@BoscoPiko so sorry to hear about that! My corgi, Norman, is my entire life. So I can sympathize with you. It’s no fun when our pets are down and out. Dogs pick up on our emotions so try to stay positive as best you can! I’ll share a picture of my Norman to cheer you up. do you have any strong ginger pills for the shadows?? Glad to hear the seeds have helped4 points

Ergotamine is an old one, and one that would seem like it oughta work since as @BoscoPiko noted, it is derived from "the principal alkaloid produced by the ergot fungus", same as LSD. My personal findings with having tried it many times back in the pre-triptans paleolithic cluster era: It is completely ineffective for cluster aborts, but the inhaler form was terrifically effective for inducing vomiting. I believe others had similar results, hence it having fallen far by the wayside as a medication another CH'er would recommend. Maybe there is some different version of it now? One version was 'cafergot' (pills), also a real dud back then. Yes on Zomig being considered a busting blocker/triptan ( @BoscoPiko for the win again) and I believe the same for ergotamine being a blocker. Super cool, and becoming practically commonplace now!2 points

So I am currently taking vitamin D3 (I thought I had been taking 10,000 IU but just found out it was only 5,000IU...oops) as well as 400mg Magnesium, just started on the Omega 3 fish oil, feverfew, and Riboflavin. I will see if I can get my labs drawn in Neurology on my appointment on the 25th to see where I am at to know how I need to adjust.2 points

It's good to share this sort of stuff I think - you've become such a major, consistent personality in the family here, not to mention a real brightener-upper of the place, so we need to know wha's going on! So sorry that what's going on SUCKS badly, but big, big kudos and admiration to you and the hub for tending to your dear lab like that. Outsized stressors sure have that potential to bring out the worst from the cluster bunny - hate hearing that it slipped an attack in on you, but glad at least it hasn't been able to hit you with any more full on blasts since you shut it down with the RC bust. Best wishes for knocking down those shadows from hell next.2 points

After twenty cluster-free years, at the age of 66, I just started a new cluster cycle. I jumped back into the current research to see what was new. Not much! Progress is slow it seems with our mostly useless lawmakers. I had ended my last 2 cycles with HBWR seeds which after a mild "trip" (nothing like the good ol' days of LSD, peyote and mescaline LOL) and as I mentioned they had not had them come back until now. One of the few new things I noticed was a research paper on Fluticasone (OTC Flonase) done in the Navy. So twice now I have averted headaches by dosing myself in both nostrils and completely stopped the pain and was left without the lingering but tolerable pain that cluster sufferers will know. Obviously it may or may not continue to work and it may not work for you, but Amazon has it for $15 and I aways think anecdotal treatments that cheap should be tried! Hopefully, it will carry me over until my HBWR seeds arrive!1 point

Good afternoon all! I just had my first appointment with my new neurologist and it went super well. He was on board with my oxygen. I told him about my upcoming flight, and he prescribed Xanax for the anxiety, and gave me a sumatriptan injection (3 mg sample). He also prescribed zomig nasal spray, and something called ergotamine? I can’t find anything on this and clusters. Does anyone have any information on this? He also prescribed a steroid pack in case I get hit while I’m on vacation. Does anyone know of zomig and ergotamine and it’s interfering with busting? also, he asked me about mushrooms and was on board with this method of prevention.1 point

LOL Jeeb only you can put a spin on something awful and make if funny....1 point

This sounds like a great pre-vacation set up! Zomig is still in the class of triptans so I believe it may interfere. Not sure about the ergotamine but found this blurb about it online. (Ergotamine is in a class of medications called ergot alkaloids. It works together with caffeine by preventing blood vessels in the head from expanding and causing headaches.)1 point

I am positive there is some connection between migraines and CH, but my own experience is not particularly in favour of psychedelics helping migraines. Until my late 20s I had occasional migraines and no CH, then when CH started I got no migraines ever - so whatever happened to my neurochemistry affected both conditions. The past 2 years or so I have been using RC seeds to treat my episodic CH with probably a 80-90% chance of them aborting a cycle, it rarely fails. However, it is very common since taking RC seeds for me to get one or two migraines after the 3rd dose and this signals an end to the CH cycle. I have started getting occasional migraines in general again after a >15 year remission. Therefore this suggests to me that LSA (or RC seeds specifically, NOT mushrooms) definitely affects the migraine circuit of my brain but , in my case, not in a positive way.1 point

@Alicia Clusterhead I get where you are coming from with the shrooms. Are you taking the rest of the vitamins needed along with the vitamin d? The regimen won’t work if you are only taking the vitamin D. Sorry to hear your hellish nightmare1 point

Thanks @Bejeeber! I'm a little down in the dumps but your response put a smile on my grouchy face!1 point

Making sure your Vit. D level is in the 80-100 range is a start. I had one of those flying to Equador and asked the flight attendant for some ice. Well she brought one big honking bag of ice which did the trick. She seemed to know what she was doing! Also remember that a Red Bull shot also works well (at least for me). Plus coffee.1 point

Uff.. I'll start with apologizing for my weak moment. My older lab Abby Doo has been home and injured for nearly two weeks. My husband and I have been rotating office and home time to ensure she is not left alone as she has a torn tendon in her rt rear leg and can't make it far to potty. My home is covered in potty pads, my husband and I are sleeping on an air mattress down stairs to be with her because using the stairs is out of the question, my sleep schedule is out the window at the moment due to being awoken with the need to go and my stress is through the roof! I had an attack last Friday because the cluster bunny managed to somehow get through my barriers. I dosed with a good deal of seeds and have been ok since but my goodness I am a wreck between the 3 emergency visits to our 24/hr. animal hospital, the run around to get her set for surgery, the worries of her being put under at 11 years of age and the body aches from in-home camping... My shadows are out of control and my moral is lacking. Not sure why i am posting this other than anxt. Anyhow thanks for putting up with me . My animals are my children... Rant over.0 points

Hi Kat and thank you for the beautiful pic of your pup! I use curcumin with ginger but I think the stress is just causing worse shadows than normal.... I'll be fine just a rough few weeks..0 points
