 grams/day and vitamin D3 at 5000 IU/day.  This is really good news!

It is also likely the COVID-19 novel coronavirus rate of infection will drop like seasonal flu when the weather warms up.  People make more vitamin D3 by being out in the sun.  This is where the Ultra Violate-B (UV-B) in direct summer sunlight strikes molecules of 7-Dehydrocholesterol (yes cholesterol) in the skin converting it to cholecalciferol, vitamin D3).  See vitaminDwiki.com.

The bottom line for the above email should be clear.  We can do much more to prevent infections with the COVID-19 novel coronavirus than what the CDC is telling us.  We can take 3 grams/day vitamin C and at least 5000 IU/day vitamin D3.

The other really great news occurred yesterday on Fox news in a segment featuring Dr. Oz.  During this segment Dr. Oz said to take vitamin C and vitamin D3 to help prevent infection.  HELLO...  I've been waiting weeks to hear a doctor say this on TV.  Dr. Oz went on to say if you do come down with the COVID-19 novel coronavirus, take 80 mg/day zinc, 250 mg/day vitamin C and 1500 IU vitamin D3 and Elderberry juice or syrup.  The vitamin C and Vitamin D3 doses are too low by my way of thinking, but at least we had a doctor on TV say we needed to take them.  That is very good!

Take care... and take your vitamins,

V/R, Batch

This is not like the flu. This statistical analysis explains why: https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus. This may also be helpful in explaining the difference: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/coronavirus-vs-the-flu-its-just-like-other-viruses-and-we-should-go-about-our-normal-business-right-wrong-heres-why-2020-03-09

Also, take Vitamin C if you must, but there's nothing concrete to show that it will save someone from this virus.

Finally, in terms of preparedness, as many have said, better to feel silly for being over-prepared than caught being under-prepared.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/03/09/its-now-or-never-us-if-it-hopes-keep-coronavirus-burning-out-control/  Unfortunately, our trajectory is looking like that in Italy and that does not bode well. For any one of us CH patients, having treatments stored at home in case of a new or continuing cycle...It would be sensible.

BOF - Political view removed.

Igdc, You're correct, there haven't been any RCTs on the COVID-19 novel coronavirus treated or prevented with vitamin C and vitamin D3.  It wasn't officially defined and named until 10 Jan 2020. That said, there have been studies of the effects of vitamin C and vitamin D3 on colds and the seasonal flu and they are effective.  The study below had 1,556 participants.

The last link to Youtube, comes from an American doctor in China who has been treating patients with COVID-19 pneumonia with IV Vitamin C.  I wonder if the ICUs and ERs in our local hospitals are aware of this treatment protocol.

There are at least three gold standard RCTs using vitamin C to treat COVID-19 coronavirus pneumonia either about to start of already in progress.  Pneumonia is the leading cause of death among people infected with this virus.  And if you didn't catch it in the earlier post, Doctors in Wuhan, China took delivery of 50 Tons of vitamin C a couple weeks ago.  You might ask what do they know that the CDC doesn't?    At least Dr. Oz says take vitamin C and vitamin D3 to prevent or better prepare the immune system for the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.

Finally, there's growing evidence from virologists who have been sequencing the COVID-19 nCoV genome that there are at least two genome sequences.  A few virologists suspect this virus is mutating.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, Jan 26, 2020

Vitamin C Protects Against Coronavirus

by Andrew W. Saul, Editor

(OMNS January 26, 2020) The coronavirus pandemic can be dramatically slowed, or stopped, with the immediate widespread use of high doses of vitamin C. Physicians have demonstrated the powerful antiviral action of vitamin C for decades. There has been a lack of media coverage of this effective and successful approach against viruses in general, and coronavirus in particular.

It is very important to maximize the body's anti-oxidative capacity and natural immunity to prevent and minimize symptoms when a virus attacks the human body. The host environment is crucial. Preventing is obviously easier than treating severe illness. But treat serious illness seriously. Do not hesitate to seek medical attention. It is not an either-or choice. Vitamin C can be used right along with medicines when they are indicated.

