The lengths to which CH'ers are willing to go.....
Bejeeber replied to Dallas Denny's topic in General Board
As I read over the directions for making the brew from the dry herbs purchased on Ebay, I see there are additional shopping trips, etc. required and some waiting around for things to ferment. I wish there was an already prepared and just ready to drink brew with great reviews available on Ebay! The one liquid version I've found online is here: http://www.natural-safe-hormones.com/mama_juana.html The lady who runs the site seems like she's on the level and dedicated to helping the native people who harvest the herbs, but with no reviews of her mamajuana available it's a bit of a tuffer call to make a purchase there (in my mind at least).....? -

Still Astounding, with a capital A. Also looking forward to reports on the results of anyone else's investigations, definitely including Ricardo's, since my impression is we're talking about one helluva stubborn case of chronic CH there, another one that would be extremely unlikely to completely succumb to any sort of placebo effect. -
It may be worth noting at this point that bromocriptine is not 2-Bromo-LSD (BOL-148), which we've discussed so much here and wished for, and which I believe is the bromo you were referring to, MG. Bromocriptine is another one of the LSD derivatives, just as ergotamine, methysergide, etc. are.

Well it sounds like you're ready for the O2 big leagues (dammit!), like so many other CH'ers. I know in high cycle (pre-vit M busting) I would have to hit it at 45 LPM 100% O2, but it sure worked, when the wimpy 15 LPM rebreather had completely ceased doing so. The alcohol raised an alarm for me too with the Mama Juana, but if we see more like RazorPP reporting that it somehow didn't trigger the usual alcohol induced attack from hell, that'll definitely be encouraging!
-
Well isn't that just typical, for the beast to change his game. The scenario where the capsaicin and O2 fail after they had worked before is one that is personally familiar to me, but I found that high flow 100% O2 would remain effective when the old fashioned low flow rebreather baloney stopped working (sorry SOS, I'm forgetting whether you've already adopted the high flow 100% O2?). When you say RV I figure it's in reference to Rivea Corymbosa, often abbreviated as RC. A bunch of us have found that if the seeds give out, switching to the ol' vitamin M (or paper) will work a treat. Or if you want to consider being a cutting edge frontiersman and trying some (harmless, for all I know) herbs that have just burst upon the scene and sent the first 2 hard core long time chronics who've tried them immediately into remission, maybe you oughta check out the the Mama Juana thread: https://www.clusterheadaches.com/cb/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1391355305

You just know that at one point someone who has had it up to here and then some with the beast is going to go double nuclear on him and wash down their vitamin M (or paper) with heaping guzzle loads of the Mama Juana. I'm not suggesting anyone take this double whammy approach (well not yet anyway), I'm just imagining that it could be inevitable that someone will give it a shot (and hopefully report back). ;D I have a bottle of the 'ol Mama J on order from that Ebay link BTW. 8-) -
Ooh. That was good! Cindy you McRAWK!! 8-) Thank you. (and thanks tommyd for posting this)

I feel confident in saying no, the mushrooms in local food stores can not help you out. Psilocybin mushrooms are a very particular type of mushroom that are not sold as a food - in fact they are known to be a powerful hallucinogen, somewhat like LSD, hence the listing of psilocybin as a schedule I drug under the United Nations 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances. They also don't look like the common food mushrooms sold in stores that you supplied the photo of. I hope you find a good solution mjit, while being very careful and aware of what's legal or not, and what any risks/penalties would be.
-
Well dun. [smiley=thumbup.gif]
-
Sorry, but I very much doubt they would have the correct spores. :'( A more proper name for "Magic" mushrooms is psilocybin mushrooms, of which there are various strains. Here in the US they grow wild and very plentifully on cow droppings in cow pastures. As far as I've seen, they're pretty much illegal to possess everywhere except the Netherlands and Tortola, British Virgin Islands. One person in the US just reported being able to successfully order psilocybin truffles from the Netherlands online. It sounds like there could be a very serious risk of getting in trouble with the law doing that though....?
-
mjit, you gotta watch this internationally aired Nat Geo segment on the subject, featuring one of our forum members, Dan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFuL7pcShDk Also: Yep, for instance, many CH'ers in the US just legally order RC seeds online from one of the many vendors out there (tranceplants.com would be one of them), or legally order psilocybin mushroom spores and then (illegally) grow mushrooms. We've heard from various CH'ers in the Netherlands that they can legally purchase and ingest psilocybin truffles, which they have done with some impressive success shutting down their CH cycles. And finally here's a Newsweek article on busting that I think is a good, engaging, easy to follow, interesting read: http://www.newsweek.com/treating-cluster-headaches-psychedelic-drugs-81473

I should've provided more detail and worded that more clearly. Here in the US melatonin is sold in all manner of dosage strengths, with 3mg being fairly common, 10 mg not so common. So the CH'ers who I've seen report getting up into the 20 mg range were typically gradually bumping up from a starting dose of 9 mg in 3 mg increments, only getting as high as 18mg or 21mg if the 12mg or 15mg doses they tried on the way there still weren't working.
-
Last time I looked into it, CH'ers were finding a dose around your 10 mg at bedtime to be a good starting one. If it doesn't do anything, others have reported bumping it all the way up into Spiny's 20mg range was required before they started seeing results for night time attacks. During my last full blown cycle I think I tried around 9 mg with no results. At that time I didn't know up to 20 mg would be worth trying, so I didn't get that far into the experiment.

