I've discussed busting with two neurologists. Both were ok with it as long as it was giving me relief. One spoke at a CB conference four years ago in Atlanta on treating CH from a physician's perspective. He came back every day and sat through the full line of speakers, and told me that he couldn't express how impressed he was with what we were doing.

One thing that would skew those stats - I would think that abuse of prescription pain killers would be far more rampant than abuse of cocaine and heroin together.

Anthony and John, If you guys haven't tried ginger for shadows, give it a try. Just stir up a couple of tbs of ginger with tepid (warm enough to dissolve) water, and slam it down. Many have gotten relief with ginger. alley

Not questioning your decision in any way Renee. Just saying as a heterosexual, transitioning to the opposite sex is so alien to me that the thought of doing it would never enter my head unless I knew that it would be the end of my cluster headaches. If I were still suffering like I did at one time, I would most likely consider it.

Sounds like a good ride to me Jeff. Will you be going anywhere near Hiawassee, GA? You running I-85 or I-95 up to DC? -
To be Agitated, or not Agitated, that is the Q..

I think you'll find that 02 works at its best if you hit it at the very first sign of CH. Don't wait to see if it gets bad. I usually hit it when I feel a slight pressure on my left side. I am so attuned to it that I can pick it up almost every time. Then the 02 usually knocks it out within 5 minutes, but everyone is different, and there are times when the oxygen doesn't work at all. Thankfully, those times are few and far between. -
I couldn't agree more Ting! tingeling said: "When you think of every single one you know of that got this condition and seperate them into two groups. One group doing the traditional drugs and the other group doing alternative drugs. Do you find something that make a big difference between those two groups?" It seems to me that the people doing traditional medicine have their life occupied by CH. Everything is about CH. And most still suffer even if they use allot of medicine." "The other group seems to move on, picking up on old or new hobbies etc etc. In general a very positive group of people who won`t let this condition define who they are. And also does not accept sideeffects from medicines that may not work that well anyway. Or don`t want medicines on a daily basis. Or like me, none of the trad meds work." I couldn't have put it any better!

Hi Skip and Welcome! See that little "Menu" tab on the upper left side of this page? Simply mouse over it to open it, and then click on "CH.com Oxygen Page." I think you will find the answer to your questions there, but if you have any others, feel free to fire away.

This is from the Clusterbuster Files under "Playing well together": ENHANCERS Lithium People taking lithium, whether it is for preventing cluster headaches or for some other reason (it is often prescribed for people with bipolar affective disorder - see below for more on bipolar disorder). Anecdotal reports suggest that lithium can greatly potentiate the effects of LSD or mushrooms, and that it can produce very unpleasant feelings. An examination of a number of reports suggested that lithium can either increase or decrease effects. The combination of lithium and tryptamines may even produce episodes that seem like, and that perhaps are, epileptic seizures. If people are taking lithium for treating cluster headaches and it is not working, they may want to talk with their doctor about not taking it any more before trying mushrooms or LSD. If people are taking lithium for bipolar affective disorder, they probably should continue taking lithium, and they should avoid taking tryptamines for cluster headaches. Please take heed!

Advocate, advocate, advocate! Read, read, read, and take your health into your own hands, instead of blindly trusting doctors to solve your CH. I think you will find it the most liberating thing you can do.

Thanks Kaboom, but it is you and Bob that we all should be thanking for all of your dedication and hard work. I'm sorry I was unable to attend, but will try to be there at the next one. This seems to be one of the most promising avenues we've explored so far.

I agree. But don't hire one of the national lawyers (as advertised on TV). Instead find a good local attorney who specializes in disability cases. If you are like most and get turned down twice, you will appeal and go before an ALJ. That's where a local attorney is handy since most ALJs are local and they are used to dealing with each other. Just the system.

Good find mate! I would love to hear some thoughts on Andrew's presentation.

No problem Brad, I completely understand as does, I'm sure, Agent Orange - our poster child for medical negligence. I am not nearly as qualified as you to talk about FSH, estrogen or LH levels. All I can tell you is that my neuro showed me this article and prescribed clomiphene citrate to me. It took me six months and talking to several different people including another neuro, to finally make up my mind to fill the script. That has been over three years ago. Clomiphene citrate has not stopped my headaches, but it has made me go from chronic to episodic, with a reduction in frequency and intensity of CH. I am not recommending this drug to anyone. There are just too many unknowns. I do get my T-levels checked semi-annually along with a PSA. So far, so good. But this is uncharted territory, and I have no doubts but that I am a guinea pig. I hope this helps.
