Flashback questions.

Hello all,

This may sound stupid but it is real for me. To start off i will give you a little history of my busting and preventive methods. 1st time i busted came at the end of a crazy long cycle 4 years ago. I started with RC seeds and did a 40 a month batch for prevent with much success. Then i moved up to shrooms about 2 years ago learning how to do it myself.

The first year i was taking a rec dose once a month but started getting some hardcore weird shit start happening, like constant seeing the color effects of red and greens like when i'm on a trip. And also i was seeing lots of little things out of the corner of my eye.. Just little shit, and by the time you look.. nothing!! Well i started to lengthen out my time in between doses. Like 4 or 5 months.

Last dose was 6 weeks ago and the CH is at bay, But the weird shit is still here. The little flashbacks, The colors and Corner of the eye thing. But this time its coming with a 5 second panic flash with it?? Please don't call my crazy :D.

I just wonder if i tripped to hard or to many times?? I hope this doesn't sound stupid... And maybe there is some answer for this lil shit and will it just pass with time??

Any advise is welcomed.

Coach Bill

Coach Bill,

How long has it been since you had a eye check up? I would start there with the works. Just a suggestion. I don't think these quirky things have anything to do with dosing.

Coach Bill,

In that case, you might consider an exam.

I had to do in depth eye exams because of a drug I once took. They checked me for color blindness and asked questions about red and greens. Also had to watch for pressure changes. The final results were my eyes are fine and no RX change for the last 5 years.

However, I do see things that aren't there every now and then. Usually if I am extra tired or stressed, and sometimes for no reason. And yes, sometimes it gives me a scare or jolt. And I'm not crazy, so you can't be either.

Before busting I wondered if those kip 10 hits could cause eye damage. Something like a retinal tear. A good sneeze can do that. Never have heard anyone report that.

Many of the flashback stories seem to be in essence PTSD.  One of the most common things you will hear is about flashbacks coming on after a really bad trip.  That being said, even without a bad trip it is possible to have lingering effects from psychedelics.   It's not that strange to me really, I mean hell, we know that these drugs make a change in our brains for months at a time...That's why we take them.

I have never heard of anyone having flashbacks from light trips even when repeated, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.  I definitely know one guy who had pretty bad flashbacks after a huge dose of DMT, but he stopped partaking in DMT and eventually it went away.

At one point I had what I guess some people would call flashbacks...Me and my wife called it "me getting really fricking weird"  I just started getting tripped out in my normal every day conversations, and the trips I took were getting extra extra weird.  The thing is though. it only happened when I first decided to start busting again after years of stopping for health reasons.  Anyone that knows me knows that I tend to overdue things.  I got so sick of triptans I swore them off for quite a while.  Instead I smoked DMT every day and every weekend I would take numerous LSD doses along with 8 or 9 grams of mushy's.  After a couple months of this (seriously) I just started getting weird.  I think I was having slight visual disturbances, but I think I was just getting too weird to notice or care.  After taking a break, I pretty readily came back to reality.

In truth most of these situations would not be classified as "flashbacks" but Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD)  More on that here-

My 2 cents--I think it's possible to be getting flashbacks (or more likely HPPD) from non-heroic doses if taken repeatedly or if you were to have a really traumatic time when on them, but I would bet that almost all the cases would go away with not too long of a break.

Thanks all,

The word flashback to me means shit like this.. I will be sitting there and out of nowhere it will feel like i'm tripping, it only last for like 10 seconds. It is not necessarily unpleasant. But it is weird, and it seems like it happens every now and again, i don't keep a log of it so id say maybe once or twice every 6 weeks or so.

Just that along with some of the other shit that's going on makes me wonder if i need to get my head checked. Ricardo, i think you may have summed it up for me. Just a bunch of weird little things, But i do get a strong feeling these effects are coming from the shrooms.

Full blown flashback....not me. Ihave some deja vu type stuff and after a large dose , it doesnt take so much the next time. It is as if there are some memory connections that are desensitized.  Better get those peepers looked at coach.  Good to hear your still having practice ;)

I think the mention of the optic nerve is important, with respect to CH. Personally, a 'flash bang' view is sometimes part of the CH in progress. Flash of light, bang of pain.

I am under constant surveillance by my eye specialist due to change in eye color and no issues have been uncovered that directly relate to CH. But, the Dr is concerned and insists on maintaining frequent exams.

Coach, get the eye exam. It is a good idea to put concern to rest so that you do not worry about your eyesight! :) I know that you did not mention loss of sight as a concern, but it would be a good thing to clear off the map!

Have you had a difficult or challenging experience with psilocybin mushrooms? If so,-

Roland Griffiths / The Psilocybin Research Team at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine would greatly appreciate your help conducting an anonymous, web-based study to characterize difficult or challenging experiences that people sometimes have after taking psilocybin mushrooms.
