Does clusterbusters ever think abt doing a printable overview of how to tx CHAS in e.r.?

For normal docs?

Does it seem to difficult? I wld think out of all the sites ive been to? This by far the best w medical rpts n research to back things up. It might rly be of help

And yes, i kno.. the CHAS change, what works now may not work later, etc...

But some basics w listed below? Reference articles?

Maybe? Or is ur intention to stay on the mushrooms? If so? I didn't mean to be argumentative.  Sorry

There is a standard reference in a resource called Up-to-Date.  It is an on line resource most hospitals subscribe to for their caregivers.  Individuals can also get a subscription.  I believe a non medical person version is also available.

the offered info is current, collaborative and generally adheres to standard of care.

for cluster headaches oxygen is a first line abortive.

I believe a copy was uploaded some time ago.  I’m not sure if it still lurks.

As Pebbles' says, if you get a correct diagnosis or they take their word for it that you have CH, then you could suggest something like, "Please check with Up-To-Date or Medscape or whatever service you use, which will tell you that subcutaneous sumatriptan or high-flow oxygen with a non-rebreather mask are the best acute treatments." (Of course, if you've been having an attack long enough that it's still going on after you've gone to the ER and waited to be seen, oxygen might not be very helpful.)

Alternatively, you could print out and carry with you a recent article about treatment of CH, such as this one -- https://pn.bmj.com/content/19/6/521 -- or the Word doc you get from googling [goadsby "treatment of cluster headache"].

ER CARD,

While I was on the Board of Directors at O.U.C.H., we developed a Medical Alert Card for Oxygen Therapy for CHers who had to go to the ER with bad CH.  The document is signed by the CHer's neurologist or PCP explaining the bearer suffers from Cluster Headache and needs oxygen therapy as a CH abortive at 15 to 25 liters/minute STAT!

The thinking behind this card was that it would help eliminate most of  the Stump the Dummy questions frequently asked by ER receptionists and get the CHer oxygen as an abortive as fast as possible.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

The quality of this image is not that good.  Unfortunately, this web portal limits attachments fo 23 KB and that's not enough for the original pdf document.

Take care,

O2 card. Yes. Thanx. Short & simple. I also loved the sweet symphony of the devil? Take off on old rolling stones song? Off cluster headaches site? Rather dark and sarcastic, but thats m'style ;)

I think those 2 shld do it. I rly needed short n simple! I think the o2 card is a great start.

U kno... back in 1980s? I used to think... if i cld just angle my gun up alongside the right side of my nose? I cld just shoot the painful area out... i can look back and its obvious what was developing....  *now*  its obvious. Been a lot of pain over a lot of years.... (u can delete this paragrph, if u need to.  French.. LoL. It took french to make the connection! Have a great vaca - holiday season :)