"I have not seen any flu yet that was not cured or markedly ameliorated by massive doses of vitamin C."

(Robert F. Cathcart, MD)

The physicians of the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service and the International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine urge a nutrient-based method to prevent or minimize symptoms for future viral infection. The following inexpensive supplemental levels are recommended for adults; for children reduce these in proportion to body weight:

Vitamin C: 3,000 milligrams (or more) daily, in divided doses.

Vitamin D3: 2,000 International Units daily. (Start with 5,000 IU/day for two weeks, then reduce to 2,000)

Magnesium: 400 mg daily (in citrate, malate, chelate, or chloride form)

Zinc: 20 mg daily

Selenium: 100 mcg (micrograms) daily

Vitamin C [1], Vitamin D [2], magnesium [3], zinc [4], and selenium [5] have been shown to strengthen the immune system against viruses.

The basis for using high doses of vitamin C to prevent and combat virus-caused illness may be traced back to vitamin C's early success against polio, first reported in the late 1940s.[6] Many people are unaware, even surprised, to learn this. Further clinical evidence built up over the decades, leading to an anti-virus protocol published in 1980.[7]

It is important to remember that preventing and treating respiratory infections with large amounts of vitamin C is well established. Those who believe that vitamin C generally has merit, but massive doses are ineffective or somehow harmful, will do well to read the original papers for themselves. To dismiss the work of these doctors simply because they had success so long ago sidesteps a more important question: Why has the benefit of their clinical experience not been presented to the public by responsible governmental authorities, especially in the face of a viral pandemic?

Greetings from 21 miles due West of the Nations COVID-19 infection epicenter in Kirkland, WA where 20 of Washington State's 23 deaths and 31 of US deaths due to this virus have occurred.   These 20 deaths were directly linked to the Life Care Center managed care nursing home in Kirkland, WA.  Even the local TV stations are pointing out the CDC, State and local public health officials dropped the ball on residents at this managed care facility by failing to take prudent actions.

The first US death attributed to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus occurred to a resident of this facility on 29 Feb and that person had been hospitalized at least 10 days earlier, yet no actions were taken by public health officials at this facility.  Help didn't arrive until last Saturday when a CDC team of 30 MDs, PAs, RNs and epidemiologists went into this facility.  By then half the Life Care Center's staff were absent in home quarantine with COVID-19 symptoms.  This wasn't the staff's fault.

In other news, crude oil prices continue to tank at ~ $33/bbl. and this has the markets continued tanking by > 900 points this morning.  As it costs ~ $37/bbl to produce, the supply of crude oil will start to drop as producers cut back on production.  This will last until the price/bbl goes up.  It's likely a good idea to watch gas prices at the pump and take prudent actions.

The world's COVID-19 novel coronavirus tally as of this morning follows:

TUBTaxp.jpg

Well, my hair is still intact over all this as I keep things in perspective.  The sun will still rise and for our friends down under in Australia, I'm told the rains have started.  The H1N1 Swine Flu pandemic in 2009 started in early March and by November,  the CDC reported an estimated 22 million Americans had been infected with 2009 A H1N1 and 4,000 Americans died.  We're nowhere near these numbers as yet and there wasn't so much as a ripple in the markets or news at that time, yet the lame stream media is running around today like chicken little - the sky is falling.  Could it be the news media is hyping this problem out of proportions?  I think so.  If this is the case, why are they doing this?  You decide.  Perspective...

Regarding vitamin C and vitamin D3. For people who don't understand the influence of Big Pharma on vitamin C and vitamin D3, they have been obfuscating and down playing reports of efficacy in taking vitamin C and vitamin D3 since the '60s  They've done this as any increase in people taking these vitamins will hit their bread and butter bottom line mega buck profits in statins, heart medications and cancer treatments big time.

