This was a very moving watch. I watched it before I dosed on shrooms this saturday. I used to be very against "recreational" things like this. But after watching this and seeing the results from Dan, I ended up wanting to do anything it took to abort these damn things. Needless to say I dosed on shrooms this saturday and have been having some of the best results in my life from this form of treatment. I wont ever hesitate to continue with this alternative routine. Being able to sleep has been a real gift. Having to no longer punch myself in the head and having pain is an even bigger gift. Or as Dan said it was either this or a a bullet and I am eposodic bordering on chronic. I could not imagine not having breaks in between cycles. Big props to Dan and his family....

I will go without them and try to stay free of the meds. this will be awesome and even more awesome on the wallet...

In your opinion, would you stay away from the meds now that I have gone this may days without them, I was wondering if i should try to add verapamil back into my system or if i should just stay away from the meds all together and dose again and if need be dose again after that. I was reading that verapamil seemed to be ok but I was thinking that if i could stay off all the pharmaceuticals it might be better for me?

Awesome, I will give this a try.

I am so glad to hear that! I thought to myself and even cried out loud "why isnt this working", it was not at the typical time that I had it, it was longer than any hit I had ever had but I feel really good today. I didnt get my typical 6:15 wake up call from the beast. It was not a typical hit to say the least and it was with me for almost 3 damn hours and it was intense - it didnt do the typical ending how they normally do either, it stayed with me but it was a pain where i could sit still and actually lay down, it was like a kip-1 or 2 i kept asking when it was going to finally end in fact. Generally after an hour and half it normally drains away and I get back to normal, but this sucker hung on for a long time. I am glad to hear that this is more than likely the ending. I remember in past cycles having that one major major one and then they would start to fade away and go dormant. It was almost like this in a sense but I really did think this isnt going to end wow, I even told my wife, this isnt normal how long this one is hanging around for. I did have some shadows yesterday as well, and did feel hung over, dizzy more than anything else but I drank a red bull and took one excederin. I have still not taken any meds as of today, no verapamil, no imitriex, no nothing. You know one thing I remember doing while tripping was flipping off (giving the bird) to my doc and to the phramacy and then laughing to myself that I wont need to take that crap anymore.

I just might try it that way. The part that I am frustrated with is that they didnt go away completly yet... I am thinking I will need at least one more dose to abort this cycle. Last night after I posted my original post I was hit with a kip-8 to a kip 9, it lasted the longest I have ever had, it was almost 3 hours long then after that I actually fell asleep and slept all the way through the night for the first time since I started this cycle. I am thinking that because I didnt start to bust until my second week of the cycle it would be normal to expect to have to dose again? By the way I also watched the Nation Geo show that had Dan in it. Great show. I am looking forward to busting again later this week to see if I can abort this cycle for good and then start maintenance doses.

So for the past 6 days I stayed clear of all meds. Verapamil, Imitriex, etc... I drank a lot of water, ate pretty clean, "chicken rice"... I was able to get a hold of some meds B+ strain and last night for the very first time in my life went on a trip. I am 40 years old and have gotten to the point that I would do anything to abort the worst cycle of my life so far, (about 20 years). I haven't had a drink in years due to fear of a ch. lol I am always the designated driver. As I was saying I had never done anything other than Pot in my life and the occasional drink. My doctors office called me friday to let me know that they were going to call in a new rx of indomethacine and were trying to get my insurance company to authorise more imitrex. But like I said I stayed strong and didn't use anything for 6 days. I did have tons of red bull tho. My body has been sore, I have scabs on my skull from pulling my hair out and I have just been a tired dude. My wife and I thought about this option for many days, then we said I would do anything and my wife said its organic, it grows from the ground - try it. So I planned out the night ahead of time. I had a light dinner of chicken burrito a red bull and some water. Around 8 PM I weighed out 1.4 grams and began to eat the medicine - I chewed really well and ground with my back teeth. I waited about 35 minutes or so and wasn't having much of an affect. So I weighed out another gram and down it went. I had pre-loaded my ipod with some nice mellow relaxing music (pink floyd). About 20 minutes later I had a very nice relaxing level 2 maybe 2.5 lol....I laid down in our room with my wife and my head was almost numb in a way. My left nostril opened up all of the way and at the time I would be going through a hit, my head felt like a tingle sensation almost cold in a certain areas where the pain would usually be. Then It felt almost like I was being pinch behind my eye rather than a hot rod poking my brain out. I am going to be very honest with all of you, I enjoyed the trip, it was so relaxing and really cleared my head, I didn't think or was thinking about when the next hit was going to come, I laid back, put my headphones on, started my ipod and listened to an amazing album by pink floyd that not a lot of people know of called zabriskie point. Soon after a few hours I fell asleep, about 4 in the morning I was up with a bad hit, I raced downstairs to my fridge slammed a red bull and within 5 -7 minutes it was gone, but it was more painful than the past few days. So far today I have been hit free, however about an hour ago I was hit with one that lasted for about 15 minutes. I slammed a small red bull and that's all I have had today. As I am writing this I have a very light shadow with the tingle sensation. It feels ok. This is the best I have felt in several weeks, come to think of it, in a long time. I thought and concentrated more clear than in a long time today, I had smile as well. I will be doing a dose again on Friday - and then if need be another one after that and then maintenance doses. To be very honest I sure wont mind doing it again. It was very enjoyable and a great experience. I plan to start a garden soon as in a few weeks. Thanks to all of you who have provided all of this great advice and the FAQ page especially. I followed the advice on here and was very impressed with my results. Should anyone want to contact me and ask me questions or anything of the sort, feel free to do so. Like I said I am a 40 year old man that is a pretty successful person and have never done something or considered doing something like this before. I would not ever hesitate to be more open to ideas ever again when it comes to alternate medications such as this. The power of healing from mother nature is pretty powerful. This should be legalised !

