MoxieGirl
OK, I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about coming this year. This is the third conference since I've been an active member of cluster busters, and would dearly love to meet you all. Also, I hail from neighbouring Iowa, about a 4 or 5 hour drive from Chicago. Haven't been home in 14 years, going back would be interesting. Will be making a final decision soon. MG
Professor_Tanaka
Booked. Note that if you have a corporate room rate it is typically better than the conference rate.
Psiloscribe
Looking forward to seeing you in September Professor. I hope you decide to come Moxie. We have someone coming from Norway and Scotland and I think we need to fill out the United Nations of clusters. Bob
eileenbunny
In case anyone hasn't seen it yet, here's an update on confirmed speakers: Dr. Robert Shapiro Dr. Brian McGeeney Dr. Emmanuelle Schindler Bruce Sewick Mitch Post Dr. Joanna Kempner Dr. Larry Schor Dr. George Urban Also, we have our scholarship application up and running and I'd post a link but I haven't posted on this message board enough to be allowed. Oops. Email me for the link if you need it! conference@clusterbusters.org Lastly, we are having hand cards made to promote the conference. If anyone would like to hand some out locally, please let me know and I will ship some your way. Email me at conference@clusterbusters.org. If you have a neurologist who would be amenable to putting a few in their waiting room or you know of others who might be interested in the conference, this would be a great way to let them know about it. Eibbor Shorg
Hi, can anyone here tell me which Dr. Robert Shapiro is attending? I googled his name and a few MD's came up? One of these doctors are only minutes from me in Springfield, MA and another in Burlington, VT. Also close enough. I would love to attend this event but living on SSDI and coming up with $1,000 for room and air, counting if I only eat what's provided at the conference and hotel continentals, isn't easy. Just did a further search and VT is the answer? Anyone here ever met with him? Thank you in advance, Rob
Bejeeber
That would be great if you have indeed found him and his practice is close enough to you. And you'll even have a back up - a super highly recommended headache specialist, Brian E McGeeney, MD, who many here swear by, and who regularly gives talks at CB conferences is in.......wait for it...........BOSTON. Which appears to be closer to you than Burlington.

Being what I have become, I am constantly day to day cycling on living or getting out? At this moment since discovering ClusterBusters, by freak accident, I am so thankfully overwhelmed. I am not used to communicating, never, with people like myself. I have Massachusetts state insurance so Dr. Shapiro is out though I contacted his office to possibly speak to him? I have to at least be on the patient registry for that I was told but my message will be sent to him? As for Dr. McGeeney, I used to get from my garage in Springfield, Ma, travel, park and walk to my most favorite seat in section 14 off the first base line at Fenway Paak (Park) in just shy of two hours so Dr. McGheeney, a fellow irishman, will hopefully get to be a life changer. I spoke with my neurologist yesterday, Friday, and his forever trust in my actions, before I thought of it, he asked if I needed a referal and is pleased to here hope in my voice and knowing this he said, "my vacation next week will be a bit better knowing your at least optimistic". Too much positive flow coming my way. More so in the past 48hrs than the past five years put together! I used to be at Fenway no less than every other week. Sometimes Fenway and The Garden to see the Boston Bruins if timing was right for either team to be in the playoffs. Thanks again Bejeebers. BTW its BAWSTON... just some simple humor is all. Thanks getting that out of me, Rob

Hummingbird
I would like to attend the conference, but would like to know if there is a scheduled time and date for each of the speakers. Also, I would like to share with members my experience of cluster free for almost a year, a few here and there, until recently when for the first time I decided to try tea method rather than chew dosing method. What could have gone wrong? It certainly tasted better, but now I'm worried I'm started a cycle.
aneurysmalex
I just attempted to reserve a room and they were booked. I am still coming though
eileenbunny
Yes, the block is full and the hotel is full. We are working to secure a block of rooms at another hotel. I got the contract for that today and we are reviewing it. We will resolve this quickly. There will be a free shuttle between the two hotels and we will make sure there is someone at the satellite hotel to answer any questions you may have throughout the conference. We will also have a hospitality suite at the conference hotel for your use throughout the weekend. I will update this as soon as I have more information. Also, we will be releasing the conference schedule as soon as it is final. As of this morning changes were still being made so I don't want to answer questions about it and have it change. CariJ
Spotlight on our conference speakers: Check back often to see who will be speaking and the topic of their talks! Dan Ervin Dan is a 57 year old man who has experienced chronic cluster headaches since the onset of the disorder 12 years ago. He has tried most every medication available and every surgical procedure short of deep brain stimulation. Known as “Hollywood†among the cluster headache community, Dan volunteered to host a National Geographic film crew from London to document his use of mushrooms to successfully treat cluster headaches. This year he is our awesome MC.
CariJ
Spotlight on our conference speakers: Dr. Joanna Kempner Joanna Kempner is an associate professor of sociology at Rutgers University and an affiliate of Rutgers’ Institute of Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. Her first book, Not Tonight: Migraine and the Politics of Gender and Health (Chicago 2014), asks why doctors, policymakers and employers don’t take headache disorders like migraine and cluster headache very seriously despite the fact that they are so prevalent, disabling, and costly. As we know, cluster headache is not a well-understood disorder. Dr. Kempner will discuss the history of cluster headache medicine, with an emphasis on how myths and misperceptions about cluster headache patients have slowed medical progress. Her talk will also address how patient movements, like Clusterbusters can improve medical research.

Psiloscribe
Hummingbird, on 05 Aug 2015 - 9:47 PM, said:I would like to attend the conference, but would like to know if there is a scheduled time and date for each of the speakers. We should be posting at least a tentative schedule very soon. Thursday evening is the Presidents Reception for everyone to say hello as they get into town. Friday and Saturday are both full of presentations from 9am to 5pm I don't know that I would book the trip based upon seeing one or two speakers on any particular day. Things have a way of changing at the last minute with doctors changing flights or asking to be moved because of changes in their schedule that they can not control. Hummingbird
Thank you Bob. I live in the area and look forward to hearing the speakers and meeting ch suffers as I feel very alone in dealing with the clusters. Family and friends are supportive but have no idea of the pain ch suffers endure.
