  1. Â 2 things immediately come to mind: 1) That completely sux 2) That entirely blows :'(
  2. Hey uncBerd What they said. 8-) You just got replied to by 3 fabuliciously well informed types in a row, and when you're fortunate enough to have CHfather start dishing out info for you, rest assured there's always gold in them thar hyperlinks! Plus, Cool. Well 100% would be cooler, but just wanna verify that you're up to speed on the partial dose injection approach that revolutionizes the imitrex experience for many a headbanger: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/imitrex.html You're not alone with that superstition behavior. ;D Some of us continue to hang around when out of cycle, or when our family member CH'ers are out of cycle, but we're insane unusual in that regard. Those meds are brand spankin' new by my standards! Yep the "official" expiration dates for imitrex are widely considered to be chock full of baloney.
  3. Hi timmyy, Since the O2 and the mushrooms serve different, but complementary purposes (the O2 is for aborting impending attacks, while the mushrooms are for preventing attacks altogether), a lot of us have successfully employed them both in a dual pronged strategy. They can make a great combo. 8-) The best case scenario involves using O2 for aborting attacks while detoxing from meds, then not even needing O2 anymore after mushrooms have sent the CH into remission. Remission, sweet remission is of course what we're hoping for you.Â
  4. All I can think to say about that is WTF??!! What a rip off. > Fingers crossed that the "Over the lips, past the gums, look out you f***ing beast idiot, here mamjuana comes" counter attack will conk your dragon a good one on the noggin and we'll see how he likes it for a change.
  5. Ugh that seems like it sums the situation up pretty bluntly but accurately. :'( At this point, drawing from memorable Ricardo and Jeff quotes, this topic could be retitled "Patience and a buttload of hallucinogens vs surgeons just wanting to cut on peoples brains for money"
  6. Hi Robert, I've seen plenty of other CH'ers over the years report onset following a head injury, so as you may know, you're definitely not alone there. Glad to see our preeminent CHfather is right on the case with his trademark condensed and spot on advice pointing to the most effective treatments.
  7. What Jeff said about apologies, ashmologies. ;D
  8. Sorry, coulda picked a better time to whip out some attempted pseudo tuff love. But not knowing when to shut the crappity smack up already, and having the distance of the Atlantic ocean to protect me from a vigorous and possibly well deserved face slapping , I'll close with this attempted zinger: When someone (like MG) has said "if I get to hungry, my body goes into panic mode. I can't think straight, I am incapable of making a decision, even about what to eat.", it reminds me of a certain low blood sugar related state, which can be called hypo-whatever, but is a real thing that a certain percentage of the non-diabetic population experiences, and for which (DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?) tests/drugs/doctors may have little to nothing to offer. Glad to hear your Snicker barring is actually rare these days BTW. Jeez now I realize I coulda skipped launching into the entire misguided lecture series. ;D I'm still finding DrTy2's mention of low blood pressure intriguing. Of course there's often a good natural way to treat this sorta stuff, and besides pickles 8-), I'm recalling that licorice root is known as an effective treatment for low blood pressure...
  9. Interesting - I saw some TV thingy once where low blood pressure patients were supposedly stabilizing their blood pressure by eating pickles (?!). And MG it has been long established that you have all the signs of being hypoglycemic (as am I) so ya think maybe it's time to get a wee bit smarter perhaps about eating ultra sugary crap like Snickers that spike the blood sugar level way back up in a real jiffy (weeeee!) but correspondingly tend to then induce a low blood sugar rebound (BOOO!) ? The nuts in there are good. It would be pretty basic common sense-ish for a hypoglycemic who has been lectured about this before to eat nuts but skip the honkloads of poison sugar. <End of tuff love lecture>
  10. I'm sorry you were wrongly prescribed that, as so many CH'ers still are. 10 LPM with nasal canula is just pathetically ineffective for a large number of us, and it is not by any stretch of the imagination high flow 100% O2. The good news is there's a very good chance O2 could still work for you if administered effectively. So yay for that.Â
  11. Doh! Alright so much for my oh so clever guesswork. I have to wonder if it's just a matter of consuming enough truffles (and there's one strain that's particularly strong - I wish I could remember it's name) in order to get to the same trip level (and therefore the same effectiveness) as with mushrooms.....? Sorry to be a pest, but did you try high flow, 100% O2? The outmoded, but still widely attempted low flow rebreather manner of administering O2 is weak. A joke. Doesn't work for me and countless others. 100% / High flow is way more effective.
