BG, Sorry to hear you've had such a bad go of it. Sending you some good vibes that things will get better for you. PFW, Jeff -
Ravyn, My insurance this past year also quit covering my O2. I was lucky to have a backup provider that doesn't backout quite as easily. I'd highly recommend welding O2. It's a complete game changer. Attacks are aborted, and aborted usually quite quickly. The key is getting on the O2 at the FIRST sign of your attack. Waiting significantly reduces the effectiveness of the O2. PFW, Jeff

Actually moisture content is an old difference between welding, aviation and medical O2 (before modern O2 concentrators / membrane separators were standardized). Welding and medical are exactly the same now (accept for the chain of custody of the cylinder / pressure vessel) It's now common to refill aircraft from welding O2 tanks. and the FAA doesn't bann it, so if the government (as picky as they are) says it's ok, well... It's ok... Because if they found so much as a microbe in welding O2 they'd bann the snot out of it for aircraft use. Jeff

I think I've blocked out many of the memories of my earlier cycles. I can say for the three cycles I've terminated with 'materials'. After each dose the attacks were softer and less frequent after each dose. Dropping to nothing after the third dose. PFW, Jeff

I think we're talking potatoe.... Potooootoe.. I can't hyperventalate at 15lpm simply because my lung capacity is too great. I only get a partial breath by the time the bag is empty. Ability to hyperventalate is based on each persons physiology. The question around Oxygen toxcicity is only for divers under greater than sea level pressures. There is no oxygen toxicity at sea level, it's a completely separate issue. Breathing O2 at sea level for too great of a length of time deplets your lungs of nitrogen, which is essential for keeping the alveoli in your lungs filled and functioning. (I breathe mixed gasses exclusively EAN or NITROX while diving) I posted a long thread on this subject some time back. Atelectasis is the condition where one actually suffocates on 100% O2. Very brief explanation: http://www.ccmtutorials.com/rs/oxygen/page10.htm Ever had to cough to clear your lungs after breathing 100% O2 for an extended period? That was mucus plugs your body created due to Nitrogen Washout. It's best to come off the O2 and cough (with a fresh air breath for some Nitrogen) if staying on O2 for extended periods beyond 20 mins. PFW, Jeff

The legality of what we do. A discussion.

Domino, 1eye, I'm definitely in agreement with your views. It's hard to comprehend a government that "protects me" by preventing me from taking a natural substance that doesn't harm anyone and has many well documented medical uses (some having been used for thousands of years!). Meanwhile that same premise of "protecting me" ends up putting billions of dollars in fewer and fewer peoples pockets. From prisons, to lawyers, to technology, to government contracts, to every supporting industry of the "War on Drugs" machine. It's an artifical money mover. Nothing more... If someone want's a drug, they'll get it, or something simliar. A sad thing I've seen first hand around here: People are turning more and more to artificial "cooked" drugs to get high. Some of these have serious physical and mental side effects. If people were allowed easy access to the more benign mood altering substances I think there would be less going to alternative more dangerous drugs. A kid in my old neighborhood literally fried his brain on one of the K2 drugs (Spice). His wiring is now seriously out of whack... If he had access to something like a beer or weed, then he'd likely not have ruined the rest of his life. While I don't advocate kids should have open access to anything that they're unprepared to manage. I also think sneaking a beer or hit of weed, is MUCH better than jumping right to Spice, C2 or similar alternative drugs. Someone I work with is going through hell at the moment because his son that just turned 20 and is in college just got caught with a beer. Apparently in VA they recently passed a law that a KID!! can get up to a year in prison for underage drinking.. WTF??? To me that makes no sense what so ever... I'm baffled at the laws that are passed now. So this kid now is at risk of having his life path ruined or seriously imparied because of something, I have no doubt EVERY SINGLE law maker did when they were underage. Snuck a drink... This KID is 20 and isn't deemed old enough by law to be responsible enough to drink, and yet he's old enough to go to jail???... wow.. -

Ajax, PFW! Hope all went well! Jeff -
All, I've been contemplating posting a similar thread recently. I've noticed over the last 12 years or so that my short term memory has gotten much worse. It's definitely worse around my cycles. I talked to my neurologist about it about 10 years ago. She had no clue. With the last cycle that ended recently I noticed the short term memory loss fairly significantly. This started LONG before starting the fungus so I'm 100% confident it has nothing to do with the fungus but is CH or other related. Started seeing a new neurologist at the VA last week. He said my MRI was clear accept he said he could tell that I was a long term headache sufferer. (Never heard that from anyone before just from an MRI). I asked him how he could tell. He said the arteries in my brain have thickening in the walls, that show up very clearly in the MRI images. I asked about memory loss and he said it's common to have short term memory loss with thickening of the arteries in the brain. He didn't elaborate any more, but I'm seeing him again in 2 weeks. I plan on asking a gazzilion questions about memory loss at that time. (if I remember. ha ha ha...) PFW, Jeff

Jessica, In the past there's been ample supplies of O2 available for use. Just bring your own mask (maybe regulator). You should come. These people are a trip.. ROFL... ;P Last year was my first year and I hope to make every annual get together in the future. A really fun and genuine group of people CH'ers are... Jeff