My logic on taking these two vitamins and their capacity to boost immune functions in advance of any infection by the COVID-19 novel coronavirus simple.  There are ample studies attesting to the efficacy of these vitamins in preventing colds and seasonal flu.  As our immune systems are the only thing that stops a viral infection, we need to keep our immune systems as healthy as possible, vitamin D3 and vitamin C do just that.

The majority of studies on these two vitamins were observational and not the gold standard randomized, placebo controlled and blinded RCTs.  This is what Big Pharma and their medical evidence mafia quickly point out. What few RCTs of these vitamins that have been conducted were poorly designed with doses too low to do any good so were "Inconclusive."  Big Pharma jumps on these studies and supports many articles heralding the inconclusive results.

I say look at the prevailing data.  50 Tons of vitamin D3 shipped to Wuhan the second week in February.  Hmmm... what do doctors there know that the CDC is not telling us?  3 gold standard RCTs have likely started in China using IV vitamin C infusions (IVC) to treat COVID-19 coronavirus induced pneumonia.  Officials in Shanghai are now recommending IVC for all cases of COVID-19 coronavirus induced pneumonia.  What do they know that the CDC is not telling us?  We still have several studies using vitamin C to prevent colds and flu, they're just not gold standard RCTs.

I ordered a Kg of powdered vitamin C from amazon.com for my sister, her two kids, their families that include five grand kids last week.  The screen grab for that order follows:

KUye63R.jpg

I checked the price of the same bulk vitamin C powder this morning...

YNEKcyD.jpg

Hmmm...  a 15% increase in price for this item at amazon.com in one week is a clear indication of supply and demand.  People are buying lots of vitamin C.  I checked with the supplier of this item.  They've filled orders for over 74,000 of their 1 Kg vitamin C powder this year and most of that has been in the last 45 days.  What do all these people know about vitamin C that the CDC is not telling us?

Back to the basics on vitamin C.  Even if you doubt its effectiveness, it is still very safe even at very high doses upwards of 18 grams/day.  The only downside is called bowel tolerance... you get the squirts if you take too much, but that's all.  Moreover, in the history of the FDAs Adverse Events Reporting System (FARES) that's been running since 1991, there has yet to be a single death attributed to either vitamin C or vitamin D3.  You can't say that for aspirin, the statins, or the mAbs (Monoclonal Antibodies) like Humera, Big Pharma's megabuck best seller.

Accordingly the way I see it, there's no down-side to taking at least 3 grams/day of vitamin C or 5,000 IU/day of vitamin D3 and a very real up-side potential they will help prevent a COVID-19 novel coronavirus infection and if you do get infected, it's likely these two vitamins will help minimize the severity of this infection.  Doctors in Wuhan and the rest of China are now using IVC to treat the pneumonia caused by the COVID-19 novel coronavirus and I strongly suspect doctors in South Korea are doing the same.  Their death rate to this virus is 0.78% and there are no shortages of RT-PCR test kits for the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.

So there is today's missive.  Keep things in perspective and take care.

The markets around the world are in full panic mode.  US Markets were limit down yesterday (stopped trading for 15 minutes if the S&P goes down by 7%) and are already 6.5% down this morning at the opening bell. (That just happened at 06:36 PDT, 6 minutes after the markets opened. )

There are a couple interesting news items breaking that the lame stream media won't cover. The first centers on Italy where epidemiologists have found Italy Is second country with coronavirus outbreak preceded by a tuberculosis epidemic. China was the first...

There are a couple implications here.  In Italy, most of the deaths have occurred around areas heavily populated by a recent influx of immigrants.  They've been testing with the RT-PCR COVID-19 test probes, but not for tuberculosis so it's unclear if these deaths were due to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus or TB.  In either case, the pneumonia caused by the coronavirus and TB are both treated with vitamin D3 and Vitamin C IV infusions.  That means it isn't as bad as it appears here in the US.  As of 14:40 yesterday PDT, 23 of the 30 deaths in Washington state and of the 38 deaths in the US, occurred among residents of the Life Care Center nursing home in Kirkland, WA.  That also means as the infection rate goes up, the death rate will not go up nearly as fast.

