Questions about lithium infusion

Hi @Dmiller0326,

If you've searched "lithium infusion" on this message board, I imagine it came up as blank for you as it did me.

I'm unfamiliar with lithium infusions, only familiar with the old, fallen by the wayside lithium via pill for CH, which admittedly may not offer as effective results. In surveys of CH'ers the pill form hasn't scored high for effectiveness. Last I checked, many of us have tried it (I have), but you don't often find others recommending it.

What is effective and much more routinely suggested you cry :D?! Well that'd be this stuff that @CHfather kindly links to often:

 https://clusterbusters.org/forums/topic/6213-basic-non-busting-information/

And real live busting, covered at the blue New Users - Please Read Here First banner/link above ^^^.

If it was me, the guy who has apparently become some kind of sudden, evangelistic ketamine pusher :P, I'd be considering ketamine infusions before lithium infusions (but busting is working for me ATM, so I'm fortunate to not have to be considering any infusions).

...hmmm...well...if we are talking intractable CH then ya might hafta go there...but there are newer BETTER options like busting, D3....and as Bejeeber notes, ketamine....which is incredibly promising! all assuming that proper oxygen use with energy drinks  is not an effective breakthrough of these measures abortive...please do read

....you would be wise to proceed cautiously with lithium. in my CH "career" of over 20 meds tried...it is the only one offered i refused outright. some few have indeed found effective, and perhaps infusion beats the old pill form. but, it is a med with scary potential and dialing in the right dose difficult and critical (too little and no effect, just a bit too much, and YIKES!). this dance requires extended/extensive blood work and monitoring which is intrusive on "normal" life ...

Hi and welcome Dmiller! I would suggest that she may need to see a doctor who is more current on medications for CH today.

If Boston is within reach, there is a doctor there, Dr. Brian McGenney who is great! He is a member of our group too. He is not here much, but I would suggest a call to him if that is possible with insurance and all. But he is great for CHers who can see him.

I agree with the previous statements - Lithium is seldom prescribed at all now for CH. Much less an infusion of it.

ATB!! And thanks for looking out for her and joining the group!  We love our supporters!!
