Baby Moth
Has anyone used / had success with GammaCore (https://www.gammacore.com)? I am thinking of getting a prescription, but it's VERY expensive and not covered by insurance. Wanted to see if anyone had experiences with this in the community. Thank you! xBoss
Yeah, those are a price gouge. Crazy how it could work forever but they set it to self destruct. I don't think I have seen too many positive experiences here with gamma core. Hopefully more people chime in.
CHfather
@Baby Moth, your best bet for seeing posts here about GammaCore is to type gammacore into the search bar at the top right of the page. You'll get about 160 posts. 1
devonrex
Just to add, got a free trial and it did nothing more than give me an elvis sneer from the muscle contractions and nothing else.
Baby Moth
This is really helpful. Thank you! I think i going to skip the $600 price tag
devonrex
They or your doctor might be able to get one for a 3 month or whatever the battery life is on them trial, but from my and a few others I have seen here, it is pricey for a self limiting device. jojo2
I tried it twice but it did nothing for me. I hope it can help you if you so choose to try it.
Bustedbrain
Just wanted to share my experience so far, I’m episodic and am currently in a cycle and I have successful busted 2 attacks today with gamma core alone. It takes some fiddling to find just the right spot but when you find it you can tell at least in my experience. I know it doesn’t work for everyone but if you can swing the OUTRAGEOUS cost it might be worthwhile. I don’t do triptans anymore because the rebounds were too bad so this is a great option while I’m out of the house and don’t have O2. I hope this becomes more accessible soon.
CHfather
Thank you, Busted'. That's helpful information to share. Would you mind saying (1) how long it typically takes to abort an attack; (2) whether you are also using it as a preventive, as the company recommends; and (3) how much you are paying per month (last I heard -- which was quite a while ago -- it was about $600/month)? Jbiza
I haven’t had much success with the device for both abortive and preventive, and of course given the cost and difficulty to find refill cards, I’m not sure if it’s worth it. But we’re all different so may work for you. Just sharing my experience. Hoping you get well

Also, while you’re unable to get to your O2 while away from the house, I was able to get a couple of smaller tanks that are basically portable with regulators and masks. I keep them in a bookbag with my Imitrex injections. It’s just a sense a relief for me as I’ve never had to use them yet. Thought I’d share.
