Hey Johnny,

Free concert on July 3rd in Sioux City, Iowa. Carlos Santana will be stopping in and will play at dark. Beings he will play after the sun goes down, I'm going to attempt to be there.

This is an annual event in SC---"Day in the Park."

The last time I tried it was 100 degrees and you know the rest the story. I ended up at the emergency station with a "headache". They told me to drink some water and go sit under a tree.

I'm thinking a maintenance dose and no sun, I can do this.

Santana's guitar from the band-shell, rolling over the hills is magic.                Leslie

There is very little that I remember from the late 60's, early 70s -- but music is the one thing that is still fresh in my memory.  I was blessed to be able to see many artists live, including Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.  But I think the best concert I ever attended was Carlos Santana. It don't get much better than that!  Enjoy Leslie!!

I enjoy all kinds of music, from country to classic.  I will be checking out the links that you posted Matty - Thanks.

I think Beethoven symph NO. 9 is the sound of my life, living with the beast. As we battle, but in the end wins a certain amount of control over our lives back, by doing the "opposite."

And that this maybe be a genetic old hunter instinct, giving us a genetic failure in evolution, as it is with schizophrenia. :o LOL

Great thread!

Music is one of the things that allowed me to hang on during dark moments.

For me it seems that some hits are triggered when I get too excited and other hits are triggered when I get too relaxed.

The trick is to reverse the ongoing effect. Trying to relax when you're too excited and trying to increase your energy when you're too relaxed.

Music can help with this. Uptempo or downtempo accroding to the situation

Here are two of my favorite gems that work great durring a hit:

Downtempo: Flow by Dimension 5

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WmC3RQ6raI

Uptempo: Lunar Civilization by Crop Circles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_XZ62k616M&feature=related

Try to find a decent quality version and listen to them with headphones.

Happy 4th everyone,

Well, I made it to the Santana concert. It was a hot, humid day and I was worried about the cluster curse.

As Carlos came on stage and the sun was down, a big black cloud came rolling in with a cool wind. And Carlos said, "this is perfect."

He played for almost 2 hours. It was wonderful.

The crowd estimated 30,000, in a fairly small space. I found a tree to lean against, and got lost with the music.

I really wanted to make that trip, but didn't think I could handle it. I dosed 5 days ahead of time, knowing that heat, pollen and people are my triggers. That is my last outdoor concert. But I did it with a little help from my friends. ;)

MattyAA,

I did finally get around to listen to the music you posted. I really enjoy stumbling onto something new, or at least new to me.

Last night I spent sometime trying to post a few that I like but ran into a brick wall when It came to sending the links. I really did like Kid CuDi Alive and also Nick Kamarera & Deepside. They reminded me a tiny bit of Mind Bomb from a few years back---similar but not the same.

And we both seem to be into REM, especially "Losing My Religion."

Strange we are so far apart in geography and age, but both choose that song.

I had picked out, Talking Heads, "Totally Nude" for DD and Ron. I think David Bryne (spelling) is a genius.

Take care and try some stuff ;)      Leslie
