I started the prednisone today. I am such a procastinator on pills because I just hate them and keep praying the last headache was the last, which is stupid because I know when the last one is almost immediately when it leaves. All my life they have hit mostly at night which makes it so awful because I don't even get one minute of build-up - just full force. I started verapamil yesterday 80 mg twice a day, I am not sure if that is enough, but I have pretty low blood pressure and it is rough on me in some instances. So last night, I took my 80 mg verapamil and 50 mg of Benadryl. At 1 got woke up by this nightmare - 45 minutes gone. At 2 up again and never fully left until 8 am when I got hit full force again and my husband made me take an Imitrex shot. I think I might have figured out the culprit, I had goat cheese on my burger last night and an avocado, both of those things have something with a t in them that supposedly triggers a headache. But, I have always eaten that stuff... I thought the D3 stuff was helping, my D3 number is 46 after an entire week of 50,000 IU a day of D3 so I am assuming I was pretty low before. My gratitude for all of you can't be expressed fully. You are a Godsend. My heart breaks for my husband, number one, I wake him up every single night, number two, I know he feels helpless and that might be worse than this...well, probably not... Do I need a prescription for melatonin? Also, I now have the correct prescription for Emgality, do you know if I can take that with the steroids? He also prescribed me Depakote, have not done that yet, but may tonight.

How long does it take to get relief from prednisone? Had the worst night of my life last night with these godforsaken things. Been doing D3 regimen for a week. WTH????!!!!

I got some disturbing news at the dr yesterday and forgot to ask for oxygen. I will call on Monday. I feel like my spell is leaving, will start the steroids tonight. Last night got two, they were so mild I only had to put a cold coke can on my head and ask forit to go away for about 15 minutes each. Crossing my fingers less than a week left.

Mine were in remission for eight years. I moved from Florida and just moved back, so I think there must be something in the Florida air that bothers mine.

No worries with me, I am afraid to take a Benadryl...but other people may listen...prob not wise or responsible.

My kids at a very young age learned to get me bag of frozen vegetables...I hate it when they defrost in the bed!

I feel like the D3 thing is working, but I have no patience and no pain tolerance, so I want it to stop now - just like all of us do. For years I have just rocked and cried through the pain. I think the hardest part about this time is I thought they were gone. Thank you for all of the input!

Thanks! I have never tried a five hour drink, but I will take a super strong shot of coffee. I will go grab a few this morning after my appointment. Last night was rough, up six times, but not near as intense as normal. I would not wish these things on my worst enemy.

So, I know so many of you are very familiar with the D3 deal, but for those who aren't I want to give a play by play of what has happened to me thus far. Eight years in remission - cycles typically hit twice a year - spring/fall for 8-10 weeks. Thought they were gone and on May 1st I felt it coming, thought I would die. Very mild at first, until about two weeks in and then it came full force. Imitrex zaps them out right away, I can even take it as a preventative at bed time - I do not like to do it, the drug - all drugs scare me. I started reading about the D3 stuff, so on Friday my husband got me some D3 gummies. I took 20,000 IU of them and on Saturday felt great. Got a headache Sat night after taking 50,000 IU - finally on Monday got all vitamins needed. Sunday - 50,000 UI D3 - headaches did not hit until Monday morning at 5 am Monday - started full regime - no headaches Sunday night until Monday morning at 5 am, hit with three by 8 am - the one at 8 am turned into a two day headache headache from morning still there, goes in and out. Woke up in the night twice by headaches - pretty severe, took an Imitrex injection on second one Tuesday -wake up with same lingering headache so I go to walk-in clinic- gives me Torodol shot and something that sounds like phenigran, come home sleep wake up with cluster headache Imitrex shot and all gone - take second dose of vitamins - go to bed - woken up in middle of the night by cluster, work through it, pretty severe go back to sleep - hit again, take an Imitrex injection, headache gone Weds - no headache in morning or throgh day, just stabbing pains every so often as if my cluster spell is exiting (that is how I know they are going, weird stabbing almost buzzing sometimes pains all throguhout my head) This continues all day take vitamins at night and get woken by two super mild clusters - so mild, I do not even get out of bed just talk it away and both are gone by 15 minutes Today - no pain, only the weird stabbing sensation every so often - no Imitrex in over 36 hours...I hope this is all a good sign. Will take the vitamins again tonight and see what the night holds. Sleep is oh so scary! I hope this helps someone.

@kat_92 I have a new neurologist I am going to on next Thursday, I will talk to him. Should I take the steroids? I just hate medicine. I know you really can't advise me, would you take the steroids?

So, yesterday I had the worst headache that started the morning before and I was afraid I was dehydrated so I went to walk-in clinic. Not dehydrated, just a special treat during this cluster cycle. So, the doctor prescribed Prednisone. I take 6 then 5 then 4...and so on. Now, I remember in my next to last spell about ten years ago my neurologist prescribed steroids, I don't quite remember how he presribed them. This guy was not a neurologist and I don't trust the one I am dealing with right now, so does that sound right for steroids? I feel like it does. I started the D3 regimen three days ago, praying that works also. Thanks, Chrissy

I am being so annoying and I am sorry. So, I am trying to figure out this D3 thing and it says I need 700 mcg of Vitamin A. I take a fish oil supplement that has 625 mcg of Vit A. Is this D3 thing an exact science or do I need to find a Vitamin A tablet that has only 75 mcg in it? I have to take the fish oil supplement for my dry eyes.
