For over 20 years, Clusterbusters has partnered with academic and medical researchers to understand cluster headache and improve treatment. We help act as a bridge to help advance research by posting ongoing studies below. Some studies are testing preventives, some are looking at treatments we already use in new ways, and some are simply gathering information about what living with this condition actually looks like day to day.

The clinical trials and studies listed below are open and enrolling now. Each listing explains who is eligible and how to reach the study team. When a study wraps up, watch our news and updates for what the researchers found.

Sign Up for the Patient Registry

Take a few minutes to your name and help make the next study possible. Be matched with research and clinical trials relevant to your cluster headache experience. Open to anyone with cluster headache, worldwide.

Current Studies

The following studies are actively enrolling participants. If you have cluster headache you may be eligible for one or more of these trials.

We will update this section in the fall of 2026.

Closed Studies

These studies have completed enrollment. They are included here as a record of the research Clusterbusters has supported and facilitated over the years.

Personal and Environmental Factors in Cluster Headache Attacks

This study is closed.

There are many reasons why cluster headache attacks may occur. The aim of this study is to determine what personal and environmental factors may play a role in the timing and severity of cluster attacks. Gathering data on this topic is critical to help formulate guidelines which doctors can follow in order to best manage patients with cluster headache. This study is being conducted at Yale University’s Department of Neurology under the leadership of Drs. Brian Koo and Emmanuelle Schindler, and has been approved by Yale’s Institutional Review Board for Research.

Cluster Headache Diagnosis Study (CHAT)
