I'm not the expert, have only grown a few batches. It was much closer to the 2 week point before I really saw a lot of growth. It should be white, almost cobwebby in colour and consistency.

Green is bad, that's a bacteria I believe. But white is probably OK, give it more time.

I would store mine in a box in the cupboard. Out of light and not too warm and not too cold.

It seems that this might not be needed since the needle is touching nothing but the sterile foil. Perhaps wipe down the foil with alcohol and let dry before punching it since it could have picked something while cooling.

But, I am not the pro Potter is. I read a lot.  :)

So I buy this potato agar at a healthfood store.  Do I mix it with anything or just put it in the jars?  Do I use normal size baby food jars?  I am guessing this just makes smaller amount than 1/2 pint?

I would suspect that with fewer steps, that would allow contamination, it would be much better. After all, everything is sterile and sealed during the whole process.
