So, the Beast walks into a bar full of clusterheads... They were all having a good time, drinking tea, popping pills and doing 02 up to that point. As the beast walks in, everybody gets silent, trying to ignore him and avoiding eye contact. The beast goes up to the jukebox and plays "King of Pain" by the Police and sits at the bar and orders a triple scotch... The bartender who also suffers serves him, scared shitless. Finally, a guy walks in, who's known to be a chronic and sits right next to the Beast. The Beast looks him up and down and says "Wow, you've got some balls.... but you're pretty fuckin' stupid too!" The guy goes "Let me buy you a beer, and I bet you that I can finish mine before you can drink yours" The Beast goes "You're even stupider than I thought... not only can I drink faster than you, but you have CH and you know that the beer is gonna trigger an attack..." The guy goes "Fair enough... but if I win, you got to promise that you will leave my ass alone for 6 months..." The Beast giggles and says "You've got a deal!!!" The guy counts "3...2...1... DRINK!" They both start drinking as fast as possible, and half way through, the beast stops, turns bright red and spits out his beer all over the counter and runs away crying like a baby. Everyone is in shock and goes up to the guy who's laughing his ass off with the bartender and one guy asks: "How the hell did you do that???" The guy answers "I asked the bartender to pour shroom tea in his beer!" ;D ;D ;D

Happy Birthday Michael!!!

I'm a bit of an anomaly , but... I had a brief 3 to 4 week cycle around puberty, then an extended remission of almost 40 years. At age 50, they came back and after sinus surgery and a MRI, I got to see a headache specialist, Dr. Ken Lazarus.  He promptly diagnosed me as primary chronic CH (i.e. chronic from day one). After a few years of blindly taking this and taking that, with nothing really working, Ken started talking brain surgery, specifically trigeminal rhizotomy. This was a wake-up call for me, and I started to research and advocate for myself. > Within a year, I found Clusterbusters, and as they say...the rest is history. I have been unable to completely shake CH, but went from refractory chronic to episodic sans brain surgery. I also have two brothers diagnosed ECH. One has been in remission for more than 10 years, and I hope he stays that way. But I continue to fight the good fight and explore any and all options, not just busting. But one thing is for sure -- I will never go back to the victim mentality that once characterized me. I have my life back. :) ~alley

I'm not sure which direction Bob wants to take. He said, "web sites and all communications." I'm assuming that means letterhead, etc and not just e-communications. I'm sure he will clarify when he reads this.

I think I still have some of the logos I did up last time around, but you've probably already seen all those. For my money, Ben's your man Bob.

Interesting indeed Rene! Since there is so much talk about the Beast on this thread and I recently had this discussion with someone else, I guess I'll try to relay my thoughts on the subject. Here's the short version: You know how if someone wrongs you and you let it fester in your mind, you are hurting no one but yourself. You are actually giving power to that person by dwelling on it. I feel pretty much the same way about CH. If I give it an identity like the beast, I am actually giving power to it. I try, although it can be hard, to keep the mentality that it is not CH in control of me, but I am in control of CH. And like you les, I refuse to think of CH as the beast. Just my two centavos.

Thanks for the correction and clarification gizmo. I thought they had changed it from two weeks to a month, but couldn't find the right publication to back it up. Sorry for muddying the waters.

This thread is getting interesting.

Looks like an excellent choice to me spiny.

You hit the nail on the head. That is an old FAQ that I didn't realize was still out there. Back in the old days (meaning a few years ago ) on the old private board, there was a lot of experimenting and a lot of comparing notes. Tommy was the one who pored over all of the posts, and assimilated it into a coherent form that could be referred to. And yes, we were a bit over cautious, because we did not have near the data that we do today. Tommy, I think I have most of this right, but please correct me if I'm wrong. bobb

Make it happen mate!!! I'd love to see you again and finally meet Peter face to face! Bob

You're right Rene. Chronic as defined by the IHS: Cluster headaches are considered episodic if they come for 7 days to one year apart with at least a 2-week, pain free break. They are considered chronic if they last longer than one year without a 2-week pain-free break. http://www.bellaireneurology.com/headaches/clus_what_is.html

I second that! DJ is amazing. As a moderator, I understand the urge at times to try and direct the direction the board is taking. But I believe that we have an amazing group, and know that any problems usually sort themselves out. Thanks everyone for your dedication, but mostly thank you for your hearts. bobb

Click on the "Forum Jump" drop-down menu toward the bottom of this page. Choose and click on "Clusterbusters Files". Start reading the stickies; I think you will find the answers to most questions there. Others will be along with more advice. Hang in there.

Hey guys, Just for clarification purposes, I am the one that Odin is referring to. And I did drop the ball. It was due to a number of reasons, but the point is it was my fault. This guy is nothing short of amazing! He saves lives on a daily basis. Those of you who know me, also know that I personally, am not able to help him out, other than point him in the right direction. You guys have done a great job of helping him so far; and I am sure that you will continue to do so. Thank you CHF, tingling, Bonkers and Jeebs for being there for him. You guys rock! bobb
