  1. My heart is out to ya Jeff... Sleep is my biggest issue as well, hope you can get the set right for a bust.
  2. Ricardo- I value your knowledge and your open minded inquisitive nature, you are a searcher and experimenter like me. I know how bad I feel sometimes about things I post or how I behave on the boards... but when I see someone like yourself feeling that, well I just want to give you a big hug and say "Its all good". I see your heart, and it is a good one! We all know the deal here, we are battling a nasty beast. We must forgive ourselves and each other when that beast escapes us and rears its ugly little pointed head, and appreciate each other for our contributions... after all, we all want the same thing here... love, peace and PFD! 8-) Keep doing what you do so well.Â
  3. ob, The numbers are not really hard to understand. For RC seeds, 30 is what you need to be relatively sure you are getting enough medicine, 50-60 is a more preferred dose for those with experience. The experience is never helped by being nervous about wigging out. If you are nervous, less is better. It is always wise to start low and work your way up as you become more comfortable with the effects of the medicine. That is why the numbers you get are all over the place, because we do not want to recommend a higher dose for someone who is nervous about it. You take a smaller dose with the understanding that you do so to become familiar and comfortable with the effects, but doing so you may not get an effective dose... but then you may... we are all different. That said, most people's fears are quickly dispelled as soon as they try it. It is mild, and most report a "few beer" buzz at best... but mostly just a comfortable night's sleep. And that is at the 50-60 level. We are all different. Some more sensitive to meds than others. It is always prudent to start low and work up. I would say the 30 RC seeds target would be nothing to get nervous about. If you were fearless and/or had experience with this type of medicine, I would say go straight to 60. If you take a much smaller dose than 30, you will most likely be disappointed because you will most likely feel no effect to judge by, most likely get no medicinal value, and now will have to wait 5 days to dose again. Just my two cents. Good Luck.
  4. Welcome to the board FLUFFHEAD. I can't really add to what has already been said, but this will help you understand the 5 day thing... SHUTTING THE DOOR http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cb/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1290130968
  5. Thanks for all you have done... our very own TV star! Happy B-Day! PFW
  6. I applaud your efforts... but we are talking about triggers not causes. I am not sure simply avoiding triggers can be considered a treatment. Certainly anything that decreases frequency and severity is most valuable, as anyone who has had so-so results with prevents can attest to... but at the end of the day, all triggers avoided, the beast still comes (at least that is my personal experience). Your info makes sense, tyramine is a trigger for many... and since most preventative treatments just suppress the beast, if they work at all, this may be a viable option for those whom nothing else works. I just feel tip-toeing around the beast is not the same as banishing him. I'll choose busting any day (cause it works for me), and then go on a tyramine binge and enjoy life with the beast gone.
  7. I know those guys in #1... one of them is our fearless leader. And what's with everyone's eyes in #18... that must have been just after that big bag of pot accidentally caught on fire. ;D
  8. Wow, what a line up! I really really want to go, but at $350 it makes it a little hard to swallow. I could actually drive from home each day (not fun but do-able)... maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list for Santa.

    HELP!

Indomethacin is a good test if he will give it to you. You say you had some success with FROVA (Frovatriptan). This is a class of medications called triptans. CH patients get little help from the pill forms, we need the injectable form, Imitrex injections (Sumitriptan). If that works, it should become your number 2 abortive treatment, behind oxygen. But again, it does not sound like a clear cut case of CH, thus the importance of a good headache specialist to sort things out. It could be a life threatening condition that is treatable (unlike CH, which is not life threatening and really has no "we can fix that" treatment).

    HELP!

You really need a neurologist, one who has extra training in, and specializes in headache disorders to sort this out. In the mean time you could take the "cluster quiz" at clusterheadaches.com to see how well it fits your symptoms.
  11. That seems accurate, just 10 million total to finish phase II trials (1.5 of that 10 immediately to get started). Then that gets you in position to get it picked up by a manufacturer... but no guarantee of that either.
  12. Jesus, 8 hours of sleep? Don't know when I last had that.
  13. Ting, I have come to love you through your posts... One thing we have is strength, no doubt! One thing I know is you will find a way... and if we ever catch up with spiny... bada bing! I think she is on the right (race) track!
  14. I am feel'n good, want a beer (indeed rare for me)... go to the local pub and start up a conversation with the guy next to me... turns out to be a CH sufferer for 30 years! This is the first time he has met a fellow CH'er. We start comparing notes and tears are stream'in... just knowing finally someone actually knows what he is talking about. We talk about doctors and treatments and I assert my knowledge, things that work well that he didn't know about... more tears. I talk about my success and other's regarding busting, the more comprehensive treatment, not just treating a single attack, but long lasting relief... more tears... To watch all of my reactions over the last few years all come up in one hour... incredible! I am his emergency contact for the next cycle... I hope he doesn't wait for that and busts to prevent. I also think he will be here as well before too long. This is good sh!t! P.S. He stated he had sometimes periods of remission beyond the usual seasonal thing... I asked him if he had ever done psychedelics and he was once a recreational user. I won't have a problem getting him to dose with me on a preventative schedule... and always nice to have experienced company.
  15. I got my T checked and it was fine... BUT it looks like I need to go back for the "free T" test. It would appear that is the problem here... not turning it into free T. Time for more research.
  16. Amen to all this... CHF instantly earned my highest respect when I first came here... he's da man!
  17. I think that is just Kaboomski! 8-)
  18. My two cents... O2 is all about creating a chemical/physiological change that shuts down an attack. It really has nothing to do with lack of O2 in our system, nor our ability to process O2 through our lungs. In my experience that change is not sustainable, nor should it be sustained for a long period of time. I have tried sleeping with oxygen, only to wake up with a hit that O2 would not touch. It is the change that shuts it down, using O2 at other times or other ways just detracts from its effectiveness (nowhere to change to/from). I haven't sited any of the technical terms here, just keeping it simple.
  19. That is so cool, congratulations ting... keep kick'n but.
  20. Oh well jeebs, she is gonna keep us guessing. I am still going with the spin'n version.
  21. Sounds like safe haven... Then again ayawaska was ruled legal by the supreme court as part of religious rites... a cult is not far off... Wikipedia... "Gonzales v. O Centro Espirita Beneficente Uniao do Vegetal, was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on November 1, 2005; the decision, released February 21, 2006, allows the UDV to use the tea in its ceremonies pursuant to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. In a similar case an Ashland, Oregon based Santo Daime church sued for their right to import and consume ayahuasca tea. In March 2009, U.S. District Court Judge Panner ruled in favor of the Santo Daime, acknowledging its protection from prosecution under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.[50]" Edit: Maybe we are approaching this from the wrong angle... or at the very least, this angle may protect those willing to be the data needed to get this ball rolling. But, judging from Dan's experience... it looks like we in the US may have evolved beyond that point. (Those puritans looking to make an example of someone still scare the hell out of me... reminds me of the days of burning witches at the stake).