Hmmm...based on a true story, Best Actor (Matthew McConaughey) and Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes....I'm definitely gonna watch it - thanks MG.

Well this is kinda exciting to have a whole new thang under investigation, thanks to DD, Didgens and CHf. Ricardo, the herb specific info and bit of healthy skepticism are also appreciated. I know I'll be following this, (and whether there will be a work around for the alcohol content) with real interest. -
The MJ just so clearly sounds like the obvious least of all evils for pain relief for you, so how could anyone not agree that pure insanity reigns when you are deprived of it while being prescribed opiates instead (??!!). I suppose moving to Colorado is not an option for you, so I guess I'll just hope you're in a state that will follow suit - or at least legalize medical marijuana - sooner than later. Meanwhile maybe something like the legal in all 50 states high CBD hemp oil might've been helpful, and likely wouldn't cause the flunking of a urine test, but I guess since it takes so much hemp oil to produce the high CBD extract, the stuff I've seen so far is crazy expensive, so um yeah, probably forget that too. This is when I can entirely relate to Dumpstaphunk's song Livin' in a World Gone Mad. :'(

Jeez that sounds horrible Tom, sorry to hear of your predicament. In my recent bit of searching online I have seen some claims that CBD rich marijuana, or concentrated CBD hemp oil, can give people with severe nerve pain relief when opiates don't, so I'm not surprised to hear of your results with it. The eye socket part yes, but otherwise no (the trigeminal pain can radiate into the cheek area for some CH'ers, but not rear of skull). I wish I knew whether the busting, O2, etc. we CH'ers do could help with your condition - has it been diagnosed by a genuine headache specialist? We find that ordinary neurologists and other doctors, unless they've done lots of headache disorder independent study (which would be unusual), are typically dangerous for us to consult with, as they don't have adequate training/knowledge at all. [Edit: I wish you lived in Colorado - check out this bit from http://cbdfreeforall.org/about/free-for-all: "CBD Free For All is a project that has risen out of the passage of Ammendment 64. Adults in Colorado are now allowed to cultivate up to 6 cannabis plants (3 flowering). With the passing of the new law, this project's goal is to distrubute FREE high-CBD cannabis clones/cuttings to any adult in Colorado who wishes to grow it for their own health."]

I like the sound o' that. Sold. Now adopting said outlook.

Plus it says he's the Marlboro Man! Sorry. Apparently I have ZERO shame.
-
Thanks - I've actually gotten through the cannabinoids first half of that, and searching out info online for a relative who suffers from severe nerve pain, I eventually realized that Cannabidiol (as a concentrated form of high CBD-rich hemp oil), being 100% non psychoactive, is fully legal and available for purchase (even on Amazon.com!), with some preliminary positive user reviews regarding it's effectiveness for severe pain. Well supposedly those reviews came from users, not the vendor. This: http://cbdgum.networkofhemp.com/order-cbd/rsho-high-cbd-hemp-oils/ ...is the most potent Cannabidiol I've seen for purchase online so far, and in my hasty enthusiasm, I ordered some for the relative with the nerve pain, having read the wrong description, thinking "it's expensive, but hey it's 2 months worth", only to realize too late it was only 3 DAYS worth. DOH. I intend to post here about results if there are any that are pertinent. I do think it's cool that that this particular stuff is devoid of THC [Edit: it actually contains 1% THC], but am discouraged by how ungodly expensive it actually is.

I don't know what to say... :-? :-? ....except it's time for a round of Mama Juana for all CB members! ;D . It also makes me wonder whether there is a reasonable way to evaporate the alcohol out of concoctions such as this...? -
Interesting article indeed - thanks. I too find the CBD stuff to be particularly interesting: "Recently, research has shown CBD to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties without the psychoactive effects (the "high" or "stoned" feeling) that THC provies"
-
I too have seen reports over the years, and sometimes (guys at least) say it's the, um, *happy ending* that can stop the CH. Me neither - and I wouldn't have any faith that it would work, as typically the hopes for aborting an attack with exercise revolve around catching it right at onset before it has ramped up fully, and doing all out extreme sprint 'til you drop type exercise that couldn't be sustained for anything close to a half an hour anyway.
