ZSager
Hi folks: Person here with episodic clusters. Moved to Boston about a year and a half ago and my previous oxygen supplier was a lot easier to deal with and get tanks swapped quickly during a cluster burst. Having a bit of a harder time here in Boston finding a reliable oxygen supply company. Anyone have any suggestions in the Boston Area? Closer to the city would be great in case they cant deliver, I can always stop by and pick up some tanks. Thanks!
Dallas Denny
Hi ZS! Not aware of any regulars here from the Boston area but I have several Facebook clusterhead friends that reside in and around that area and we also have a member here who is a neurologist/headache specialist and professor in Boston! Let me give a shout out to those folks and see if they can help! Dallas Denny
Dallas Denny
These are the recommendations so far ZS Enos Home Oxygen in New Bedford Reliable Respiratory....they're in Norwood, MA but deliver over a wide area and they were highly reccomended I haven't heard back from bostonheadachedoc as yet and I'm sure I'll have some more responses to relay to you tomorrow Edited to add: ...if you're on Facebook, search [ Clusterheads; Northeastern U S and Eastern Canada ].....a longtime clusterhead friend is one of the group admins so shoot me a PM with your name so I can tell Lee to be watching for your "join group" request.....they have a couple meet n greets each year....nothing like getting together for some cluster bud love with a bunch of other folks just like you who "get it"!! Likewise, if you haven't secured a good local doc since moving to Boston, I can definitely hook you up with doc Brian (bostonheadachedoc)! ZSager
Thanks Dallas, I'll look up Reliable Respiratory as they arent too far from me. I'm not on facebook otherwise I would take a look at the group. Saw the recommendation elsewhere on this site for Dr. McGeeney, my PCP has been writing my oxygen rx but having a specialist would be a good idea. Thanks again, z
Pablo H
New to this forum and disappointed that the thread is so short. I'm having a heluva time finding an O2 (cylinder) supplier on my insurance plan (Harvard-Pilgram). During my last cycle, I used Cape Medical Supply in Canton. They supplied me with two small tanks, an oxygen concentrator, and a special compressor that filled the tanks from the concentrator. Filling an empty tank took four hours, about a megawatt-hour of electricity, and generated about a million BTUs of heat and 1000 Db of noise, but it worked. The concentrator couldn't provide the needed flow rate directly, but by using it to fill tanks, it kind of worked. I almost never have more than 3 attacks per day, so I was able to keep up. I'm at the start of a new cycle now and looking for someone to provide large TANKS, which would be so much easier, but I'm having the hardest time! Sadly, Reliable Respiratory no longer supplies oxygen for cluster headaches. Several other provides I found do not provide oxygen for adults. I cannot fathom these limitations. A cylinder of O2 is a cylinder of O2! Why would you limit your cliental? To make things worse, typing "medical oxygen tank supplier" into Google gives you mostly hits for NON-TANK suppliers (cpap, O2 concentrators, etc.), so, bleh. As for Doctors, there's a headache neurology practice located at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain where I've gotten excellent care. They really seem to be on top of cluster-headache research. The main guy there even goes to ClusterBuster conferences. They prescribed me Sumatriptan autoinjectors and told me to stock up on them between cycles, since I can get only 6 per month. They've been great -- aborting headaches in 5 minutes or less. Much more toxic than oxygen, but much faster, more portable and, from what I can see, more available, too!
CHfather
SPLIT YOUR TREX INJECTIONS (OR GET VIALS AND SYRINGES)!!! https://clusterbusters.org/forums/topic/2446-extending-imitrex/ Oxygen availability got limited during the pandemic, and it seems to still be that way in a lot of places. You can do what a whole lot of people with CH do and use welding oxygen, which is not restricted. https://clusterbusters.org/forums/topic/5627-notes-about-welding-o2/ Other thoughts, with links, here (D3 regimen is very very good; know your triggers...): https://clusterbusters.org/forums/topic/6213-basic-non-busting-information/

jojo2
Oh my, This thread is so short. Did any one finally get an oxygen supplier around Boston?
jojo2
I finally got Oxygen in 2 places. One was Boston orthopedic Respiratory in Charles town and another was community surgical 180003492990. Community surgical is experienced with supplying cluster headaches sufferers. For 140 Dollars a month they will refill your tank for as many times as you need. The trick is in having your Doctor write the prescription
