  1. I think my curiosity about all this is im still skeptical that the sphenopalatine is always the culprit. As one person stated here they had the block but it did not alieve the pain in some areas. there are several ganglion (nerve bundles) in that area, I think using these types of block to identifiy the ganglions that are involved could be a useful diagnostic tool ,, not a solution ,,
  2. waiting to go to lunch ... zzzzzzz (clearly I am overpaid) http://www.fauquierent.net/contactheadache.htm

  5. I do not suffer CH's (mom of CHer) can you tell me please if this picture shows where the eye pain exists ?? http://path.medrounds.org/2006/03/where-is-ciliary-ganglion.html
  6. from the video (which isn't exact by any means) im wondering and have been now for a couple weeks from reading and reading and reading if this device isn't stimulating the CIliary Ganglion instead of the Sphenopaletine or Peterygopalatine ganglion... in my reading its the Ciliary Ganglion that caused the lacrimimal glands to secrete tears and the nose to run in the CH's (classic symptoms).. this might be why the Sphenopaletine ganglion blocks don't have compelte or desired affects that the numbing agents applied need to be directed at the Ciliary Ganglion... Thoughts ???? (way to much free time on my hands)
  7. The muscle tension in sholder happens exactly to my son as well. ALso when he was younger I noticed a deformity in the growth of his scapula on that side. I took him to a doc and he said its ok ,, different growth rate ,, my son also has a deformity of the surrounding boney structure in his ear canal on the CH side. ?????
  8. actually Marcaine or Bupivacaine is indicated for local infiltration, peripheral nerve block, sympathetic nerve block, and epidural and caudal blocks. It is sometimes used in combination with epinephrine to prevent systemic absorption and extend the duration of action. The 0.75% (most concentrated) formulation is used in retrobulbar block.[2] It is the most commonly used local anesthetic in epidural anesthesia during labor, as well as in post-operative pain management.[3] its a caine ,, not derivative of codine. its in the same family as cocaine, lidocaine, novacaine etc.

  10. no not life threating ,, my husband has had them all his life .. they last for less than a minute or 2 and then are gone. and yes they seem to come in groups. ie. he will have 1 a day or every couple days for a couple weeks then not get them for months. Since they are so short lived for him he just sits and waits for them to go.

  16. well now .. isn't this just interesting .. maybe why something works for some .. but not for others .. Chapter 12 – Nasociliary Nerve Block Indications and Clinical Considerations Nasociliary nerve block is useful in the diagnosis and treatment of Charlin syndrome, which is also known as nasociliary neuralgia.Although as with most headache syndromes the exact cause of the pain of Charlin syndrome is unknown, the pathogenesis of this uncommon source of head and face pain is thought to be dysfunction of the nasociliary ganglion in a manner analogous to the dysfunction of the sphenopalatine ganglion that is thought to be the source of cluster headache. The presenting symptom of patients with Charlin syndrome is severe paroxysms of ocular or retro-orbital pain that radiates into the ipsilateral forehead, nose, and maxillary region. This pain is associated with voluminous ipsilateral rhinorrhea and congestion of the nasal mucosa as well as significant inflammation of the affected eye. The pain of Charlin syndrome has a rapid onset to peak, with attacks lasting 45 to 60 minutes. In some patients …