Again, South Korea is the best indication of the death rate at 0.8% for the last three days as they have no shortage of the RT-PCR test kit probes for the COVID-19 novel coronavirus so their infection numbers are likely much closer to the actual.

The other good news is Dr. Oz was on Fox news Wednesday and let the cat out of the bag by saying taking vitamin C and vitamin C3 can help prevent and also treat  a COVID-19 novel coronavirus infection.  He said it sotto voce and the dose was too low by our standards... but he said it on TV!

Dr. Brownstein has an excellent article on being ready for the COVID-19 novel coronavirus that sounds very similar to what I've been saying.  You decide.

Coronavirus VII: We Are Ready and You Can Be Ready Too!

All for now.  And yes, my hair is doing just fine and the Dow is down 2,000 points and oil is at $30/bbl.

Take care,

Hey Physmom,

Great question.  As far as vitamin C goes, kids eating solid food can take the vitamin C gummies.  They're great so give them 3 gummies a day with meals.  The bulk vitamin C powder is the least expensive at 3 cents/gram and easy to dose with a quarter to half teaspoon in a glass of orange or pineapple juice three times a day.  There's no toxicity to vitamin C.  There is however, bowel tolerance where too much vitamin C, usually in pill form will cause osmotic diarrhea, but we're talking over15 grams/day before that's a problem.  If it does happens, just cut back on the dose.

Vitamin D3 is also non-toxic at the doses we take for CH that can go as high as 40,000 IU/day.  The suggested dosing for kids is 50 IU vitamin D3 per pound of body weight per day.  That means a 20 lb infant can take 1000 IU/day or 7,000 IU once a week.  Both dosing schedules are equally effective.  For kids weighing 100 lbs or more, there's nothing wrong with the adult dose of 5000 to 10,000 IU/day as long as they also take a multi-vitamin and multi-mineral tablet a day.  I like the Kirkland brand Adult 50+ Mature Multi as it contains nearly all the essential cofactors needed to metabolize vitamin D3.

I've had all my grand kids on this vitamin D3 dosing schedule.  The last three were bathed in maternal vitamin D3 from conception through breast feeding as their mothers were taking the same anti-inflammatory regimen I suggest to CHers with 10,000 IU/day vitamin D3.  After breast feeding they all got vitamin D3 at a dose of 50 IU/lb of body weight/day.

These kids are super healthy with T-Rex immune systems.  They don't get sick.  They have a remarkable rate of growth and neuromotor development.  They're also all budding Einsteins in intellect.  My granddaughter Fred, a.k.a., Winefred was speaking fluent Hochdeutsch at age two and attended pre-kindergarten in Heidleberg, Germany at age 4 where no English was spoken.

8uuTgnd.jpg

I just completed my analysis of available information on the COVID-19 coronavirus and the bottom line is simple.  As long as we're otherwise healthy, taking 3 grams/day vitamin C and at least 5000 IU/day vitamin D3, there's no reason why we cant go about routine daily activities as usual.  The risk of infection from the COVID-19 coronavirus for us in this case will be very low and should it infect, the symptoms will be mild.  I'll detail my thinking later this morning.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

Well… that was the week that was, as they used to say on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In  a comedy show that ran '67 – ’71.

The markets had the wildest week in history with the DOW taking a 2,000-point (10%) loss (largest loss in history) on Thursday and 1,984-point gain on Friday in response to President Trump’s declaration of a National Emergency.  This declaration gave President Trump authorization for another $50 Billion in aid, direct purchase of COVID-19 coronavirus RT-PCR test kits and testing equipment from Swiss pharmaceutical firm Roche.  The market futures are already down this morning with the DOW down by over 1000 points and I expect to see limit down halts during the day like on Thursday .  The smart hedge fund traders are making a mint on swings like this. They are also the prime movers of market indexes.

