Pulling for your success Sergical!!!! Sometimes, it takes longer to ditch the beast. > Maybe 5 times vs 3. Especially if you are well into a cycle. Are you lying down to sleep? A recliner works better than going fully prone. Tilt it back part way so that you are rather comfy and sack out. It can make a huge difference. Naps are a huge no-no for most. You will wake with a CH. Sucks when you are already exhausted. Hit it again and send it packing!!!!!!

I learned how to prepare ahead a few years ago. Homemade jelly with a bow on the jar. That takes care of any surprises that show up and saves a lot of energy since the jelly was made last summer. Also, anyone over 18, I put their gifts all in one box to wrap. Less mess and it is fun to watch as each item is found in the box. It eliminates the trying to match the number of gifts given to each person, which is hard and expensive to do. With only one child to wrap for now, I can get it all done very quickly. Then there is the wonderful e-card company if you aren't up to writing and mailing them. I get one every year and love them!!!! Thanks again alley.Â

Sergical81, CHF should be along soon with all his great links to provide the information for you. It is really quite simple. I just don't want to quote the stuff and get something wrong. Just a few vitamins to take everyday.

Thank you for the information John. And for the suggestion!

Good articles alley! The best thing that I did for myself was to have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. Started that when the kids got to middle school. A lovely Christmas dinner the night before and leftovers for Christmas. Allowed me to enjoy Christmas along with the rest of the family!!! Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays to all!

Cortical plasticity in episodic and chronic cluste
spiny replied to cluster's topic in Research & Scientific News
Excerpt from Wicki: Paul Tholey, an oneirologist and Gestalt theorist laid the epistemological basis for the research of lucid dreams. His work laid the foreground for further researchers to categorize what a lucid dream is. Tholey (1980, 1981) defined seven different conditions of clarity that a dream must fulfill in order to be defined as a lucid dream:[26][27]   Awareness of the dream state (orientation);   Awareness of the capacity to make decisions;   Awareness of memory functions;   Awareness of identity;   Awareness of the dream environment;   Awareness of the meaning of the dream;   Awareness of concentration and focus (the subjective clarity of that state). For a dream to be lucid as defined by Tholey, it must fulfill all 7 factors together. Tholey replaces the word ‘Klarheit’ (clarity) with the word ‘awareness’, which is a well known and central term in Gestalt therapy theory and describes the subjective experience of the conscious dream state quite well (Lucid dreaming – dreams of clarity).[28] There is a lot more info there, but this seemed a good piece to post. It even covers your wakefulness thing. With this definition, I have had something similar to 'Lucid Dreams'. As in I knew that it was a dream and woke myself up or changed the direction of the dream. But, it has been years since I had one. I was told, by a specialist (well, educated person) in dreams, that the repetitive dream I was having meant that I had severe issues with my life at the time. True about that one!!! Otherwise, I don't remember dreams anymore as a rule. Although I will have whacked out dreams that are quite circular and only occur when I have overslept. I can tell myself that it is a dream and that I need to wake up. It works. Weird...... Since I seldom oversleep anymore, I don't get those either as a rule. -
CHF, I just logged in and one 'guest' left. 8-) So, between 6 or 8 of us, we add up to quite a few. Watch when you open a file. Say there was one guest. When you open the General category, the number of viewers changes looking at that file changes. I don't know if it counts as a guest for each file or not, but I think so. As you change the file you have open the viewers number will change for each file - the one you left and the one you opened. Now, whether the ip is what the system uses for a guest is above my level. If you want, I could find out. But, I think that we have solved some of this query already.

Well, today I have counted as a visitor 8 times.
-
Moxie that is a good question. I think it means in Technicolor but since I don't get them, it is a guess. ;D It seems that it might also mean you remember it vividly? In detail.

Checking again Toni! update: Can't open your user ID to get to your info. Perhaps the people who contacted you are members here? That is common for people to belong to Clusterheadaches.com and Ouch along with CB. Have you tried accessing info without logging in yet?
-
No Toni, they cannot access member information to my knowledge. Open CB and don't log in. You can't access that kind of stuff unless you are a member and logged in. Now, I have to go back and play while logged out to verify everything!!!!! New at this stuff. :-[ Edit: Nope, ya can't get there! Must be logged in and a member. At least, I can't.

Cortical plasticity in episodic and chronic cluste

That is very interesting dm!!! Knowledge is power, right? For me, it would be nice to have a good dream and remember it. I must dream when out of cycle, but I don't ever remember them. Every few years I will have a nightmare that I remember vividly and totally. It will wake me up. But, that is as far as it goes. -
Thanks Toni!! I too have had many concussions in my distant past. Well, I did have another one in late October when the dog ran into my head with his!!! ;D Otherwise, it had been over twenty years since the last one. I will update soon!

