Sue mcdonald
Saw on newspaper online.. maybe washo or nyt? But they showed picture of lady who had brain surgery... and she now wears rose tinted glasses all the time - to mediate her headaches. Saw pic n read abt in last 10 days. So other specialists have seen, noted, and utilised it - successfully. Also? Read green light is supposed to help migraines. U r supposed to stare into the light source for few hours ata time. Tried it dec-jan 2020-3021 ot absolutely did not help me. I prefer soft lighting.. and prefer blue to green lightd. Blue did seem make my chas seem worse. Havent tried pink lightbulbs - yet. My dad who didnt have migraines? But did have timmitis bad when he was older? Swore sunglasses were important during daytime and he wire yellow glasses for night driving. My mom had occasional bad "sinus" headaches - a few when in mid 20s. Then again? My ha's r resolving... slowly but surely. So being ever hopeful? May not need anything except regular lightbulbs....
Bejeeber
I see one outfit is marketing Rose Tinted Glasses for migraine prevention, which I imagine could be the same goggles as used by the lady in the news story mentioned by Sue. .........."This is achieved by a filter called FL-41, which Axon Optics modified over the last decade for maximum migraine relief." I've been told I've been seeing life through rose colored glasses, as in Sue's "being ever hopeful" reference - one would have to conclude that's why I haven't suffered from any migraines for so long. Now to start seeing life through the yellow-green / spinach omelette colored glasses described in @TorontoCanada's link, in hopes of a permanent CH remission. Sue mcdonald
Pink. Pink colored lens in glasses. Pink. Not so.much rose. I should've been more precise. She wore glasses w pink lens after her brain surgery to remove tumor - ostensibly to alleviate migraines. Pink. Pink.

Bohm
I have reached out to the author of the article, Prof. Wilkins at the University of Essex to get more information and mentioned all of us lab rats who could be interested in trying out such a device. I'll post again if he communicates back. 2

BoscoPiko
I would think polarized glasses would sort of work like blue light reduction which you can put on most cell phones and can purchase for computer screens.. I have heard this helps for migraine don't know about CH...
Shaun brearley
I work with computers everyday at work. I've reduced the blue light on my screen and it hasn't help one bit .So from my experience blue light reduction doesn't help CH , but I could be wrong

Apparently those w migraines, and i believe we're all on a headache continuum, have "hypetexcitability of the occipital areas". So, yes the leap wld be thats how/why polarized helps migraineurs and it wld also help chas. I dont know how much it would help.... but every little bit.... I have an actual screen cover that filters out nearly all blue light on my computer (which I am on 7 to 8 hrs. a day) and it's never helped... I think it's a migraine thing as many with migraine are sensitive to light...

Bohm
So I heard back from Prof. Arnold Wilkins at the University of Essex and this is what he had to say about his research into the glasses. Thank you for your letter, which I was very pleased to receive. I now have two out of two patients whose cluster headaches have remitted with precision tints. The tints were both provided by the Intuitive Colorimeter, but they were not the same. The second patient’s tints did not absorb short wavelength light. This leads me to suppose that the critical feature is that the tint increases visual comfort, and that the Colorimeter is a good way of selecting the tint. I would be extremely interested in setting up a trial, perhaps in collaboration with your organisation and a medical advisor. The Intuitive Colorimeter is widely available among optometrists in the UK but there are few individuals with the machine in the USA. I am currently getting together a list of US practitioners who have the machine and might be interested in being involved in a study. A few points about funding such a study. The firm that make the Colorimeter and tints have offered 10 free pairs of the lenses in the first instance. So far, practitioners have offered their time for the assessment without charge, but it would be nice to avoid taking advantage of their goodwill. As I am sure your will be aware, 2/2 patients without cluster is a good ratio. I have hope that we just might have stumbled upon a really useful non-invasive treatment. I will write again when I have a list of US practitioners. In the meantime, if any of your members live near Ottawa and wish to try precision tints then I would recommend that they get in touch with Karen Monet of Opticalm (https://www.opticalm.ca/) Best wishes Arnold Arnold Wilkins Emeritus Professor University of Essex UK
Sue mcdonald
As an interesting aside? I met a young girl one day looking for agates on the yellowsrone river. She told me she has a learning disability. Whenever she reads printed work, her mind can only see the areas where theres spaces after the periods and she sees the page as a map of short or long lines created by those spaces. The cure is to lay ovet a pink clear peice of lightweight plastic ontop of the printed page. Then her brain sees the words and not the geometric pattetn created by spaces after periods. For what its worth. And lets just lay this to rest before anyone starts having palpitations - i was not very good at finding agates.. it was an interesting diversion for a few years. My dad started me on rocks. Nice hobby cause u can walk away from it for decades and go back if n when u choose to. I dont even have any agates now. What i lived the most? Mud rocks. Some banded jasper. I rly didnt have but maybe 3 small quality peices and theyre w my son now. It was fun tho
