Hi GL, Welcome. While you're trying the licorice tincture you should be exploring other options here that others have found to be helpful. The licorice sounds like it could be a magic bullet. But it isn't going to work for everyone. If it doesn't work for your son, you should be ready to try something else. He should already be on high volume oxygen and energy drinks that contain caffeine/taurine. You can read about them and other helpful remedies in the ClusterBuster Files which you can access via the Forum Jump at the bottom of the page. The Oxygen Page in the Menu at your upper left will tell you all about using oxygen to abort CHs. It's very, very effective. If your son is going to be managed by a doctor, he should be seeing a Headache Specialist. Most GPs, Neurologists and Pain Specialists know virtually nothing about CH. Good luck. Ron

Hi VA, It's good to have you here. Pretty much everyone who's been here for awhile is a lot better off than they were b4 finding this site. Some of the things you'll find mentioned here may seem a little off the wall - some are even illegal - but everything discussed here has been found helpful for some folk's CHs. The advise to read as much as you can and ask questions re: anything you don't understand is standard advise for anyone newly arrived and is very important. We want to help but you need to educate yourself so that we don't need to spend too much time answering basic questions. Most folks here immediately find a way to get on high volume oxygen along with energy drinks containing caffeine/taurine. These need to be available b4 detoxing and attempting to bust. RC seeds are both legal and effective. For many, that's all they need. That's what you need to do first. Learn everything you can about those things first. You don't mention your doctor's speciality. If you intend to use a dr's help in treating yourself, it's important that he be a headache specialist. Most neurologists, GPs and pain specialists don't know squat about CHs. You'll do fine. Thanks, Les. The only Everclear in California is 151 proof (75% alc) rather than the 180 (90% alc) found in most states. Can that be compensated for by using a higher percentage of the CA Everclear than what you mention in your recipe? Ron

This is now the 3rd day of the Grand Licorice Experiment. Michael has now taken 7 standard doses of licorice tincture. No noticeable effect on his HAs so far but the continued feeling of having gotten a sort of tonic "lift" after drinking the potion. I bought 2, 1-oz. bottles of the stuff and will continue the dosing schedule till they're gone. Ron

Hey Dan, I'm with ya, Bud. Most of my life I've been getting hit for being too trusting. I just kinda expect that everybody'll do the right thing. A BIG chunk of the time I'm disappointed. For way too many people it's about the money. F'ing greedy bastards. If I'd of had the brains to be the guy that came up with this BOL shit, I'd have distributed it to everybody just like we do with shrooms. Anybody that wanted to try it (which I bet would be most) would have it - for free. If 75-80% of the world's clusterheads suddenly became PF and as a block publicly demanded continued access to it from the government, I bet we'd get it - cheap. And soon. Sorta like diabetics and insulin. As long as somebody thinks that they can make some money from this shit, that'll be their main concern. As long as it's only a few more years to market (at $400/3 pills?) what the f do they care about the suffering of the people waiting for it. Mike took his 2nd standard dose about an hour ago. No reaction as yet to either one except perhaps getting a slight "lift" from the 1st dose about 1p today. Ron

Hi Helpin, Good on you for being there for your Pop. Maybe you could slow down a bit to be sure you're doing this right the first time, both so you don't waste busting supplies and so that your Dad doesn't go through any more discomfort than necessary. Be sure he's getting his O2 at a high enough level to help. He should be getting at least 25LPM through a non-rebreather mask. If not, fix that 1st, b4 you try to bust. You may find that O2 at that level, along with slamming a couple of Red Bulls as soon as he feels a hit coming on, is enough to get him through the detox. If the shrooms you have are still "leathery," let them air dry on a paper plate for a couple of days till they're "cracker dry." You'll then be able to weigh them more accurately and they'll be easier to get down. You'll also be able, if you like, to grind them into a powder with your coffee grinder, weight out what you decide for him to take and put the powder in gelatin capsules. I'd be more comfortable if your shroom supply wasn't so limited. You won't need any more for a couple of weeks but maybe try to get your hands on some more before then. It isn't necessary for your Dad to "trip" in order to bust. Many people never take more than a gram or so. But you never know. Everyone needs to experiment on themselves to find a dosage level adequate to their own physiology. I'd start with 2.0g. That should be enough. If he hasn't completely detoxed, or for any number of other reasons, he may need to take more the next time. You should have at least 2.0g left. Wait 5-7 days after the 1st try and try again. Document what happens on a time-line. Data is good. It's common for the HAs to worsen for the first few days after a bust so don't be surprised if that happens with your Dad. It's just as common for the HAs to get considerably better or to completely disappear a few hours after dosing. Exciting, huh? Read as much as you can. Hi Les, I bought some licorice tincture tonight at Windmill Farms, the only one of two large "Health-food" stores (the other being GNC) that had it. It varies slightly from yours. Mine sez: Herb strength ratio 1:3, alc 45-55% by volume. Dosage is 30-60 drops, 2-3 times daily. It cost about the same as yours. Whaddaya think? Is that close enough? I figured I'd give him 40 drops, 3 times a day. If his last bust attempt is successful, he should be PF tomorrow; so we'll wait a couple of days so as not to confuse our results with those of the bust. Thanks for this. I'm glad you're here.
