kat_92
Hello all, I may have jumped the gun too early. I think what helped my headaches for about 2 weeks was the steroid I was prescribed for my wisdom teeth surgery. They have been worse than ever the last 2 days. I’m very confused and depressed. I can barely swallow my pain is so bad in my ear. I can’t even brush my hair on the left side my scalp is tender to the touch. I’m trying to get an appointment with a new neurologist. Is intense ear pain common? Help kat
81007
Intense ear pain sounds like an infection. You need to see a doctor. I would go to an ER immediately. If left untreated, you could lose hearing in that ear. Quote
spiny
The scalp sensitivity is something I had to deal with one cycle. That was before I got a Neuro. It lasted six months. It made shampooing and brushing my hair an awful experience. Ear pain? Yes, can be the CH too. But with difficulty swallowing, I would have that checked out if possible. Mainly because it hurt to swallow and that is often a sign of an ear infection. It could be CH trigeminal nerve pain or it could be an infection. Best to rule out an infection quickly. But, with the scalp pain too, I would suspect the CH. Just be safe and have it checked out while you wait for your Neuro appointment. BTW - it really sucks that the CH is back now!!! Glare...... kat_92
I was on the O2 last night for like 30+ min and it didn’t even make a dent in the pain. So it has me believing it’s defintely a viral infection. The scalp tenderness sounds like classic CH. I’m working on getting an awesome neuro but it’s taking longer than expected :/ still going strong on the d3 regimen. Any other suggestions? Thank you all Kat
spiny
Can you hit an Urgent Care Center? They could diagnosis the ear ache ASAP. Not sure where you are located, sorry.
81007
A viral infection usually ends up as a bacterial infection. A bacterial infection can result in meningitis. Meningitis can result in death.

Just a small thought about this. As tank pressure levels get lower (as you have used more of the O2 in the tank), there comes a point for many people when O2 loses its effectiveness. Our solution has been to switch to a new tank, but turning up the lpm rate on your regulator, if you're able to do that, can also have a positive effect.
kat_92
Thank you all for the responses. I cleared up the ear pain with some Tylenol and amoxicillin. Turns out I had an infection. My scalp is still tender to the touch on my left side (cluster side). This is a new symptom for me. @CHfatheryes I have heard of this before. The only issue is that I am only allowed one tank at a time (M tank at the moment). I cannot have multiple. I will be working on this after I meet with my new headache specialist Kat
