discussion on psychedelic research
Bejeeber replied to shocked's topic in Advocacy, Events and Conferences
How sad that he approached the UK cluster support group (which must be OUCH UK) about a BOL study and they said "oh we couldn't possibly support research using an illegal drug". What kind of bleeding idiots are these OUCH UK arseholes?! My God, do these tossers have crumpets lodged up their bums or something? (I'm of english ancestry so I like to think I have license to say such things). I see 2 disturbing things here right off the bat: 1) OUCH UK is run by complete unadulterated d***heads 2) Professor Nutt didn't think to approach a US group (or maybe he had to stay within the bounds of the UK). OUCH US, when they were still in operation, would have enthusiastically supported a study, as obviously would clusterbusters and likely ch.com too.. Just to make my position perfectly clear: BUGGER OFF, OUCH UK. (this is strictly directed to the wankers running OUCH UK, doing their deranged utmost to suppress the knowledge of, and scientific research on BOL, the most promising CH preventative with the least side effects to date. Not directed towards the rank and file members there, whom I pray can overthrow the current horrifically misguided regime ASAP). -
AMEN Spiny!!

Check this out !! who knows ?? its from CNN

Ain't that the truth - it's both a shame and utter insanity IMO. And when they routinely feed antibiotic and hormone type drugs to dairy cows it's udder insanity. Agreed with that too. -
Personally I think it's not OK to be inflicting pain on animals in order to perform experiments, but I'm glad to see that what a bunch of us here have found to be true is now being proven in studies: Vit M can be astoundingly effective at wiping out PTSD in a jiffy. And I mean toot sweet. 8-)

And Brew was a CHRONIC CH'er(!).
-
I dunno, my impression is that for some of us they do just plain become more intense over the decades. I try not to say that too often, so as not to scare younger CH'ers about what the future could hold. With the advent of busting etc. I think they'll fare much better with treating these buggers.

As far as I've seen, seratonin syndrome is a theoretical risk in this scenario of SPUT combined with triptan, one that I believe at least one guru here (Ricardo) has disregarded. I believe he'll inject imitrex to abort a CH attack right during a high dose M bust, with no ill effects. That's the way I remember it anyhoo. Somebody correct ME if I am wrong!!!!!!! If it was me, this long after having taken a Relpax, I don't think I'd be too concerned about any pesky seratonin syndrome with just a lil' ol' SPUT. 8-)
-
Indeed it can be, and it can be considered PTSD. If you haven't run across discussion of it yet Ann, vitamin M fortunately tends to be very powerfully effective for long term relief from PTSD.
-
I believe the reference to natural meds for migraine is in fact a reference to busting. From what I've seen here, based on reports from headbangers like yourself who have a history of both frequent migraines and CH, busting can be even MORE immediately effective at snuffing out migraines than it is for clusters - and it's pretty darn tootin' effective for clusters!
-
YES! (agreed with Spiny) From what I've seen, a common scenario with busting whle on verap is the busting will be effective to a degree, then when the CH is tamed enough and you're off the verap, the busting can really get in there and do it's work 100%. Sorry and horrified to hear of your high cycle straight from hell. Increased intensity as the decades go by is one of the dirtiest tricks the beast has up his sleeve IMO, but when the O2 and triptans stop working that's just way past unspeakable - I can see exactly why you're inspired to bust, brain dead dainbread! Really hoping it'll bring some major relief. (You're probably already well aware that unlike verap, triptans are major busting blockers, and tend to really spoil the party)
-
Hey Sergi, I've seen a couple headbangers report even more exaggerated cuckoo-ness in a post-busting attack, or even during busting, where they had all the eye/nose symptoms of a K10 but with ZERO pain whatsoever. So your attack was weird but there have been even weirder.Â
-
Why yes, yes you do (IMO). Glad you're getting some delivered toot sweet - and heck those tranceplants seeds may still come in handy for subsequent maintenance bustings or something anyway.
-
Norm, that 50 to start sounds like a good dose to me, and I'm agreed with all the excellento advice TO and CHf have slapped upon you here. 8-)

That's cool Terry. 8-) [smiley=thumbup.gif] -
HA! That is probably NOT a bad idea. ;D From my limited experience, there doesn't seem to be as much of that lovely combo of arrogance and ignorance in the vet profession as can be found in some of the people doctors...? Well at least your animals are in good hands. :-/ Full blown cycle??!! AUGHHH. can't blame ya for envelope pushage. :'( Dam I hope that O2 is kicking in. :o

WOW.     [smiley=vrolijk_1.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Oh NOOoooOO - that elevation change is one of your worst triggers!!! :o I know your upcoming down/up mountain trip must be for some absolutely essential thing like stitches removal - otherwise I can't imagine you taking that trip right now. Dammit. > :'( This sux. :'(

That part ROCKS!!  8-) Lordy that must be a nice breather for you MG. [smiley=thumbup.gif] I'm familiar with those sorta conversations where you're just trying to mind your own biz and someone close to ya decides to engage you with an entirely false statement about your CH. Those conversations suck.Â

What a rare opportunity to offer ideas to CHf! I'm jumping on this one! Apparently there is such a thing as a sunburn like ice pack burn, which is actually a bit of frostbite. Maximum 20 minutes is recommended for an ice pack. I found some discussion here: "..ice pack 'burns'...they look like sunburns and feel warm to the touch still...HOURS later...and they are a deep red, like a sunburn and painful.." http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080821195210AApVDyd

I'll just pipe in with a question about the O2: Do you know if it is currently working for him, and if not, has he tried very high flow 100% O2, with a specialized non-rebreather mask (or ideally a demand valve system)? If he hasn't tried this yet, I'm hoping it might help him get through a detox.....
-
Good point Purple, so I'm gong to back away from that idea until otherwise notified. :-[ :-?
-
Some headbangers have reported that taking a tranquilizer such as valium or xanax with it [Edit: see follow up post] - or having one handy just in case - can help with any scariness / anxiety, and it hasn't impacted the effectiveness of their busts. Actually I believe the discussion I've seen on that has been in regard to Vit M, so I guess I'm just ASSuming it would pertain to paper too.
-
Oh jeez he was young. I never met or had contact with him, but am indebted along with so many other CH'ers to him, and am shocked and saddened to hear of this tragic loss.
-
Oh, Doh! My attempt at comprehension of the busting timeline was all garbled and krap, sorry.
