Bonkers
Don't be sad, Oscar. We're going to go see the world's foremost cluster headache specialist. Plus, I'll bet we're all going to get BOL or or something very similar to it a lot sooner than you think. Mike's okay. Thanks for the sentiment, though. We're going to be fine. Dallas Denny
Appears to me that the jeebs just raised the bar on the CH medal of honor 'bonker' award!!! Very well done Matt!!! DD
Oscar
We're going to go see the world's foremost cluster headache specialist. That's very good news Ron, I hope he can help and I'm curious what he will say. I'll bet we're all going to get BOL or or something very similar to it a lot sooner than you think. I believe that, as I saw BOL on THC Farm, just for ridiculous prices but that shows it must be soon available. Oscar
Hipshot
You keep giving all of us hope for something better. I love your outlook. Your glass is always half full and that inspires me. :)Thanks Ron Best wishes and I will watch for news from you. Dan
Bonkers
Thanks, Dan. Haven't heard anything from Dr. Goadsby's office since making arrangements to get Michael's medical records to him. I have every confidence that we will, I just don't know when. I'll let everyone here know when we do. Michael's hurting but he went to work yesterday and intends to again today. He really likes his job. But, still.... Ron
MattyAA
Hey , Sorry for my long break, I have been browsin as of late forums, and as I do always I check on Ron's threads, I am really sad to hear what Michael is going through but... Jeebs I am proud to have same name as you! You are doing a lot for Michael, like an angel, an example of how human being should perform/act with compassion for his brothers and sisters. Ron please pass my thumbs up and well wishes to Michael from a fellow sufferer from across Ocean. I am pretty sure Dr Goadsby is best shot, him being closest to the BOL program is a big opportunity for Michael!

Bonkers
I haven't heard anything more from Dr. Goadsby's office. I sent an email to his Practice Manager earlier today asking if they received all of Mike's pertinent medical records and if they could give me an idea when the good doctor could see him. I'll let you know. Ron
Bonkers
I got an email back from Dr. Goadsby's office: "We have not received any outside records." Amazing! I called the Postal Annex where I had some of Mike's stuff faxed a week ago. They faxed to the wrong number. I called Mike's Dr.'s office to see if they sent all Mike's records last week as I was told. They've been very busy but will send out tomorrow or the next day. When things like this happen in our family, we call it "Leyva luck." Ahhhhhhh.......
clustermom13
Man! Crappy luck. Glad you found out before too long. Still thinking of you both, and wishing you the best. XOXO
Bonkers
I got an email from Dr. Goadsby's office asking questions that I couldn't answer. I think I'd rather than make a fool of myself in front of you guys than in front of them so I'll ask you for help. I received and am paraphrasing the following from Dr. Goadsby's Practice Manager: From my record requests, weÂ’ve received the records from Dr. X. Dr. X is the referring doctor, is that correct? Does he have a PMD? If so what is that the PMDÂ’s info? What is the address and insurance information for Michael? Dr. X is not the referring doctor - the Jeebs is. Dr. X has become both Michael's and my primary doctor (PMD?) since our original primary doctor moved away. Dr. X is a pain specialist who I was referred to after my neck surgeries. I gained so much respect for the man that I asked him if he would take Michael on as a patient. He accepted, so now he's the go-to guy for both Mike and I about medical issues. So, is he our PMD? Maybe that's an acronym used in Europe? I'm anxious to answer the email. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ron
CHfather
Well, here's some very helpful guidance from Wikipedia: PMD may refer to:   * LA/Palmdale Regional Airport (IATA: PMD), a commercial airport in Palmdale, California   * PMD (rapper), member of group EPMD and solo artist   * PMD (software), code analyzer for Java   * PMD 85, 8-bit personal computer produced in Czechoslovakia As an abbreviation, PMD may stand for:   * Phi Mu Delta, a men's social fraternity   * Pakistan Meteorological Department   * Pakistan MNP Database (Guarantee) Limited   * Palmdale, California, mostly in hip-hop culture known as "the PMD"   * Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease   * Pellucid Marginal Degeneration, a degenerative ophthalmological disease   * Photonic Mixer Device   * Physical Medium Dependent, an Ethernet Layer 1 (PHY) sub-layer   * Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, a series of games for the Nintendo DS handheld video game system   * p-Menthane-3,8-diol, the largest constituent in an insect repellent derived from the lemon eucalyptus tree   * Polarization Mode Dispersion   * Polish mine detector   * Premillennial Dispensationalism   * Programming Mistake Detector, see PMD (software)   * Primary Medical Doctor, another name for one's Primary Care PhysicianHence PMD=PCP   * Psychotic depression, major depression with psychotic features   * Pre-metal dielectric   * PageMaker document, file name extension .PMD for Adobe PageMaker I'll bet they're going for the one in blue and red up there, and not the Pakistan Meteorological Department. If the latter, I think they would ask explicitly, "Is he the Pakistan Meteorological Department?" Or, "Is he the LA/Palmdale Regional Airport?" (To be clear, no offense regarding Pakistan is meant in any way here; it's just the funniest (to me) of the things that are listed here. I mean, don't you think that if "Pakistan Meteorological Department" merits inclusion, there must be a thousand others? Where's the Peruvian Metallurgy Department? Or the Pennsylvania Misanthropes for Disarmament or the Patagonian Mothers against Drunkenness? (No offense to Peru, Pennsylvania, or Patagonia, either!)) And though Jeebs is in my opinion far more qualified than most doctors, I think answering the "referring doctor" question with "Bejeebers" might throw them off. It appears that the X-Man can be both the referring doc and the PMD, so why not either go that way, or include a note saying that Dr. Goadsby himself is in effect the referring doctor, since he responded to a phone call by inviting Michael to the clinic? All this is just my PMD, of course (my Personal Meditation on the Discourse).
