  1. Jeff's statement bears repeating. I am too old to take part in the upcoming trials. I tried. Will they let you do the D3 regimen? That has helped reduce the severity of my hits. Just a thought. Thank you Shahooty!!
  2. That sounds about normal for a first dose. Or even a second. That is why the process normally takes 3-4 doses 5 days apart. Your PF period should get longer after a each dose, but most would not push it until they have taken three doses. Yes, you should ditch the Topamax. The info about which meds to drop is located on the board 'Clusterbuster Files' with the thread 'Playing Well Together'.
  3. Slim, From my reading it is not an issue. And it is out of your system super quick.
  4. Naps are a big no-no for many of us. They will bring on a hit.
  5. He is young and invulnerable. Just the way things are. I have found that the D3 reduces the level of pain for most of my hits. Does not prevent, but does help me. But, at his age, I doubt that I would have been willing to take a handful of pills everyday unless I was incapacitated! It is really hard as a parent I am sure. When he is ready, he will appreciate all your hard work on his behalf.
  6. In the US, insulin syringes are sold in bulk. They are very cheap. I have bought them to treat our barn cats because you need a tiny syringe to give a shot to a sick kitten. Don't know the situation where you are with regards to purchasing over the counter. Hope that someone with personal knowledge will chime in for you HazBaz.
  7. Would insulin needles work? They are tiny.
  8. didgens, Many of us notice an increase in hits year over year. It just seems to get worse over time for many. I am one who lost teeth due to this: It must be THAT tooth. Nope. In addition, I have had sinus surgery hoping for help in past years. It was no help. CH just went on its' merry little way, no matter that they drilled and straightened and so on. Is he doing the D3? Has he added the benadryl like Batch suggested? Perhaps try that. I hope he gets relief soon.
  9. Yes. My best solution so far is to lightly rub the offending branch gently back toward the source. You do get in trouble if you have three branches wound up at once!! Doc tried to put me back on 300Mg of Lyrica per day. No thank you. I just consider it part of the package I was gifted with. ;D
  10. This list has reminded me of many things that I have tried and forgotten about over the years!
  11. Does this mean that the drought is finally over or did it all run down to Houston? They are flooded now too!!! Hope you got thru it ok and your house stayed dry and safe.
  12. Jeez, I forgot Pred and O2!!!!! ;D
  13. Carbamazepine Elavil Lithium Prozac Lyrica D3 Screaming hot bath with cold pack on head GABA
  14. Welcome Kari, Those are some powerful photos. I love the triple exposure!! Good luck on your project. Raising awareness is truly needed.
  15. Those are cool CHF!!! Also, well said and appropriate.
  16. You can down some electrolytes to avoid depleting your body. Also, downing some caffeine at the first sign of an attack can stop the hit. Many use energy drinks and some use coffee. The taurine in energy drinks is felt to add to the effectiveness of caffeine. But, if you can't stomach them, coffee works great. Anything that helps you avoid the codeine. Likely it is the caffeine in your med that is helping the most, not the codeine.
  17. Welcome Cluster. It sounds like you have really tried a lot of 'natural' treatments over the years!! O2 will be your best friend when you get it. My understanding is that OUCH-UK can be a huge help getting you O2 in the UK. Also, when you get it, there is a wonderful page on O2 use located in the menu bar on the left of this page. I know that a lot of people on the Clusterheadache site have tried the water like you are doing now. Some with great success too!! I am really glad that it is helping you now. Many here have searched all over the Net for help, so we understand the read, read, read approach. What is cocodomal? I am not familiar with that med. ATB spiny
  18. Welcome JB! Those who really understand are those who have CH. Most doctors have very little knowledge of CH. Even Neuro's. A headache specialist is your best bet for traditional care. Many of us have run the gamut of 'possibly' this will help meds. Many have paid a high price for that too. We try to keep busting info on the Share your Busting Stories Board. It is available for members only, not lurkers. It is great place to read and learn. So are The Clusterbuster Files. Also, a closed board. Thank you for a great first post. History is a good start here. I think that a MRI is about the best thing a doctor can do for you. It rules out other bad stuff to make sure that you are dealing with CH, not something worse. Otherwise, there are currently no meds for CHer's. Hand me down Migraine meds are the norm. A firm diagnosis is a good idea so that you know what you actually have. Muscle relaxers can help with the neck pain. It can get pretty severe at times. Opiates will not help CH. Go to the menu bar on the left and open the O2 page and read that. O2 will be your best friend. Caffeine or an Energy drink at the start of a hit can abort one too. Most of us tend to find that O2 becomes our very best friend!! Some members have found that Cialis or Viagra will bring on a hit. So, that might be a thought for you. There is a pinned post at the top of the Share You Busting Stories Board regarding that issue. How long do your hits last? Do you have any other symptoms when you get a hit? Read and ask away. ATB spinyÂ
  19. Welcome bobby!! Many take melatonin at night to help with nighttime attacks. And most use caffeine or an Energy drink combined with O2 to abort attacks at any time. How often can you take your triptans? Usually its' use is limited to twice per 24 hours. spiny
  20. Hi Tony!!! Great to see you posting. It has been a while. Hope that you are well. 8-)
  21. Amphs, There are some who get their main pain in their temple. Me being one. Head in a tightening vice with a railroad spike being pressed into my head. Then the explosion and rapid ramp-up that goes wild. Yes, they do get to to eye stabbing stage as well, but they did not start out that way. I also get jaw or upper teeth pain as a warning shadow. It can last a few minutes to all day. My temple feels like it is bursting or swelling first. At that first sign, I down caffeine, cold and fast. If that does not stop it, it is O2 time and quickly. Rotating shifts are very hard on all of your body and misery for CH. But, jobs are hard to find!!! Mine come in waves: Hit, O2, PF. If I lie down, it starts all over in 15 minutes. Untreated, they last exactly 2.25 hours and I can expect 4 every night. Treated with caffeine and O2 I can grab about an hour in the recliner before the next hit. I sleep partially reclined in a recliner to get any rest. It helps a lot not to lie down fully. You do need a good diagnosis. But, I do not find your symptoms that out of the ordinary. If your sleep schedule were more normal, I think you might find a better pattern to your hits. But with your rotating schedule, your internal clock is constantly challenged. I hope your Nuero gets a scan ordered to rule out other bad stuff and you get to try Indo. ATB
  22. didgens, I have too many allergies to bother listing. Almost all are respiratory. My cycle starts with the Fall Equinox and ends some where after the Spring Equinox. So, if they are allergy related, it would be the mold, mildew, and house dust aspect effecting me, not the pollen of spring and summer. So no, the Polar Vortecies are not a part of my head's equation. Falling barometric is a major part of my CH. Falling pressure is my enemy. Since so many weather fronts move thru in the winter, I pay a lot for each one. I will add that I live in an area with NO allergy free months!!! I moved here from La., which has one allergy free month only to find that it would be worse here!
  23. Soooo good to hear from you Fab!!!!! We have been very worried. Follow doctors orders and get healthy again real soon. We miss you terribly!
  24. So do I. Hopefully he is seeing it. I was not around then, but I am extremely thankful for Mark's work in aiding all with this condition. Kindest wishes for his family and their loss.
