Yeah let's go with the plan A of it not being bad! 8-) It will be a fine day indeed when you get past all this dam bullsh** balogna baloney.Â

This NY Times article that made it to the NYT headline stories that show up in my Google home page is about how psychedelic drugs can help patients face death, and it also mentions use of psychedelics for treatment of other conditions, including CH: "Grob and his colleagues are part of a resurgence of scientific interest in the healing power of psychedelics. Michael Mithoefer, for instance, has shown that MDMA is an effective treatment for severe P.T.S.D. Halpern has examined case studies of people with cluster headaches who took LSD and reported their symptoms greatly diminished. And psychedelics have been recently examined as treatment for alcoholism and other addictions." It's nice to be seeing more and more of this sorta thing in the mass media. 8-)

I'm not sure of the science on this, and I know some have been concerned that unnecessarily high starting doses of RC are recommended by responders here, but I can tell ya I'm never in any mood for proceeding cautiously with counter attacking the beast, and I go for at least 50 seeds. To me, taking 50 RC seeds is NOTHING compared to something like taking 1.5g of mushrooms which is something I seriously brace myself for. Yep, both tend to be considered to be fine with busting. Please get yerself some high flow 100% O2 from a welding supply place if necessary. It's important that you do this yesterday. ;D 5 days oughta be fine. Whether you should stop, well IMO that question is a tuffy (for the same reasons Pixie laid out). :-?

We've been thinking about you too Ting. I believe you're one of CB's most accomplished *graduates*. Best of luck when you go kick some royal booty at that CrossFit Challenge.  ;D

UGH2. :'( For the record though, I'm with Kymera in the never ceasing to be amazed and entertained dept.Â
-
Oh Lordy, that is some seriously unhealthy diet action going on over there, but those people have a sense of humor I have to admit. ;D Anyplace where you find a topic titled "I just deep fried a f**king pop tart!".... :D
-
UGH. Man I sure hope you're in and outa there in as much of a jiffy as possible, and I seriously mean toot sweet! Please, let there be a good alternative to more fecking shunt surgery. :-?
-
I hope your doc is a one in a million rare bird - my understanding is that doctors don't receive any training in herbal remedies and simply know nothing about them unless they've taken on independent study. :-?
-
Well that's the fecking spirit! [smiley=thumbup.gif] Don'tcha just LOVE it though when there's that added bonus of head and chest cold and work requiring the A game?  Fingers crossed so vigorously for a stake thru heart of beast that I think one may have just snapped off. Boy the side benefits of prednisone are just snazzEE aren't they? Well at least it still has you at the top of your game in the gallows humor dept. ;D Your continued battering sux at the highest magnitude of blowing, BlueB, no 2 bones about it.   :'( glad you're still giving 'er hell, and lordy there'll have to be a big shindig of a party here when you put that beast DOWN.Â

Yes IMO. I've seen this subject discussed many times amongst long time CH'ers and for those who've looked into it and tried it there's a pretty wide consensus that it's fine. I've used 7 year old imitrex injections before (!!). Not recommending that, but it actually worked. 2-3 years old is nuthin' in my book. Just remember that you'll have to be off the imitrex for a good 5 days before busting will be effective for ya.

The beast loves him some Poptarts (??!!) I guess.Â

Thanks for zee link Renee. I don't mean this as nit picking of the article, the mention of 80% of CH'ers being male just reminded me that this is a widely accepted statistic that I believe is very likely a load of baloney. WE KNOW DOCTORS ROUTINELY REFUSE TO DIAGNOSE FEMALES WITH CH, so why would we buy into this self fulfilling 80% statistic as they do? I fear there are plenty of females out there with CH unable to get a diagnosis, not knowing what they have, because of this.

Wow - the very public efforts and contributions of Bob Wold, Dan/Hipshot et al continue to seriously get the word out!! I think Kaboom's tagline applies here: THE POWER OF A FEW Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." What Jeff said! Sorry to hear of the most unwelcome visit. :'( Thank gawsh you're already guiding him to max relief.