Bonkers
Funny stuff, Jerry. It's comforting to know that you're always there to offer a helping hand. I'm spending far too much time trying to come up with a clever rejoinder so I'll just say thanks and get on with my life. Bonkers
I forgot to mention that Michael has now been approved for a new patient appointment and is on a wait-list. I guess that was a pretty important piece of information that I omitted, huh? I am the Scarecrow.
Bejeeber
And here I always thought PMD stood for Pickled Mambo Donuts! I guess Primary Medical Doctor it must be then - good snag Jerry. 8-) And I can't think of anything better than Jerry's vote for doctor X for both referring and primary doctor. I sure hope they can actually make good on the UCSF Headache Center Practice Manager's offer (that we have in writing!) to "do our best to accommodate an appointment expeditiously once records are received". Hoping that in this case "expeditiously" means expedite.
Pixie-elf
Okay, with the PMD stuff / referring doctor, I know at least with Medicaid as insurance, you HAVE to be referred by your primary physician or someone else, to go see a specialist. Sometimes one specialist can refer you to another kind, too. But with Medicaid at least in Texas, that's how it works. Hope you guys get in ASAP. Praying for you and Michael! Bonkers
Haven't been here for a couple of days. Computer's busted again. Think I need a new hard drive. Got a wireless router (we've got satellite internet) so we could use Mike's laptop (something I've never used). Still have to set up email account to see if any word from Goadsby. Bonkers
Email was easy to set up, but thanks just the same, Brew. PMD=PCP, but thanks just the same, CHF. Got an email from Dr. Goadsby's office manager today which said, in part: "He is approved for a new patient appointment however we are currently booked through the New Year and we are waiting to finalize Dr. GoadsbyÂ’s calendar for January and February. For general referrals Dr. GoadsbyÂ’s waitlist is 7+ months long, however we always do our best to expedite cluster patients." I'll call them tomorrow and ask what 'expedite cluster patients' means. CHfather
Sounds like you got shuffled from the doc himself (isn't that who Jeebs communicated with?) into the doc's bureaucracy. Any chance of getting Doc G back into the loop? What stops can we pull out here to do that? Halpern always says he's standing ready to help, and that he reads and responds to his emails from Clusterbusters folks. His relationship with Goadsby isn't perfect (as he reported at the conference), but it seems like Goadsby might respond to a nudge from him on a collegial basis. PMD=PCP is what I said! I'm wrong enough often enough here not to be wrongly accused of being wrong when wrong is what I wasn't! Hopin' that laughing gas works!!!!!!! That would be cool. Glad you're going to try it soon. As always, my best to Michael.
Bonkers
Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, PMD=PCP is NOT what you said. Sorry to have to prove you wrong yet again but PMD=PCP would be correct in your original statement ONLYÂ if you had capitalized the C and P in "Primary care physician" which you clearly did NOT. Perhaps you should be more careful, hmm? ;D (I wonder how long it'll take till CHF proves ME wrong?)
CHfather
Primary Medical Doctor, another name for one's Primary Care Physician Hence PMD=PCP * Psychotic depression, major depression with psychotic features * Pre-metal dielectric * PageMaker document, file name extension .PMD for Adobe PageMaker I'll bet they're going for the one in blue and red up there, and not the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Case closed.
