  1. Ugh that's a genuinely rotten hand you were dealt punched with there Jeff. I'm just now getting to this thread and it's roller coaster ride. I hope these latest improvements snowball in to some genuinely PF days'n nights for ya, and toot sweet!! (as opposed to the toot metallic of your welder O2 tank).
  2. Whoa I forgot about that!
  3. Sheesh there goes Ricardo fishing for compliments again. But seriously before I go trying to turn this into a roast, I'd like to hop on the Ricardo extreme appreciation bandwagon here if I may - Ricardo you are one rare individual, to be so well incredibly well researched like some kind of hallucinogen nerd or something, but still patient and happy to dumb it down for fellers like me. ;D I rate your contribution here as being in the officially HUGE category, and how you stay positive and helpful 99.9999% of the time, even while you continue to experience stubborn CH, I don't know, but count me among the many who really appreciate it and admire it. [smiley=thumbup.gif] And you never, ever deserved to be derisively referred to as "Ricky Ricardo" LOL (I forget if that was on this message board or at ch.com).

WHA??!! WOW that is incredible , although it's understandable if you're not in a 100% partying mood since you're still getting slammed with the CH. That's some unusually good insurance! OK this is the second time I've posted the link in the past 5 minutes about extending your imitrex, but hey I'm a broken record: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/imitrex.html
  5. Hi Pos, Spiny makes a very good point about high flow 100% O2 - it is often that much more effective than low flow rebreather O2 that CH'ers can still abort the attacks when detoxing off the meds. In the meantime, when imitrex needs to be taken at work, this info, if you haven't encountered it already, describes how many many CH'ers abort their attacks with smaller doses of imitrex, lessening the side effect risk, etc.: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/imitrex.html
  6. Hi Pos, Glad to hear your partner is getting results right on the first dose - that bodes well! Others more expert on the subject than I will hopefully be along to help answer questions, but meantime I'll weigh in on one of them: No, that approach would be ineffective. He should actually wait around 5 days between mushroom doses until the CH attacks are well under control, then keep extending time between doses. Some former chronics have gotten to the point where they could go months between doses. 8-)
  7. Well that's some valuable info I had missed (or forgotten) until now - thanks! 8-)
  8. Thanks for the Wilson's link Heilette. I may actually try some of those body temp raising herbs at one point for fatigue'n junk, not that I have any idea whether there would be a CH correlation. There's a classic book "Hypothyroidism: The Unsuspected Illness". The way I remember it, the author was a Navy doctor who had a LOT of servicemen he could run experiments on, and when he measured waking temperature on them, he found the ones with low temps were hypothyroid, and responded to treatment, although conventional tests weren't catching it. So his method is to put a thermometer in the 'ol armpitsky upon waking (and remaining still) for several days in a row, and if it consistently registers low, well that tels ya sumthin' Mine came in consistently low - in the 97-ish F range. I've seen others wonder aloud whether the thyroid bone is connected to the CH bone, but don't recall anyone reporting CH relief from thyroid treatment.
  9. Thanks BlueB, it's good to see this being covered, and of course it's not surprising. "A recent study of people with advanced-stage cancer found that a single dose of psilocybin led to lasting improvements in anxiety and depression."
  10. Agreed about sunday night, and your plan for upping it to a 50 seed dose sounds like a good idea to me too. Please keep us posted on how things go.
  11. I would say that too! Even 60 seeds is just nothing side effects wise IMO compared to something like 1.5g to 2g of mushrooms.
  12. Hey FLUFFHEAD, Glad to see CHf dished out his usual very good and succint info/ideas for you. I think you'd be well advised to study them carefully. I agree with all of them including the detox that'll be necessary from those tryptamines. Many of us tried O2 back in the day and gave up on it. That was because low liter flow/rebreather O2 as it is still commonly prescribed wasn't effective for us. Enter higher flow 100% O2 as CHf has linked to and it's a whole new ballgame. Much more effective. LSD and Psilocybin are both proven CH killers alright, and I'm one of those who believes LSD may be the most effective although mushrooms are no slouch - in fact they're very powerful! You are one prime candidate for busting!! I'll be watching for your reports.
  13. The birfday boy is all those things indeed! Hope it was a most excellent (and PF!) party day for the Hipster, anything less would be terribly inappropriate. [smiley=birthdays.gif] [smiley=birthdays.gif] [smiley=birthdays.gif]
  14. I too would like to know how large amounts of money smell. Off topic Jeebsaroni tip of the day: When applying alcohol to skin or cuts try using good 'ol Vodka instead. Yep grain alcohol makes for a non toxic anti-bacterial, killing the germs nicely but not depositing a toxic solvent into your bloodstream (or fuming up your nose!) as isopropyl alcohol allegedly does.
  15. I too eluded capture in these photos, retaining my aura of mystique.
  16. Color now returning to message board ;D, but blugh, sorry to hear about the problems with the various tubings! Sounds fecking miserable. :'( I have an uncle who just had an intestinal blockage from a hospital stay, and the way he describes it, the first scan they did on him for it didn't work, so they ended up giving him another dose of the stuff they were putting in him that lights up in the scan or something, then they scanned him again. Turns out that stuff can have a dissolving effect on blockages and by the time he got the second dose that's just what it did!
  17. Yep, I would put paint in the general *fumes* category along with stuff like gasoline and bleach that can be triggers for me.
  18. Glad the attacks have become less severe but sorry they're still there for ya Mike. Agreed with Spiny that the 90% male thing dished out by the medical establishment is just more of their old BS. Too many females who eventually make their way to the CH forums only arrive after an experience with a doctor who refused to diagnose them with CH because they were female. My experience with Sansert is that it is an incredibly nasty drug with horrific side effect potential, and in my case it was ineffective. I think we agree that pharma is fraught with failure and peril when it comes to preventatives for CH! I see from your earlier posts that you tried HBWR, but have you tried other busting substances such as mushrooms (which tend to be MUCH more effective than Sansert)? There are a LOT of CH'ers here who've had incredible experiences becoming pain free and even able to drink alcohol etc. without a triggering effect (including some chronics who've gained 6 months or so at a stretch completely PF) by simply ingesting some of these plants that grow right at our feet, the medicine that nature intended. Granted, when trauma is involved it can be tougher to get anything to work. :'( I've seen so many CH'ers report onset or worsening of their CH following head trauma that I'm personally convinced there can be a connection. So I don't know, this may be a semi-tough crowd for your tyramine avoidance diet - at least with the luckier among us like me who are PF now thanks to busting. Interested to see how others will respond.
  19. Agreed with CHf. We've seen conflicting things about Kudzu with no real concrete evidence of anything. So with the latest report from davidj of no interference that CHf mentioned (and also now hearing of the researcher's comment), I'm no longer waving warning flags as vigorously about the possibility of Kudzu crashing any busting parties. And 10 seeds is a super low dose IMO, so if nothing happens we can't necessarily blame it on the Kudzu. If you haven't seen any results from the Kudzu, yeah I think maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and discontinue it now, so there would be no question about it's interaction with your second bust, which will likely involve a higher number of seeds....

