Recently visited hematologist for abnormal antiphosolipid results (auto immune clotting disorder). I have just been diagnosed with CH and thought it would be a wise idea to make sure CH wasn't somehow related. I also have been having other autoimmune symptoms for 10 years.
Here is the letter copied and pasted;
I have reviewed the result of your lupus antiicoagulant test and it is normal. I do not think we should keep on testing. As per aspirin use, there is no clear evidence that you need that at this time. If Dr. $$$$ thinks you should take it, that is fine with me. By the way, your carboxyhemoglobin level was quite high. I understand that you smoke but I did not thin you smoked that much. This markedly elevated carboxyhemoglobin can account for many of the symptoms that you have including the headaches that get better with oxygen.
FYI-level was 6.3%
Nonsmoker average is 3%
Smokers average is "up to 10-15%" (per Medscape)
What a f@&ckin idiot.
My response; (haven't sent it yet so any added suggestions is great)
I am so very pleased to hear that the anti phospholipid results are inconclusive. I am even more excited to hear that when I quit smoking, I will no longer have to deal with photo sensitivity to the sun, joint pain, extreme fatigue, skin rashes, memory dysfunction..... The best part of all, when I quit smoking my suicide headaches will be gone!!!!! I can't imagine that the neurologists haven't discovered this miraculous cure before now! I'll let you know how it goes. ; [smiley=angry.gif] >