If you haven’t noticed, with the exception of Dr. Anthony Fauci, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Seema Verma, Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and VADM Jerome M. Adams, M.D., M.P.H. Surgeon General , the rest of the talking heads from HHS are no longer on stage with Vice President Pence or President Trump during pressers.  That includes CDC Director Robert R. Redfield, M.D. and Secretary HHS, Alex M. Azar II.

This is completely understandable as the law of unintended consequence went into effect with the CDC acquiring and shipping out COVID-19 coronavirus RT-PCR test kits and policy for their use has been a slow-motion train wreck in progress since the get-go in early February.  That’s when 95 of the first 100 test kits shipped out by the CDC were found to be defective.  Were I a betting person, I would look for a quiet shake-up in leadership at HHS and CDC when the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic dust settles.  These people let down President Trump and all of us, big time.  They also dropped the ball on residents at the Life Care Center of Kirkland.

As of 00:01 this morning the US death toll climbed to 69 and of the 37 deaths reported in King County, (greater Seattle, WA) 29 are associated with Life Care Center of Kirkland.  The COVID-19 coronavirus incubator.  If you haven’t done the math, more than half the US deaths were from the greater Seattle area 21 miles due East of me.

The US total COVID-19 coronavirus cases jumped by 737 on the 15th bringing the total of cases to 3,782.  Expect the reported number of COVID-19 coronavirus case to jump even further this week as more drive-thru COVID-19 coronavirus testing locations open up.  I'm afraid this "good idea" will fall victim to the law of unintended consequence due to the logistics involved.  Test results will find their way back to the individuals going through the drive-thru locations  but not back to their doctor or into their medical records so additional tests will be needed.  I'm of the opinion, people experiencing a fever, dry cough and trouble breathing need to call their doctor.  Doctors will cut a script and send it to the collection location at Quest Diagnostic or LabCorp nearest you.  They know how to track these tests properly and relay results back to their doctors where they need to be.

I’m also of the opinion the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic data coming from Switzerland is the most accurate.  The Swiss have no shortage of COVID-19 coronavirus RT-PCR test equipment, they have an excellent national healthcare system with some of the finest hospitals in the world staffed with excellent doctors and scientists.  I’ve traveled to Switzerland on three separate occasions 2009 – 2010 to attend meetings with cluster headache experts, so know this first hand.  Switzerland closed its border with Italy last month and has also restricted immigration more than any other country in Europe with the exception of Liechtenstein which neighbors Switzerland and Austria.  It is Europe's fourth-smallest country located in the Alps with an area of just over 160 square kilometres (62 square miles) and a population of 38,557 according to Wikipedia.  The national industry and largest employer in Liechtenstein is banking.  Switzerland has 2,217 reported cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection and 14 deaths for a death rate of 0.63%

Keeping all this in perspective is important. For example, so far this year, there have been 81 people shot and killed in Chicago and 352 shot and wounded, but the fake news media has said nothing about this.

We are still at war with the COVID-19 coronavirus and I suspect it will take months until we take the high ground with ongoing efforts to reduce transmission to the point the rate of new cases and deaths due to the COVID-19 coronavirus start dropping.

I am still concerned the CDC hasn’t given the public available information on the capacity of vitamin C and vitamin D3 to reduce viral infections like colds and flu.  In the history of the FDAs Adverse Events Reporting System (FAERS) that’s been running since 1991, there has yet to be a death attributed to either vitamin.  We can’t say that for aspirin, Humira (adalimumab) or the Statins.

That said, there were two bright spots last week in this area.  Dr Oz came on Fox saying we should take vitamin C 250 mg/day and 1500 IU of vitamin D3 a day to help prepare our immune systems for the COVID-19 coronavirus.  He said this sotu vocce and the doses are a bit low, but he did let the cat out of the bag on the need for vitamin D and vitamin D3.  Another MD also came on Fox saying the same thing.