    HELP!

Growing frustrated and frustrateder here that the medical profession hasn't provided you with an expert diagnosis yet - that just plain blows. In the meantime while you're working on getting that diagnosis ASAP, I suppose your plan of trying some of the treatments suggested above might provide some clues (but not necessarily conclusive evidence) as to the classification of the attacks you're suffering from, depending on how you respond. I would hope that you've had an MRI since the concussion? I'm guessing that'd be pretty important at this stage! Please continue to keep us apprised, I feel for you, wish I could offer more treatment suggestions, and am joining with the other fine people here in pulling for you to get some speedy answers regarding whether this is Hemicrania Continua or what, and to get some major relief!
  21. The term "Auggghhhh!" immediately comes to mind. So now this is the CB forum official theme song??!!  Warning to the uninitiated, below video has induced gag reflex in those who lived in or visited households with small children who watched Barney over and over and over and over... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsKO_r76kfQ

    HELP!

What FunGuy said about the CH, HC and Indomethacin. Sorry, but I'm thinking you could still benefit from a diagnosis by a headache specialist, if you could go around your lousy sounding doctor and locate one in your area. There's this OUCH list of "sufferer recommended doctors": http://www.ouch-us.org/chgeneral/doctors.htm The list isn't iron clad or fool proof, but there might be something there... Also if you feel like mentioning here what area you're in, it's possible someone may know of a good neuro there and respond.