Nice stuff Scott! So you're the right channel electric geetar picker? 8-) I do believe I detected her hollering "un-fecking-believable!" at one point. ;D

Lordy this topic started off with some colorful prose - whether or not sleep deprivation is a factor, it makes for some unique reading .

Just remember it's proper etiquette to send him a formal invitation:

Hey BlueB, Oh jeez that's tremendously fusterclucked what you (and Brew!) are going through right now. :'( Hey ya remember when Lobster posted about his "imitrex math" on CH.com where he figures out how to rig up imitrex injections in a "being bad with math can kill you" sort of way that nonetheless brings his cost down to $.50 per abort ? This is not recommended considering how dangerous an error could be, but for the record, here are a couple of those posts: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1311513649 http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1313671275 And some details I had copied down at the time that I'm not finding online anymore: A bottle of Suminat Nasal is 10x 20mg doses. 200mg in 1ml of fluid total. In reality it has more like 1.3 or 1.4ml, which is free extra.  So first I put all 1ml (or 1.4ml) of Suminat into a 10ml syringe. That is basically my holding tank. When I mix up a batch I use .2ml of Suminat with 3.13ml of saline. That yields 3.33ml of solution, which is equivalent to 6.6 .5ml vials of Imitrex. I mix this up also in a 10ml syringe. That gives you the same ratio as a vial. I load my needles directly from the syringe, typically 4 or 5 at a time. The 10ml syringes I use to hold the solution have the lockable cap. I try to squeeze out all the air to keep oxygen damage to a minimum. So.... out of 1 bottle of Suminat Nasal I get 5-7 batches, which each yield 6.66 vials. That is 33 to 46 vials. My Suminat comes from InhousePharmacy.biz. 5 bottles for $177 shipped. So for $177 I am getting 2000+mg of sumatriptan, the equivalent of 166-233 vials.  For my Saline I use 'Simply Saline', which is a nasal spray that is 100% saline. I use the 1% variety, not the 3%. Kinda surprised more people are not saying 'damn!' about this experiment. I am about 120 doses of Imitrex into this episode. For me that is around 60 vials. I would be out around $5000 if I were doing Imitrex. "Just posting this out there for general edification. Don't try this at home. Being bad with math can kill you. - Lobster"

I don't doubt that one iota just judging by the behind the scenes rescue work I happened to see. Heroic for sure. R.I.P. OUCH.

Dammit Spiny I think some poltergeese did get him.Â

PF week - wow congrats on that!! [smiley=thumbup.gif] Now slap that paranormal action on us.Â
-
Well I now see that just like the CH bucking feast there are no absolute rules for what is good/bad for migraines either. Harumph. >
-
Yep. From my own experience and what I've seen others report on the message boards, for us episodics it is common indeed for episodes to start lasting longer as the years/decades go by. My first episodes were 4 weeks long. In recent years they've become more like 11 weeks. Please don't get too worried yet about the chronic thing. On the bright side, the remissions often start lasting longer too, I hope that becomes the case with you.Â

Dang, Shagster, no rotten tomatoes but that's a rotten surprise that your migraines haven't been busted too. After seeing CH'ers with migraines such as Mystina, Renee and others report their migraines were the first thing to go upon busting, I was starting to think migraines were practically the easiest thing to give the boot to, but in your case NOOOoooOOoo. Of course the 'ol D3 regimen thingy is purported to be a good migraine preventative for many, but if I remember correctly you've already tried it? Wish I knew something you didn't already know - about the only other tidbit I can think of right now is that I know a migraineur who routinely aborts attacks at onset with an energy shot. Um yeah, I doubt that's exactly a new concept to you though. :-?

Hey American Dad isn't a very proper show either! I know because I own DVD compilation sets of it. Roger should certainly be awarded an Emmy. ;D
