Thanks Shaun! We sure hope she gets better sooner than later..

I started with an air mattress but Bosco decided to sharpen his nails on it Abby has gotten supper crowdy since being hurt so if we are on it, she wants on it and would try and jump which is a no no after this recent surgery. They say the recovery period is around 8-weeks.. They did detect cushing's disease in her blood work which is most likely the cause of the tendon giving way. We had to do a imprint cast of her leg and send it in for an orthotic boot that she will need to wear for up to a year.. Here is what it looks like:

Hey @spiny, yes the harness is a huge help! You know it! That girl wont budge and sleeps sideways Oh how I wish it was a real bed... We are currently sleeping in the dining room on a bunch of mattress toppers Our house was built in the 80's when it was cool to have a drop down into the living room which is a no-go at the moment for Abby. I feel like I just spent the night camping in a poorly scouted spot atop a bunch of rocks!

Thanks you guys!

Well we made it through! Abby Girl went in yesterday for surgery and we got to pick her up around 10ish today. Some good news is that they did not need to place a screw into the bone to hold the mesh in-place meaning she will not have to go under again in 6 weeks to have it removed. Tough times for sure but Miss Abby Doo is home! I know this may sound like small potatoes to some but Abby is 11 years young and these types of surgeries are complicated at that age. Like @Bejeebersaid "modern surgical advances" have proven to make me a happy momma. Yea I wont sleep well for a few months as we now live in the dining room but we will make due. The point of this surgery was not to extend her life but to make the BEST of the end. I chose at a young age to not have little ones but never could escape being a fur baby momma.

Thanks Jeeb. You all are the best.

Well I have to say that all of you lift my spirts! I love the light hearted banter and mild jabs at one another. You all make my day each and every time I'm on here. I was speaking to my husband the other night and said to him that if all of social media worked like this site we would be golden. My pup goes in tomorrow morning for surgery and I am sick with worry. It's so nice to know that I have all of you! Of course my shadows chose to kick in big time today when I had to play hostess but .God willing I made it through. You all are the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I appreciate you all very very much!

Well at least I know it's not just my phone
-
LOL @Shaun brearley it's real I swear! Just like all my auto correct typos
-
Well I suppose it's a small problem to have in the scheme of things
-
Seriously! It acts ok if not quoting but otherwise a serious irritation!

Just wondering if I am the only one experiencing problems when trying to respond to a thread with my phone? When I try and respond, it lets me type a few words and then highlights the thread I am responding to and if I try and move forward it deletes the continent I am responding to? If I try and get past this issue it creates a huge blank space below my response as if I have hit the space bar a bunch of times? Is this just an isolated issue with my phone? Or is anyone else experiencing this?

Naw. Everyone on here is a SOMBODY. Tell all us what you do to mitigate your CH and what has been offered you to do as such. You may find yourself kindly surprised at all this community has to offer.
-
Nothing wrong with doing as such and in fact it can be therapeutically beneficial. Seriously, it's high time for a cluster head to develop something usable by us thunder bunnies! Keep on keeping on!

I so understand how this could be a favorite as I have a hard time believing that there is a Cluster Head out there that hasn't had this awful thought plague there mind. Sometimes it's hard (especially in the beginning) to imagine living forever this way. As for tracking meds and attacks, I initially used my outlook email calendar. I still shake my head when looking back and seeing my loggings of migraine. I no longer track the attacks as they have continued to morph, making tracking somewhat silly. There is something to be said about a diligent documenter and has proven helpful for some in the past. I now focus on things like supplement packaging, dosing levels and odd happenstances like warning signs as well as the last time I ingested something outside of pharma. Excel is a great tool as you can easily auto sum or create neat formulas like (cell such and such equals this or that). Now days I try and pre-package everything from morning intake, evening intake and for fuc8ks sake intake. It just makes my life a bit easier being able to grab a baggie although I do get the odd looks at Michael's craft store when buying out the small sized drug looking baggies...

No money Kat. Awful but as simple as that..

Hi @Alicia Clusterhead, I saw this post a bit ago and wanted to respond but I was on a tight schedule. First and foremost I couldn't agree more with @Bejeeber with regard to a second opinion from a headache specialist (headache specialist clinic). I was told.. when all this kill joy happened, that I was going to be allowed to see a headache specialist that turned out to be nothing more than a practicing nurse under a neuro. (Not down playing the wonderful nurses in our healthcare system) however the information I received was entirely migraine oriented (find a dark room, get a cold cloth, try to sleep (um can't happen during a hit) blah blah). My initial diagnosis was also migraine and I used to even log them as such on my calendar. I suppose I got lucky after tossing Doctor after Doctor out and being allowed to see a neuro that had a small clue. One thing I will never forget is the fact that he had seen my chart and told me as much but then asked me to tell him in my words what was going on and what I felt like when receiving a hit. I was almost stunned into silence but then everything came out like a flood. His response was " I can see (video appointment) that you are terrified to experience this again and I have no doubt this is CH. I felt relived that finally someone knew this was not migraine but at the same time devastated that I was afflicted with something so awful. I was lucky to get diagnosed after a year and change. Many wait years and years. Don't stop being an advocate for your self. I am a bit stunned that this gal, after your description still wanted to chalk all to migraine. My only question is the 12 to 24hrs. that you mentioned and somewhat makes me think it maybe this could be another awful form of head attack? Either way I sure hope you continue to PUSH. We know us best and I'm so sorry for your pain.