In addition, there were two articles on higher doses of these two vitamins to prevent viral infections and in treating acute respiratory infections and pneumonia with them.  The following from Dr. Brownstein, MD and Dr. Ron Hunninghake, MD at the Riordan Clinic are excellent advice and important need to know information to prepare for possible COVID-19 coronavirus infection and if this bug does hit. Most doctors and ICU staffs are not familiar with the Vitamin C IVC protocol for pneumonia, the leading cause of death from the COVID-19 Coronavirus and Sepsis from the cytokine storm caused by this virus.  Accordingly, God forbid you do get this bug and have lung issues, should this happen, demand this Vitamin C IVC protocol and don't take "No" for an answer.  You can find the vitamin C (IVC) protocol at the following link:

Coronavirus IX: What to Avoid–Ibuprofen–And What to Take

March 14, 2020

Our misery continues! Today, I went to buy my mother toilet paper at 6am and the local grocery store shelves were emptied. Do not fear, as I found it later at a different store. Later today, mom tasked me with finding eggs. That took two different stores as well before I found them!  But, this is a time NOT to panic.  It is a time to pull together and support each other.   Many are recovering uneventfully–we just don’t hear about it.  I have seen numerous patients over the past month that may have had it.  I couldn’t test them because of a lack of kits, but they all recovered.  Of course some are very sick and dying.  Overall, I believe we will come through this with a death rate similar or slightly higher than the rate for the common flu. But, we will never know the true numbers because of a lack of test kits.  I do not think this crisis will persist into the summer months. As we begin to test more patients, we will see the mortality rate decline.  Of course, those are only my predictions, as we know that viruses can mutate.  This virus is very contagious but it is a flu-like illness for most who get it.  That must be kept in mind. And, eating a healthy diet and maintaining optimal hydration can help dramatically. More about that later.

We are in this mess due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If the CDC had done their job, COVID-19 would be contained and manageable. The Powers-That-Be at the CDC failed miserably compared to other countries. My recent blog post “Coronavirus VIII: Why Does S. Korea Have Lower Death Rate Compared to US?” was about the success in S. Korea at fighting COVID-19. Taiwan is another example for the US CDC to learn from. As of March 13, Taiwan has 50 COVID-19 cases and 1 death. (1) Keep in mind that Taiwan is 81 miles from mainland China and has 24 million citizens. A March 3, 2020 JAMA article detailed the rapid and complete response the Taiwanese health authorities implemented at the beginning of this crisis.

December 31, 2019 was the day Chinese officials notified the WHO that Chinese citizens were suffering unusually severe cases of pneumonia. That same day Taiwan began monitoring all passengers who arrived from Wuhan. A few days later, they started monitoring all people who had travelled to Wuhan since December 20. They increased their surveillance and testing and the rest is history; 50 cases and 1 death as of March 13, 2020.

I have discussed what our CDC did in previous blog posts. They refused test kits from the WHO, developed their own faulty kits and refused private labs from testing sick individuals. The postmortem on this story will be ugly for the CDC. We are in a mess now with COVID-19 spreading across the country.

But, all is not lost. As I have detailed in other posts, there are many things you can do to improve your immune system and help you avoid COVID-19 problems:

– Eat a healthy diet FREE OF REFINED SUGAR! It should also be free of all refined food sources including salt, flour, and oils. Remember, refined sugar paralyzes the ability of white blood cells to perform their duties for hours.

– Make sure you always STAY WELL HYDRATED with clean water. Take your weight in pounds, divide the  number by 2 and the resultant number is the minimum amount of water in ounces to drink per day.

– NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS can help to improve the immune system’s ability to fight off an infection and to help it kill an active infection. I have over 25 years of practicing holistic medicine to back that statement up. I have seen it work. My partners have seen it work. My patients have seen it work.  We have used this approach successfully for many viral infections.  I have no doubt it will work for COVID-19 as well.

