All, So the VA presribed me this stuff Amitriptyline HCL today for my clusters. I looked the side effects up online. I was horrified of all the potential side effects. I drew the line at "Breast Swelling in Men or Women"... OK, NOT cool on a guy... Anybody have any experience with this stuff? It seems to be primarily an anti depressant. ok, continuing to read. It might be safe. http://www.drugs.com/amitriptyline.html Says the normal oral dose is 25 to 100 mg per day. My script is for 10mg (and is exactly what the above website says for migraines) Doc said I could take half a pill to start if I wanted. Think I'll do that. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone, This is the second time I allowed life to stop my regular preventative dose. The event that I had on Wed may well have still triggered my CH. I'll never miss my regular dose again. I was trying to stretch the doses out. It's been nearly 3 months since my last preventative dose. So I know not to go one minute longer than 2 months between doses again. EVER... Again... One good item is I went to the VA today for my CH. It's been 15 years since I went (not good experiences my prior visits, so I never wanted to go back). They don't have an opening to see the neurologist for a week. Due to lack of sleep etc. etc. etc. they sent me to the shrink... Good news. She actually was very familiar with CH because her husband has it (WOW, moment). He was in a 6 year remision and started a new cycle just last week. About the same time mine started. She went through the entire list of drugs we all know very well. She named two I've not taken before (I REALLY dont't want to take them, but might be the best option for me at the moment). Due to being fuzzy I don't remember the names. I'm going back this afternoon to pickup the one she recommended. I'll post a different thread for feedback when I get the name. It's supposed to treat CH, sleep issues and depression. If it works great! but I only plan on taking it long enough to be able to bust again. I asked what the side effects were. Needless to say they're Looooong... They sounded typical for an SSRI (Don't know if it's an SSRI though). I have to do my homework before I take the first one. Another good note, is I should be able to start getting my O2 from the VA from now on. The doctor prepared me that it's going to be difficult to get it though. He said neurology was unable to write scripts for O2 (at all) that O2 could only be written from cardiology, but I'm perfectly healthy heart wise. Anyway he prepared me that it's not going to be easy to get the O2, but they'll eventually be able to get through the gov red tape. Thanks for the kind thoughts and support from everyone. PFW, Jeff

hi my friends, Knew I was up for my regular preventative dose, recently but didn't have the sitter or situation to dose. Had a bit of an emotional train hit me Wed last week. And my CH came back overnight. Been getting less and less sleep each night. I've never tried melatonin so bought some 3 days ago (at 3am walgreens). Stuff doesn't work at all for me. I'm taking 20mg a night and getting hit maybe a few minutes to 30 minutes after falling asleep. Can't dose as I'm far from the right mindset, setting, nor sitter... one and a half 'sorta' hours of sleep tonight. Two two three the night before, and the night before. Can't eat. Lost 12 pounds since Wed already. O2 is keeping the kips from spiking, but taking a long time to work for some reason (1 hour or so) kinna crashing. jeff

Spiny, Since I'm a diver, I prefer the newer "Sugar Scoop" transom. Works just like a regular dive boat for diving off a sailboat. My baby... Hunter 340. She's a little slow on a port tack for some reason, but I don't hold it against her. All the comforts of home, right down to a fridge stove and hot / cold running water (with a shower on the transom for the freedom of offshore showers Jeff

I have to air what might be an obvious question. Who in their right mind would take a sailboat that size out in the open ocean during a hurricane???? Did no one on board question the sanity of the person saying... yea... We'll have plenty O' wind... WTH.... [smiley=cry.gif] Personally, I never take the sailboat out if the wind is supposed to gust over 18 knots. Safety is #1 when dealing with mother nature. Jeff

Is There a Time Limit For RC Seed Soaking?
ThatHurtsMyHead replied to ob1kanobee's topic in General Board
OB1, To properly answer your question there's a lot of variables to consider. firstly being the mixture becomes more noxious... by an order of magnitude for ever hour left soaking over the 2 hour recommended time. QUITE vile after just 6 hours. Secondly if it's been exposed to light it's possible the LSA has been destroyed. LSA quickly breaks down when exposed to light. In the seeds it's not a problem, but once it's been absorbed in the water light easily penetrates the water and destroys it. The soak should always be done cold and in a dark fridge preferably. For ease and accuracy, I'd recommend starting with fresh seeds. PFW, Jeff -
Yammy, I'm sending you good thoughts for some PF time.  Don't take NO for an answer from the doc (or neurologist) for the Oxygen prescription. Feel free to request they consult their OWN medical journals for how effective O2 is and that it's been used for over 30 years for CH (Successfully!). It has NO side effects and is cheap! PFW, Jeff

Dan, Cheers my friend! Jeff

Purple, Glad you had lots of pain free time!! Makes me feel good everytime I read someone has PF time Might want to do the maintenance doses. They really work.. Once it comes back, it's harder to bannish it than doing the maintenance doses. PFW, Jeff

In other words: Politicians don't care about people committing suicide for a condition that's treatable. They had rather something they don't understand and are afraid of, be banned.... At times, it seems a sad society we live in. I'd put money on it, Coffee kills more people each year than mushrooms..... Jeff

All, I'm sitting here getting some tasks organized for work and reflecting on all the people I met at the conference. Listening to "The Surface of the Sun" by John Murphy, followed by "All To Heaven / A Particularly Beautiful Day" by John Murphy. Everything feels particularly nice today. If anyone hasn't heard those pieces, I encourage you to pull them up on GrooveShark.com or another music site. You won't regret it... (Though admittedly the first 1:45 they could have left off "All to Heaven", it's a bit chaotic) The end is peaceful though. "The Surface of the Sun" is my single favorite piece of music I've ever heard. I listen to it at least once nearly every day. Have a great day!, Jeff

Lenny, No offense taken at all. I appreciate and agree with your insight. Whatever happens, happens. Definitely glad I went to Vegas this year. Observing some of the relationship dynamics was a learning experience. PFW, Jeff
