  1. Welcome Paula, What other things have you and your husband tried for his cluster? Any preventatives? Verapamil is the most frequently used at a high dose. You should read up on the D3 regiment, that should slow the hits down and lessen the pain but can take a few days to kick in. Oxygen is the best for aborting clusters with no side effects. If your doctor will not prescribe it for you we have a tun of information about home setups using welding oxygen. That should be the thing you try to get set up today! I will also down a 5hr energy drink when I feel a cluster coming on to help the oxygen work a little faster and I can even drink them at 3am without them keeping me awake. Poke around on this site for a few hours and ask a lot of questions and we can help get things under control for the both of you. Good luck and welcome to the club.

  2. In high cycle I've been using up to 6 a day where i was having 12-14 attacks a day and O2 was just not sufficient to abort. Under 'normal' circumstances O2 should be the preferred option, but in my high cycles the attacks are just too severe and extremely painful. Yes it is absolutely not recommended to take so many a day but it was the only option to get the beast at bay for a couple of hours. Now i am in my lower cycle and use 1 a day (for 5 months already), the others I can manage with O2. As to what @CHfathers recommends to split, nowadays there is also the 3mg available instead of the 6mg, which work also for me in low cycle although they work not as quick as the 6mg. On the other hand with the 3mg there are less rebounds. All the best

  3. ...if you can work out the O2 supply and a regulator (Amazon, Alibaba, Flipcart?) it may make your triptan pursuit moot.... ....imitrex statdose pens are quite easy to use....you don't even see the needle...remove the safety, press the button...look for a version of less than 6 mg... ....using vials of imitrex you can inject only what you need (2-3 mg for many) with insulin needles....they are small and virtually painless. one abort and you will not be worried about injecting being a problem anymore... .....the nasals work best with proper technique...plug opposite nostril, tilt head back slightly, inhale GENTLY as you press plunger. if it drips out you need to inhale more, if it goes down your throat and tastes awful, inhale less. this too will become rote with enough use (hopefully minimal because O2, energy drinks, busting, and/or D3 regimen render triptans a fading memory).... best j

  4. ...absolutely no reason to just ride out hits if your prevents are not working.... or you are having breakthroughs. just be cautious on overuse...not heart healthy and can cause rebounds. sorry if i missed, is O2 not working? .... as others have said, orals are useless as abortives....however, some folks who know their cycle and hit pattern well are able to use as sort of a prevent to get some sleep or for pf time for an event.... ...re nasal sprays...i don't think it's a waste to find if something works...or doesn't....is equally valuable info either way. Zomig NS (5 mg) was my go to as abort of last resort...no side effects and a long pf window. also easily and unobtrusively used... ...the reports i've seen indicate that many folks can successfully abort with less than 6 mg...which is a big HAMMER. 2-3 mg worked great for me and many others with fewer, if any, side effects, less chance of rebounds, cheaper, more aborts per script. hack the stat pens or better yet, vials and insulin needles.... best jonathan

  5. I got my second Moderna shot the 27th of April. Did not get any hits at all. It definitely effected my arthritis for about 20 hours.

  7. I had both shots done and no change in my clusters at all. Pfizer is the one I had if that makes any difference.

  8. I was getting hit just before the shot. Now I'm stuck in an unbustable state for the first time but the odds were against me. Probably not tied together but you never know.

  9. @Paula i got lucky and my primary care doc prescribed an O2 tank. He has since retired and I’m hoping to get my neuro to prescribe it in June when I go for my visit but I’m really keeping my fingers crossed. I am not sure about welding o2. I know there is someone else on the forum based in FL

  10. Klasterman, Sorry, but you've been banned. I don't take something like that lightly. I think maybe 3 in the entire time I've helped with this site. Being just plain hateful to anyone here is not acceptable. Your cure is not a cure. That's simple fact and sorry if I came across strong in my earlier post. I'll leave your content for a few days then delete. Good luck to you. That's not sarcastic, I truly hope you can reflect and grow. Cheers, J

  11. Clusterbusters Has Exciting News for 2020 Dear friends, For nearly 20 years, Bob Wold has managed Clusterbusters as a volunteer. He takes our desperate calls in the middle of the night, answers emails, travels, organizes, and sacrifices time with his family in order to ensure that every person living with cluster headache has the best life possible. His efforts in education, driving research, and support are unprecedented and unparalleled. In addition, Bob has held a regular job to help support his family. He does all of this, likely working 80 or more hours a week in total, with so much kindness and without complaint. He also lives with the same crippling disease that we are fighting to eradicate. We are living in a special time in the headache community. More attention is being given to research and to our disease. We have received tremendous support from the research community and even more amazing support from our own patient community. It is time for Clusterbusters to make a change. We have a growth opportunity, but we need to focus. Consequently, Clusterbusters is proud to announce that we have asked for and received Bob's resignation from our board of directors. He is no longer our president. Instead, we have hired him as our Executive Director. He will now work under the direction of the Board of Directors full time to carry out the mission and vision of Clusterbusters that he developed in the early part of the 2000s. As the position of President of the Board has been vacated, I have been asked to serve as the President and I have accepted this position. I am so proud to be able to continue to serve this community that has given me so much. Thank you all for your support. As you may know, we have added Ainslie Course to our Board of Directors. We are excited to include her as this will help us to grow and expand our reach. Thank you, Ainslie, for adding your talents and light to our community. We will be continuing to grow our amazing organization. We are so proud of Bob Wold, those who came before us, and all of the accomplishments of Clusterbusters, and we are looking forward to helping to shape a better future for everyone living with cluster headache. 13. Klasterman, I appreciate that you're pain free, but cure it is not. Every week now it seem someone is coming here claiming a cure. Being in remission is not cured. Sounds like your cycle stopped. Again I'm happy for you, but you're like the hundredth person that have claimed a cure and none have actually been proven a cure. CH is an abnormality in our brains, the hypothalamus. There really is no cure without making a change to the hypothalamus.j You'll find that claiming a cure when you only have 3 days pain free is going to put people off. Oh my gosh. I just read that article and I'm cracking up. (sorry, I'm still glad you're pain free, but it has nothing to do with some pressure point, or a plastic device you press on your torso.). Since both those links are selling a supposed cure... I'll have to remove the links. If you have links to something legitimate that isn't selling a cure, they are welcome. PFW, J