In my blog post “Coronavirus Part Vl: Why COVID-19 Is More Deadly to the Chinese” (3) I told you why COVID-19 was more deadly to younger Chinese males. Most Chinese men smoke cigarettes. Smoking increases ACE2 receptors in the lungs where COVID-19 has been shown to bind to. Similarly, ibuprofen has been shown to increase ACE 2 expression. (4) Ibuprofen should be avoided as it may enhance the infectious capabilities of COVID-19. Ibuprofen also causes problems for the kidneys and the GI tract. It is best to let the body utilize its innate abilities to fight an infection. One of the body’s main ways to do this is by mounting a fever. The increased body temperature is a way to mobilize the immune system into action as well as to enhance the killing effect of a foreign invader. Fevers can often be managed by tepid baths, lots of hydration and rest. It is important to maintain electrolyte balance with any infection but particularly when there is fever involved. Supplementing with unrefined salt is crucial here. It can be added to each glass of water. Again, it is best to work with a knowledgeable health care provider before doing any of the suggestions I have written about.

Acetaminophen should also be avoided for fevers.  It depletes a crucial antioxidant–glutathione.  In fact, acetaminophen should be severely limited for any condition.  It has a poor safety profile.

Dr. B’s antiviral protocol for his patients during acute illness or exposure to someone ill:

Vitamin A (NOT beta carotene)

– Adults: 100,000 IU/day for four days for adults (not pregnant or breast-feeding women)
– Children 25-50 pounds: 20,000 IU/day for four days
– Children 50-100 pounds: 50,000 IU/day for four days

Vitamin D3
– Adults: —50,000 IU/day for four days
– Children 25-50 pounds: 10,000 IU/day
– Children: 50-100 pounds: 25,000 IU/day

(Note: Both Vitamin A and D are fat-soluble vitamins. They can build up in the body. These doses are NOT meant to be taken for longer than four days at time. If you need to repeat the doses, seek advice from your physician.)

Vitamin C: 5-10,000 mg/day.  If you can take more, do it.  If you get loose stools, lower it.

Iodine: 25-100 mg/day and more if ill.  Kids can take lower doses.

-Children:  A useful number is to use 0.08mg/pound.

Don’t forget intravenous nutrient therapies are essential for helping the immune system in a time of crises.  A holistic doctor skilled in nutrient IV therapy can help guide you.  I have found IV hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and vitamin C wonderful treatments for my patients.  We would have a lot less death and misery from COVID-19 if these life-saving therapies were taught in medical schools and utilized in hospitals.

Final Thoughts:
This crises will pass. When it does, we need new leadership at CDC, FDA, and HHS. They have all failed us. You don’t have to wait for the Government to come to your rescue. You can take matters into your own hands. Find a holistic doctor who can help you achieve your optimal health. We are ready at the Center for Holistic Medicine to begin the journey with you.

I realize this is a lot to read.  That said, if you’re home with the kids or just home as there’s no place to go that’s open, there is some good information here.

There are two videos you need to watch.  The first is "Battlefield Cell" by Curiosity and a second presentation by Dr. Linus Pauling titled "Preventing Illnesses and Diseases with Vitamin C." at the following two links.  Linus Pauling won two individual Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Peace.  He helped stop above ground nuclear bomb testing.  If you have kids, have them watch these videos with you then discuss them.

All for now.  More to follow as new information is breaking fast.

I buy groceries for the month (fixed income). Wal-Mart had no bread, no meats, no canned meats, no cheese, no milk, no eggs, no frozen dinners, no milk, no toilet paper & no paper towels. I called when home. Store is normally open 24/7. Now closes at 9 to restock. I was told to be there when they open at 7a & hopefully they'll have something I can afford. A BIG shout out to those who have the resources to buy ALL of the groceries & leave NONE for the most vulnerable population. I live in a food desert, compounded by panic & greed. I have transportation, those who do not made long trips & came home empty handed too.

I have worked in the grocery industry for 30 years. I have never seen people behave so badly and act so scared.I worked 74 hrs last week and will prolly work more this week. One of my employees was threatened by a customer yesterday because we are out of product. When the government says stay at home and wash your hands. Please listen. They don't mean hoard the grocery store and buy tp.