  12. Hi timmyy from the Netherlands . OK I'm just guessing about the Netherlands part since I know that's where psilocybin truffles are legal but mushrooms aren't. Happy to report truffles have indeed been good enough for others who have tried them. Psilocybin does work for the majority of CH'ers (and there have been some good reports from migraineurs too), so I'm not sure that at this point you should even be concerning yourself with how many times you bust before giving up. Fortunately it's common to get an indicator with the very first bust that things are improving, or at least starting to change. 8-)
  13. Hey Tig, good to hear from ya. A remission that lasts a couple years or more is fortunately pretty common for an episodic after 20 years or so with CH (as are the unfortunate extended bouts when in cycle, and the increased intensity). [Edit: DOH I just came back and realized I went all Deja Vu on y'all here, as I had made the same observaton in this very thread a week earlier]. Here's to some continued really extended remission time for you (we can always even hope for complete burnout, but I'm of the mind we should remain armed to the teeth with preventives / abortives for a quick response counter offensive in case a surprise attack comes our way). If it does come back at one point, now that you're hanging around here, I bet you'll pick up some powerful ways to deal with it. 8-)
  14. Hi SOS, I sent a PM to you about imitrex pills, etc. before I saw there was this message board topic here, so what the heck, I'll go ahead and post the pills part here too for public consumption: - there's that trick that some CH'ers report where if you're expecting an attack at a certain time of night you take the ordinarily too slow acting imitrex pill one hour before, and it can prevent it from happening.....works especially well for those who are routinely hit about one hour after going to sleep. Also, I believe some have experimented with crushing pills or something to get them to work faster, maybe someone will chime in about that sorta thing.
  15. Super interesting, this is.
  16. Well that sounds like a common, familiar (but not guaranteed!) pattern for a long time CH'er, what with the remissions becoming longer, but when the beast does show up again, he decides to hang around longer and with increased ferocity. You sure sound like a prime candidate for busting. With any luck you won't have to find out though for another 5 or more years, with the remissions continuing to extend. Heck in 5 years the promised future will be here and we'll all be able to just hop in our hovercrafts or strap on our jet packs and pick up some vitamin M at the corner store. ;D If I go looking for side effects I hit WebMD, Mayo, etc., but I try not to look at them because they are a real downer , and I hope my prescription drug days can just be over anyways. I imagine you're well aware that prednisone is the mutha of all the horrible permanent side effect bad guys (if it has been taken at high doses for a duration longer than the standard short burst). I can attest to it's ability to mess with an immune system mightily, and others here can show you their hip replacement scars. :'(
  17. Now that you mention it, I have some of that Russian potato booze laying about here, too, and wouldn't mind using it instead of rum. Does anyone know of a reason why the actual rum type of hard liquor might be important to use vs vodka?
  18. Oh....looks like I need to go back and edit my post above to include you with Arizona and Hawaii! Hmmm if enough of us personally rebelled like that it could force a universal abolishment of the evil and insane "spring forward". 8-)
  19. DST is basically the stupidest idea ever, even if it didn't unleash the beast on the CH'ers of the world. WHY are we still doing this daylight savings time utter BS??!! Arizona and Hawaii [and POTTER] have abolished it, so what are the rest of us waiting for? Can I get an amen?!
  20. While CHf is strapping on his flak jacket, I think it's interesting to note how long this mamajuana goes back in native culture (several thousand years, like the use of RC, mushrooms, etc.,) without the alcohol component for much of it's history. I guess whether the original non-alcoholic version could still be effective for CH would be another of the bazillion and three things we're coming up with here to test out. I'll paste some background info below (copied from this site): http://www.natural-safe-hormones.com/mama_juana.html "This herbal combo has several thousand years of use in the native culture. The traditional use of this tonic combination takes several forms. About half use it as tea. About a quarter of the use is as tincture made with the local rum. (This is the form when the herbs are used as an aphrodisiac: the men commonly drink several shot glasses at a time.) The third way of using these herbs is to ferment them in water with sugar or honey. This "mabi" is sold from vendors carts like soda pop." Meanwhile I'll go out on a limb and predict not much flak will be received at ch.com. 8-)
  21. Herbal combinations are definitely known to work synergistically, so I wouldn't be surprised if one single herb in there is NOT the "cure". I'm also not exactly holding my breath for an explanation via current medical science of exactly how or why mamajuana works, as last time I checked, the state of the science isn't yet quite up to understanding or explaining everything a single herb will do, let alone the needle in haystack scenario DrTy2 mentions regarding herbal combinations. Still, that would be an interesting experiment to split out each herb - several major universities should be launching extensive mamajuana studies right now. Still not holding breath. ;D
  22. It's great to have you and your pharmacological expertise here DrTy2, and I too am very happy to hear how well the busting is working for you so far with this cycle.
  23. Ooh, still AWESOME after all these weeks. I've got me eyes glued to this thread.
