  1. CHfather I cannot emphasize enough how much I have tried to get this doctor to prescribe proper pills. I don't get it. I told him about verapamil and he says no that won't help him because that is for hypertension. I almost went off on him there, but I managed to keep my composure. I am going to start looking for a different doctor. The medication we are going to try is metoprolol. I'll be honest my father can be very difficult and so I am doing what he said as this was his idea. I have no hopes of this medication working but he wanted it as it was something he was prescribed for his blood pressure a while back. I tell him about wielding oxygen and he declines.......someone please tell me what am I to do here? He expects immediate results and I tell him, unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. I just don't know what else I can do.
  2. First off thank you to everyone here. So much info and support. I don't know what else to say other than thank you. ThatHurtsMyHead, I greatly appreciate your offer man but I am in California. Regardless just to offer such help to someone you don't even know just thank you man. Well I'll do a little update now. The doctor constantly pushes us to go get an MRI but my father doesn't want to as he isn't feeling well enough to do so. Nor does he want me to call 911 to have him escorted to the ER. His blood pressure sky rockets when the headache hits and so we are going to try some blood pressure bills and hope that does something. Spiny I had a question about the D3. I haven't had a chance to really look that deep into it but I do remember a table of different pills. Does he need to take one of everything? or were those just options that he could choose from? I probably should look at that page but at the moment I just don't have the time to do so which is why I am asking. Any feedback, as always, is greatly appreciated. Take care everyone.
  3. Thank you. As I am writing this another wave has come upon him and he can't take it. Dallas, or anyone, please inform me on wielding oxygen. I would appreciate some details regarding it because I don't know what else I can do.
  4. Hello everyone As I am writing this my father is being hit worse than usual. I tried everything to calm him down the best I could but of course nothing worked. So now I have to stand here and watch him suffer the likes that I had never seen before. I have a call coming in from the doctor today and I swear I am at my wits end because if he doesn't give us the oxygen therapy I might just go off on him. This thing is destroying our family. Every time he is hit all he does is pray for death. I can't take it anymore. Sorry but I had to get this off my chest. Hope everyone else is having a better day.
  5. Hello Spiny I'll follow the melatonin dosage as you recommended here. I hope this will give my father some relief until the headache goes into remission again, and hopefully will never come back. I'm sure trader joes will have tons of these so i'll just get it from there. On a side note I have heard that some people will drink tons of water throughout the day and that will somewhat stop the hits or at least reduce them. Have you heard such things yourself? I don't think that would be a route I would want my father to take as he would need to be near a bathroom most of the day . Just curious if you or anyone else has heard anything about that? Thanks again Spiny for the info. I'll try to convince my father to take the melatonin and will update what the results are. In the meantime take care .
  6. Hey CHfather You make a good point. I was thinking of getting the 10mg bottle but the 5mg might be the way to go. Since that way I can go from 10 to 15 then to 20. Thanks for the input.
  7. Thank you for this spiny I appreciate it. I have a question for the melatonin usage. How soon should I have him increase his dosage from 10mg to 20mg or more. Does his body need time to get used to the 10mg dosage and if so how long? The energy shot is one that I have been hearing great things about and so I will definately get a box of 5 hour energy for him and pray that gives him some relief. I am grateful that I found this page because the information and the people here are just great. Thank you again
  8. Hello everyone My fathers cluster headaches returned 3 weeks ago and I have desperately been looking for anything that can help. I got a lot of great information from the people and the articles on this forum. My father is 59 and had a heart attack about eight years ago so sumatriptin is out of the question unfortunately. It doesn't look like we can get our medical insurance to cover oxygen therapy but I won't give up on that just yet. I want to give him melatonin, 10mg pill, with verapamil if we can get the doctor to prescribe it for him. For those who use melatonin, how successful has it been for you? Any side effects from doing this? And also for verapamil users what has the success rate been for you and what are the major side effects, if any? Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.
  9. CHfather thank you so much for this helpful response. I will definitely look at it in detail and hope that my father can see some results from it. Unfortunately he does not take sumatriptin as he has heart issues and that medication can cause future problems including another heart attack. We are fighting to get the oxygen tank for him at the moment. I have read such great things about psychedelics regarding cluster headaches but I just can't get that stuff. Thank you again for your helpful comment and links.
  10. Thank you Rod H and jfrillin for responding I truly appreciate it. I will fight as hard as I can to get oxygen therapy for my dad until the headache decides it has done enough damage and goes away for a while. It is hell when you are forced to stand there unable to do anything to help alleviate the pain. I have never seen suffering of this magnitude. Again thank you for responding to my questions. Take care
  11. Hello everyone I am new to this forum. My father suffers from cluster headaches and about 3 weeks ago his headaches returned. I was wondering for those who use oxygen therapy and sumatriptin what is the success rate of this form of treatment and how long are you pain free when you use it? I have done research on LSD and how it works wonders but there is no way I can get my hands on anything like that. However, If anyone here uses LSD I would greatly appreciate any information you could give me as far as how well it works for you. I myself do not suffer from cluster headaches but as someone that has to watch someone suffer on a daily basis.....it just kills me. To everyone on this forum who suffers I am so sorry you have to know such a horrible pain. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you and I wish you all the best.