Hey BOF,

I know and it's sad.  We live near Bremerton, 21 miles West from the Nation's epicenter of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Kirkland Washington in the greater Seattle area with 909 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection and 48 deaths.  The TP and paper towel shelves at Safeway, a mile from our home were bare as were shelves with the cleaning supplies and sanitizer sprays were bare by Saturday morning and all were still bare around 5 pm this afternoon.  I went to Costco Saturday and watched a stock clerk roll a pallet of TP onto the shopping area on a pallet jack.  The TP on that pallet was gone in less than 30 seconds.

People are frightened and panic buying is a clear indication.  They need to know there is something else they can do to prevent infection with this virus besides the CDC litany of washing hands, coughing in a hanky, not touching face or mouth, self imposed quarantine and now mandated social distancing with closed bars and restaurants. That's as frightening as the fear of infection by this virus. Our every day routine has changed dramatically.

What the CDC and HHS are not telling us is we can strengthen our immune systems by taking vitamin C and vitamin D3.  Unfortunately, the CDC and HHS are not advising President Trump or Vice President Pence about this either.  They are not doing this for the simple reason that most of the leadership in these organization came through the revolving door from Big Pharma.  It's no secret that Big Pharma does not want people to know how effective vitamin C and vitamin D3 can be in fighting viral infections. If peeople did know this and started taking vitamins and minerals to stay healthy, it would hurt the Big Pharma bottom line.   HHS Secretary Alex Azar is a classic example.  From 2007 through January 2017, Azar was a senior executive at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He may be a good guy and doing a great job at HHS with years of experience in leading large organizations, but he, more than likely still carries a bias when it comes to policy decisions to favor or protect Big Pharma.

Viral infection outbreaks have been happening for thousands of years before there was any "modern" medicine with antivirals and vaccines.  There are two things that stop a viral infection outbreak in nature now like they have for thousands of years prior to man-made pharmaceuticals (that don't work) and vaccines (that don't work either).  Those two things are the innate immune system and the adaptive Immune system.

Cells of the innate immune system are our first line of defense against invading virus.  As these cells fight the virus, cells of the adaptive immune system remember the virus and encode instructions on how to build the antibodies needed to defend against it into DNA. That way as these cells divide, they carry this genetic code for these antibodies on to their offspring to fight this specific virus more effectively the next time it comes around. In short, this individual is now immune to this specific virus.

Both parts of our immune system need vitamin C and vitamin D3 to function effectively.

w7Epgij.jpg

If our innate immune system is strong and functioning properly, it will fight off a viral infection.  One of the defense mechanisms is increasing body temperature above 101º F to kill virus.

Why am I saying all this and trying hard to help people gain greater awareness that vitamin C and vitamin D3 can help prevent COVID-19 infection?  Simple.  Remember the feeling you had when you discovered mm stopped or controlled your CH to the point you could live a normal life?  Those of us taking vitamin D3 had that same Woo Hoo feeling.  Imagine what it's going to be like when people realize vitamin C and vitamin D3 help prevent COVID-19 infection.

Tuesday, 03:30 16 March.

I watched a 3 minute segment of Fox Business News at 02:55 PDT with an American in Wuhan, China.  He was upbeat saying the infection and death rate has dropped dramatically essentially saying people in Wuhan think the COVID-19 pandemic has run its course.  That's Woo Hoo Good News!  At 06:00 DOW futures were down 150 and heading South rapidly.  10 minutes later, the DOW was up 150. At 06:30 EDT the DOW was bouncing around at 200.  As market analysts go over the infection rates and see this drop in Wuhan, I think the markets will continue to climb.

If you take the news from Wuhan, China at face value, it was roughly 3 months from COVID-19 outbreak to fizzle.  That means it appears we could see the COVID-19 infection rate drop here in the US by the end of May.   All for now.

Take care, take your vitamin C and vitamin D3 and hang in there. This too will pass.

I'd like to stay home, Wal-Mart 7a, wouldn't have gone inside if I had food, witnessed the bread aisle & fled before seeing bloodshed. So tomorrow high risk me goes out for the 3rd time. Keep in mind I buy 1 month of food in 1 day every month.