Can you try to achieve the Lucid Dream State dm? Many 'brilliant' people were able to put themselves into an extremely focused state in various ways. Einsteins' brain is different too! Perhaps from his meditative state. The brain of a much younger man when he died. Edgar Cayce was an amazing person. And yes, he died from being overtaxed helping others. His wife tried to shield and protect him from so many readings, but he would have none of it. -
Many do Sergical81. Or a Valium. Apparently they can reduce the physical effects without ruining the bust. Good luck!!!!! spiny

Fabac - You are out of sync here!!! Righty head and Lefty hand???? ;D Lets continue and see how this plays out? I would like to. So far, it seems that those who are episodic with vivid dreams have an advantage the rest of episodics don't. Also, that chronics have vivid dreams in more than 50% of the reports.        Â

Yup Racer, Not really someone who wants or needs info. A machine. diamondmaker, The number of times that I would get on, many times each day would have added a lot to the daily count. And that was just me.

Excellent article weatherman! It makes you want to learn more about that pine cone. Now, if you head is triggered by REM and wakes you up, you don't get any. That makes you 'different' from your normal self. Personally in cycle I do not have time to enter REM as the first hit comes within 15 minutes of sleep. All night. Which, for me at least, separates REM from CH. It cannot be an activator or contributor. But lack of REM sure is affecting me then. Not that this is about the article. It is just about sleep and me. Interesting that many responders are lefties!! I always thought that they were in a minority (big minority) on the site. We know that being a lefty forced to righty can cause stuttering due to the structure of the brain. I wonder in what other ways does it show the strain of coping? Heads?

They have been Jeebs. But, if ya see the black cat (my dear departed Charlie), just stay home!!!!!!!! He was there again on the fourth one and I woke up intentionally. Decided it was a sign to stay home. However, if the bluebirds pick you up on the sheet you are lying on and head out the door with ya it will be beautiful! [smiley=engel017.gif]

alley, Only Potato vodka - not that grain wannabe, right? Chopins is really good, but don't taint it with tonic! ;D weatherman, I will read that one. Thanks. I do not dream now unless I fall asleep during the day. Then it is not a dream but an OBE. I have had three. The last one scared the snot out of me. The ending was me rising up and the whole scene receding into nothingness. I was hoarse for the rest of the day because the event required hollering for help. The other two were pleasant.

CHF I will check on that for you. Yes, we do get a lot of lurkers. But I think that if they have CH and are looking for help they join up and talk to us. I lurked for months before joining. I also feel that the closed section is warranted for members security and peace of mind. Thanks for the compliment too!! 8-)

CHF I started out as a low level chronic. Stayed there for several years. Had a great remission. Then, I got a much more painful picture of what had happened to my head. So far, episodic. My cycle went up to eight months of the year. Summers off were great though!

Yes, hot brass burns like hades!!!!! They do have deflectors now for lefties. Watched a lefty use one of my pups and the brass went right down his overalls. He did a little dance with the devil for a moment. Weak hand with a handgun is easy, but not with a rifle. Rifle is a brain strain. I bet that I would get a hit just straining to do it correctly!!!!!!! That is a bit crazy don't ya think? That is totally disgusting about the Lariam. > They popped our GI's with tons, well exaggerating a bit, of untested garbage in the last 10-20 years. Think on this - I used to take quinine for restless leg syndrome. Now they refuse to prescribe it. They have new expensive meds for that after all. So, I drink tonic water now. Works great. But, why take something old and proven away? Money. Did they think I would not find it at the grocery? Guess not. Morons. How soon after your head injury did your CH start?
-
Small question here. Based on another thread, some of us have 'vivid dreams' as an advance warning system. Others do not. My question is: Do you have this precursor of vivid dreams before a cycle? And: Are you a left or right CHer? I am a leftie. I do not have these dreams. While I do not think the being a left handed person or a right handed person matters, it could be interesting to gather the info on that too. Yes, it has been done before. I know. Personally, I was left handed and had it forced on me to be right handed as a young (3-4 years old) child. And, in the interest of full disclosure, I first started having CH exactly three months after a concussion from a blow to the side of my head. I was quite surprised to be told that the delay is very common and rather standard.

Cortical plasticity in episodic and chronic cluste

Interesting approach drew. Lately, I have seen two reports of vivid dreams being a signal of an approaching cycle. Now, you report a similar phenomena! Perhaps that is part of the pic. It is sort of like MS. In that people get the same symptoms often, but different symptoms can apply too. It all depends on where the brain lesions are apparently. Patients get plateaus where there is no advance, then periods of degeneration start again. But the progression or lack thereof in CH is very different. Well, maybe not so much. For both you get worsening periods and periods of improvement. The brain is so freaking complex it is amazing that we understand any or it! I do like dm's idea Most of us have experienced this problem. Now, I wonder if MM or similar would work to help MS patients too???????????
