    Good News:

Hi ToniEvo!! That is great about the O2! 100%, not a concentrator I hope. But, I am sure that you will not let them do that to you. Did you start your diary with the headache he gave you? ;D spiny
  2. The best I hope for is raising awareness. They mostly miss something. But, I missed the CB blimp!!!!! : Fabac: 'Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy...and good with ketchup.' I have that bumper sticker on my fridge!!! ;D
  3. It is a good video that I have seen before. The statement about the pupil is odd. It may dilate during an attack. I never looked. My understanding is that miosis can, probably always, appear along with the droop (ptosis). That is a contraction of the pupil, not dilation. But the cumulative effect is constriction to the point that it won't dilate, even in the dark. Horners Syndrome. Funny how they always shine a bright light into your eye and move it away and back again in a bright room. The test needs to be done with lower light because that shows the lack of dilation. Two years ago, I purposely turned away to face the darkest side of the room after I asked the Neuro to turn off the light and then asked him to repeat the test. The difference was obvious then. My Ch pupil is permanently constricted to a small degree, even not having a full blown cycle for quite a while now. But, the video is well done news reporting. All the help we can get, right?
  4. You know, it is rather cool that we have several new Lady members. Fewer of us are willing to listen to some diploma claim migraine because we are female. 8-) I think that we are standing up, stomping up, raising hell, to get a proper diagnoses. We are learning and using that knowledge to get proper treatment. I call that success. Not that I wish it one anyone. I am just glad that doc's are no longer able to get away with 'You have migraines. Take this pill and go away.' I had to drag my hubby to my second appt with the neuro to get the man to listen to me at all!!! Times, They are a Changing.
  5. I have a lot of cheese and crackers to go with that!  Oooooh. I have one of those. Came with child number 1! Ever bore holes thru their back with it to force them to turn around? Nope? Me neither. : Right........ Missed you!!!
  6. Me too alley. CHF: The smaller study is the one I remember. Seems like it is more balanced, the more they look. Sort of like the percentage of male to female has really changed! It all appears to be getting closer to 50-50. Where it has likely been all along, but females too often got/get shoved into the migraine group. I still have a multiple diagnoses: Ch and Trigeminal Neuralgia. Not sure why he maintains that I have both, except perhaps the excessive nerve pain with the Ch.
  7. corpus callosum Yep, that is it. Thank you CHF. I find these studies fascinating. I wonder if left sided Cher's are different from right sided Cher's? Like, if you are right sided, are your lingering effects different from a leftie? Lots of questions there for me. Are you more prone to PTSD depending on side? Are your warnings different based on side? Each side has different functions so you would suspect the damage would be different based on side. :-? The symptoms appear to be the same. Just one of those things. It appears, from reading this board that most are rightie's. Why???????
  8. At the time of the article, which was about a year after the surgery, I not think so. At this point, who knows. I find it odd that they have also cut the bundle of fibers that connect the left and right hemispheres for epilepsy and had some success too. After that, how do the two communicate?
  9. Oh, as for neural plasticity. There was a case several years ago regarding a young girl with epilepsy. It was so severe that they eventually removed about half her brain. In pretty short order, that remaining half took over all functions of the removed. She talked, walked, learned, everything. Pretty amazing. But, at the time, they also said that only a young person could fully recover from such a surgery. Maybe that is not quite true.Â
  10. I agree DM. It could be something as simple as nerve placement being slightly off and our brain dealing with it. Sort of like you go to the dentist and he numbs the normal area for a certain nerve only to find that it did not work. So, he has to go back and hit a few more spots since not all people have nerves placed in the same vicinity. I just deleted my post before I saw your response. Sorry. It really bugs me that some do and more may approach it from the psych angle. > How is that? Better, I hope, than my original post.
  11. Happy Thanksgiving!!! We have sooooo much to be thankful for.
  12. My understanding is that repeated motions (rocking) are predictable and controllable and therefore soothing against the outside world that we do not always understand and do not control. Especially as small children. My way of dealing with those issues as a child was to read. In a rocking chair. Granted, not a very small child. But, when my childhood did a big about face, that is what I used to solve the mystery of my new life. Or just escape it actually.

  14. tangerinearmy, My heart goes out to you. No matter how long ago this happened, the pain/loss is still there. Please tell me that you have had scans done??????
  15. Hey didgens, Don't you wonder if some people don't have a big enough D drop till spring? My first vitamin check put me about 30. In August. After gardening all summer in the sun. Yes, I do go without sun screen for at least 30 minutes in the sun when I am out. Anyway, perhaps some people still have enough D to get them thru most of the winter and early spring?
  16. Hi Phreon, Those horrible knots are not uncommon. I never found anyone or anyway to untie them when in cycle. Your injury may add to them? My neuro prescribed diazepam to help ease the neck pain. Once that knot appeared, it did not disappear until the cycle was over. Properly used O2 is a life saver!!!!! Check it out. Also, if you regularly get hit at night your could try sleeping in a recliner. That helps a lot. All the best!

Hi Rudy! I strongly second the recliner and Melatonin. MSG, tar, paint, paint thinner, a lot of smelly stuff for some. MSG is notoriously bad for some Cher's. Regarding the caffeine: I bought a bag of caffeine powder that I put into caps so that I would always have it with me. I like that security. Even though it contains no Taurine, it works for me!!!Â
  19. didgens, If I could find and afford to move to some place that lacks quick, big down shifts in pressure, I would move in a heartbeat! Moving to the mountains has been bad for my CH, but so has getting old! I have had them for over 40 years. Somewhere I read that female Cher's start to have it much rougher after 50 than earlier in their life. Mine have panned out that way for sure. I keep hoping for that age where they just go away because of age. It would be nice to have a positive pressure house! ;D
  20. Hahaha. I started out in Louisiana as a low level chronic. Daily, but mild. Moved to Florida and 5 years later, they were gone. Moved back to Louisiana with no re-emergence. About ten years pf total. Moved to N.C. Still pf for several years. Then, they started in earnest. Initially about one week per year with severe Trigeminal Neuralgia to boot. Then, they escalated to the point that I started on Carpazamine. Moved to the mountains. They kicked in the first fall. My first two sips of a beer resulted in shocking pain. After a few years, they were 6-8 months per year rather than 2-3 months. Yep, baro severely affects me.
  21. lol. Read my response, posted before the one here!!!!
  22. Hi HazBaz, How did last night go for you? Hope that your today is better than your yesterday!!!!!! spiny
  23. Energy drinks or caffeine should help. Sounds like you have a shadow that intends to hang around for a while. They suck. Don't bend over! Seems to make them worse. Sorry this reply came so late and you are already at work!!!