I thought yesterday wow this is so cool that the major news outlets had this article, i know it talks about depression but later down toward the bottom of the article it talks a tad bit about cluster headaches http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/46105129/ns/health-mental_health/ -

Also, thank you very much for the link for the doc's I go to ouch all the time and didnt know if someone might have a different person they see that is not on the list. I do get tired of going to see a neuro for the same result. Last week the guy gave me a shot in the butt and said it would help, he said it was a makor anti - inflamatory. Needless to say didnt work. Red bull has become my friend but what I thought was strange is last night at 12:17 like clockwork I was woken up by a major kip 9 (actually very night is my major cluster) I was out of red bulls but slammed canada dry ginger ale, i dont know why but instead of it lasting for almost 2 hours i got the pleassure of one hour. Almost 20 years of this crap and I am so tired of it that I am at a point where I am ready to try to bust this... -

It sounds like this subject might just tick you off, but I'm going to name some things, and you can just not answer, or respond if any of them interest you. Doesn't sound like you have oxygen. For some people the "standard" 15lpm/ standard non-rebreather mask (which I assume you have or have had) doesn't work, but higher flows/better mask/demand valve do work. Have O2 sorry I didnt state that. Was a pain in the butt to get but have it. I have used it for about 10 yrs now. The anti-inflammatory vitamin D3 regimen has helped a whole lot of people, often quite quickly: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cb/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1314134804 this is worth looking into, and I will read more on it. We just had another report from someone for whom the licorice root regimen worked really well: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cb/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1298659068 I have also given this thread a good reading this morning and am thinking about it. But i would like to bust I think. Another long-time sufferer reported recently that kudzu in combination with D3 (and busting) has helped him a lot. You can see that thread here: www.clusterheadaches.com/cb/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1326294637 Okay . . . Just trying to think of something for the short term. Thank you for your response. I have been trying to get a referal of sorts to see Goadsby since he is very near to me, I only live about an hour from the SF area. -
Hello, I have been a CH for around 20 years now and am looking for a good Neuro to go and see. Im currently in the begenning stages of my bi yearly cycle and now that I have gotten older I sure am tired of this crap. I just want a good nights rest for sure. Yes yes and yes I have tried pretty much everything , the one thing I have not tried has been busting. The other night I took in about 15 red bulls and got some relief but man I sure wish I didnt have to beat my head aginst the floor anymore. Just wanted to know what Neuro you might be seeing in the Sacramento area. I currently see Dr. Stoody in Roseville who has pretty good track record with Ch's but this cycle the typical routine isnt doing its job. Had an ekg done too and they are concerned with heart so they have lowered my intake of verapamil and have told me no imitrex for longer than 3 days.

Dude, Hang in there. I dont come on here that often and have never registered but from reading what you wrote , I registered just so that I can tell you to hang in there. I have been a clustergead since I was in my early 20's , so almost 20 years now for me. I really understand what you are going through. I started a cycle on the 10th of this month and went back to my usual meds to find they are not doing anything this time around for me. This is my worst cycle yet, I dont need to get into the details of the pain, all I can say is hang in there please. If I can so can you. We can go through this together. I have about 5 more weeks of this and then I should be good to go until this summer, then another 6 weeks and I will be good for an entire year. 2 nights ago I had so much damn red bull that it was making me sick. And the worse fo it all, is I have to be off of imitrex for 3 days after an ekg in the docs office. I have since decided to no longer take the verapamil and have been on nothing other than fast paced walks and jogging in place. I have since grown so damn tired of this s^$@ that I have ended up back here, especially after reading an article that was on msnbc.com last night talking about the medical uses of mushrooms and it mentions clusters in the article. If anyone would like to have a link to this let me know... Stay positive my friend. Im trying to.