You know... You @CHfather have helped so many (my self included) on here, I think you get a full pass with PJ wearing, a bit of weight gaining and aging to boot as well! I couldn't re-pay you for all the words I have had the chance to noodle on. Good Man indeed you are. Thanks for being you!

Ok Jeeb.. This bit reminded me of pulling a shaunjeeber! This too has happened to me bud. After all was said and done I strangely got kudos for sealing a deal that I remembered noda about. Was later told that I spoke to the trades involved in the project along with current economic escalation impact.. Maybe God has a soft spot for us.. I sure like to believe as much.

Got to love a straight shooter I completely agree with @jon019 on this one. This bit just makes me wonder about the influence being interjected on this individual. Seems that it could be a Dr. that disagrees with alternative medicine or even a family member that is unsettled by the thought of medicating with alternative (non-pharma) meds. Either way, my personal experience with triptans was awful. Sure, I got a good 20 to 30 minutes or so of reprieve from the use of the nasal sumatriptan and sometimes with maxalt as well. In the end what sealed the deal with me on triptans was a slowly ramping up cycle where I had believed my neuro that said I absolutely must take the medication at the slightest hint of an attack (I believe this to be true for migraine not so much CH). About a year ago, I did just that and experienced the looongest, worst hit filled cycle of my entire CH career! I hadn't understood the way my CH worked at the time and thought even one spike meant the end of the world as I knew it. Turns out that sometimes I get random spikes then nothing for months after. Since ditching the triptans (knock on wood) I have never experienced anything of that sort again. Do I still keep a few nasal sprays in my purse.. Yep I sure do because if I'm in a critical client meeting where I could stand to loos a project for the company I could use 30 minutes to buy me a close and am willing to suffer to keep the ball rolling at the firm. Anyhow I felt compelled to respond to this as my experience with triptans was so bad that I have road out many a hit without them for the simple fact that I knew in the end I would be better off for it.

These types of reports scare me. I wonder what your dosage was prior to increasing to 480 and what type of verapamil (ER or RR)? I am assuming you were on a lower dose prior with the "increased" wording in your message. Anyhow, I am happy you are finding relief at 480 which is where I am at. So glad you also got O2 as it really can be a game changer for so many. I struggle with the O2 and get "hit and miss" results but any score is better than none and most of my unsuccessful aborts happen when I was unable to get to the O2 quick enough. Since you got your 02 today, keep in mind that you will be in need of a non re-breather mask along with a regulator that allows at a minimum of 15-25 LPM flow rate which can be easily purchased online. This made me laugh. Sorry I tend to appreciate humor of this sort. I may be demented in that way but blame God.. He made me this way.. Jelly over this comment but do need to preach the D3 regimen which has kept me doing quite well for some time now. You can read about it on here by using the search bar. Wishing you the best!!

I don't think the walking has any real effect on CH as far as prevention with the exception of a short term abort/reprieve. On some of my super long 3-4hr. attacks I will take a swift walk to get a little "banger break" but they always come back as soon as I sit down and relax for more than a minute or so. Consistent sleep is a biggie for me, interrupted schedule always has me shadowing super bad the morning after. Anyhow.. two cents for what it's worth.

A Bit Stressed-Not CH Related Entirely-(Sorry need to Rant)
BoscoPiko replied to BoscoPiko's topic in General Board
First I need to say....Thanks to all my cluster head buddies for responding to my rant. Today was so stressful in that I had worked so hard to ensure a one and done visit but that didn't happen. I had contacted the surgery center one day after the appointment for todays surgery that had been set and asked about the fact that she was 8 days into the antibiotics for a UTI and had expressed that I wanted to know if it could in any way effect her ability for surgery. Was told no and to just get her in. I did bring her in at 10 am today only to receive the information that she needed to be tested for any infection prior to being released/approved for surgery so I was bummed as I specifically tried to avoid this hurdle. She is now home with a cast and shaved hind leg, urinalysis that is being processed and a completed ultrasound that shows a severed tendon that will need a wire mesh implant to be fixed. I suppose this is no biggie if your not an animal momma. We fasted her since 8pm last night and fully expected a surgery to fix her up today so to say the least we are bummed/disappointed in ourselves for not doing better for her. I fully understand that with this post not being CH related It may not warrant much response and that's ok as this is just me unwinding and needing to vent. -
LOL I have to admit that this bit made me laugh. I am a lover of all things cheese as well. I think the nixing of dairy is legit to a degree, but I have been on the D reg for quite some time with wonderful results and I have not cut the cheese (pun intended)
